Now that our division next season has been (cruelly) decided, who do you think is potentially on their way out?

Here's a list of the squad members who have their contracts run out next month (please correct me if i've missed anyone out):

  • Johannes Ertl
  • Andy Taylor
  • Steve Simonsen
  • Lee Williamson
  • James Beattie
  • Matty Harriott

No, thats a stupid answer.....try and keep williamson and simonsen. I have had my doubts about simmo in the past but he has been solid this season. forget the penalty, anyone could have missed and should it come down to the keepers! Williamson contributed 13 goals this season, he was technically our top scorer. He was injured today too.

It is more than a change of players that is needed, we must change the culture of the club to a winning culture rather than one of glorious or not so glorious failure.

So why was he playing then?
He was abysmal today.

Not sure, if my memory serves me he pulled up against Stevenage, so I must wonder maybe he was risked today and it failed because he was awful.

Keep Simmo!!! what medication are you on? he's cost us more points than he's saved this season. OK he's had a good game today regardless of the missed pen, but he's flattered to decieve the last two seasons for me. Get shut .

McDonald is out of contract as well I believe.

and you would replace him with???? Long? I dont see any other expierence goalkeepers who would want to play for us at that level. Simmo might have had his moments and I agree he aint the best but lets be honest there isnt that much around for what money (we dont have)

If we can't get out of this shit division with the players we had this season,What makes anyone think with new blood we bring in,will bring success next year. Especially with the finances we have.

Who mentioned Long? not me. Seems that every time Simmo is critisised Long is offered up as our only option.OK hows this for starters. Tommy Lee from newly relegated Chezzy. Jussi Jaskaerleinen , 3RD in line at Bolton ( and I believe out of contract) and very experienced AND a lot better than Simmo. Thats without looking. AND lets see what Howard is like as well. We signed him for nowt???????????

No matter who's out of contract I expect to lose monty, Quinn, lowton and fend off bids for Maguire. They'll have to have wholesale changes with the new wage cap.coming in.

I'll give you Jaaskaleinen!

Very benevolent of you. I'll stick my dick out and say that home and away 90% of our opposing goalies have looked far more competent than Simmo. With one of the exceptions being the dwarf that Bury have in goal, as he's got shorter legs than me!!!!!!!

Whenever I see suggestions like that, I think that's going to take up four players's wages. We've just seen us screw up after being unable to replace our main striker, aren't you afraid we're going to make the same mistake again?

Long, Howard and Willis will have to do.

I wouldnt be surprised to see a few of the 'high earners' resign on lower wages. whether we sell the kids is another matter.... will we have the guts to keep them??

The reality is with the level of our support and these new rules on how much of turnover that can be spent we should find ourselves in a fantastic position to recruit a squad capable of pissing this League next season, the cynic in me thinks McCabe will just use this failure as an excuse to sell anything worth selling and cut things right back to the bone. It makes me so mad how folks defend him, since relegation from the Premiership he has done nothing worthwhile for this club the sooner he sells and fucks off the better. An utter loser in football matters

errrr we are still in LEAGUE ONE ........................helloooooooooooo

but 90 points would normally get you promoted and is a winning mentality.

Problem we have is that it will be difficult to repeat next season with so many of the '1st team' leaving

But how? There's no "start winning" button. We change the cuture by building a winning squad. There's no other way.

It may not be a mistake given his age and status. Agreed if he wanted too much, no way. On the other hand if he wants to continue his career, who knows. No way i'd want us to fork out four players wages for any improvement on Simmo, but then again I think we may get it for less!

I think we could improve our whole squad and reduce the wagebill at the same time. I'm not as gloomy as many about the contracts expiring / losing players. Some will take cuts, some wil be replaced. Unfortunately our hardest job is finding a striker now.

The culture of the club will not change until we have a change of owner, till we do we will continue to bumble along from one failure to the next. IT'S THE BLADES WAY

I've been a big critic of McCabe, but it's not clear to me how he's responsibe for the culture of the club. We've become a footballing side for starters - that didn't require a change of owner.

Quit the record and play another tune. It aint gonna happen
Have you a big enough wad in your pocket to do it? No! Fucking thought not.
Get real and understand that no one is putting money into clubs like ours.
Whatever McCabe is not doing now is a function of the poor decisions made with Robson onwards.
I'll bet he would dearly love to quit and get out but he wont leave us in the lurch with some halfwits like they have at Portsmouth or Coventry

Agreed. Might actually be a good time to see who's here for the money and who isn't (any such thing as loyalty anymore?) I know it was rumoured that before Ched got banged up for sloppy seconds he was on about staying. But yes , its a good opportunity to get shut and reconstruct, yer right.
