I dont know if you guys have have seen my posts about Mattys family living just up the road from me and about bumping into a relative of his quite often but last night i bumped into them again and we got talking about Matty and the Blades and this and that and according to them Newcastle united and 1 other premier league team (which i forget the name of) have been showing a fair bit of intrest in signing him. Aparently Mattys unsure about a move to the premier league because of what happened to Jordan slew when he left to go too Blackburn, he doesnt want to end being sat on the bench or playing in the reserves for some premier league team and would rather stay at united and get some first team action

By the way Mattys on 14 grand a week aparently

I could believe that if it were a monthly figure but cannot believe that he is on £14k per week.
That would be £728k per year and considering that our salary target is around 6-7 million it would not leave a lot of room for anything else.

Looking at it like that you may well be right, i asked what hes earning and was told 14 grand and through my own assumption i assumed we were talking in weeks. My apologies

No need to apologise to me Cressers.
Surprised they coughed up the info so readily and now you have posted it, Newcastle may know how much they need to go to prise him away :(

Footballers are paid monthly ,always take a 'weekly wage' statement with a pinch of salt because there s a lot of variation and when footballers talk they talk monthly. A girl who worked for me was dating Luton Shelton and she always talked about his wages as a monthly .

As mentioned in the OP his family don't live/drink/work too far from myself and I heard from people considerably closer than "a relative". Not posting figures but that number is so far out its untrue it wouldn't even be accurate as a monthly wage TBH.

None of the ex academy player have ever been even on half that per week, that includes Walker, Naughton etc.

If we really were playing 14k a week for the likes of Lowton, we'd be beyond hope.

Back to Newcastle: if Lowton went there he'd be back-up at best as they're looking for a left back to allow Santon to move to right back. I know that there's an element of propaganda but he's always seemed keen to highlight his desire to play week in week out in interviews.

Just out of intrest are you from Creswell or the surrounding villages ie Whitwell,Clowne, ?

How do you get closer than 'a relative'

Not wishing to appear snotty, I have to say that the likelyhood of a relative divulging the earnings of their footballing family member to someone who lives close by is at best, unlikely...

:D I like how the conversation as boiled down to a disbelief of what he earns and nobodys arsed about the fact that we could be losing the only right back we have (as far as im aware) to a premier league team

That's a given
The only thing we can control is what we moan about

£14k a month is £3231 a week which sounds a bit on the low side to me.
If I was having a guess I would have thought about £5K or 6K a week.
If we're not paying him that already, somebody else will be willing to.

We'll not be paying him £5 or £6k a week while we're in League One. £3,231 a week would be reasonable, and more than double the average for a player at this level anyway. There will be alot of different clauses in his contracts based on promotion etc. too.

Lots of school friends around that area, infact one of whom is pretty much the reason I follow the Blades was from Whitwell. :)

I would agree during normal conversations. My thoughts on this come from conversations around the time he was discussing his latest deal with the club (offer, counter offer etc) and I'm sure its pretty accurate. The wage offer was only part of the discussion over a week or so, he had a lot of things to weight up, money was only one aspect of it.

I would be incredibly surprised if he was still here next season.
I can't see him wanting to play in league one for another season and he can boost his earnings and profile elsewhere.

That last part is in no way ITK, I've not heard anything related to if he is going or staying in since the playoff final.

Have you ever been to Creswell? I can believe it. It's a pretty tight nit place. Everyone knows everyone. They don't like outsiders though.

:D couldnt have summed it up better myself. We dont mind outsiders though, unless there idiots and bring unwanted hassle into the village.

It was exactly like that in the corner shop as you go into the model village

Is the Black Diamond still open?

Just about, its had quite a few different landlord/landladys over the last few yrs though. Dont think it will be long before it closes down if im honest.

Do you know the rose and crown in Creswell ? Thats shut down now, well was the last time i noticed

Its run by a indian family now, pretty much the same as before except there skins a differant colour and its hard to figure out what theyre saying

The Model village is usauly the source of all the trouble, Its gone threw some regeneration with lottery funded money but the houses are now owned by big property companys that see fit to advertise there propertys to let on prison notice boards so has you can imagine we get alot of the wrong type of people moving into the village and thats why were not such a fan of outsiders

My Dad grew up in Creswell and a couple of years ago, between spells in Dundee and London, I had the pleasure of a brief spell working in the William Hill there.

It's not a bad little place really.

The People this morning says Norwich have stepped up their pursuit of ML.

The 1.5m rated 22 year old was on the radar of former Canaries boss Lambert and now new boss Hughton is keen to snap him up. Swans, Reading and Newcastle also interested

Same paper also says us and Posh want Stevenage def/middy Lawrie Wilson aged 24. He is also being eyed by several champs/prem clubs. We see him as a replacement for Matt Lowton

I bought a blank VHS tape there, to record the Coogans Run series. Little tiny electrical shop, wonder if its still there
