And when I say the same train, only just. None of that second class drinking White Lightning with the riff-raff stuff for us. We shall be in first class, partaking of a cheeky little breakfast sherry.:D

You paid an extra fiver then ;)

You might find that upper class... I mean first class... is subject to a Guinness-led revolution.

2 x more Oyster cards ordered in the Fox household.

We go to London enough to justify it and the price of day travel cards has gone up by £2 since we started going down there regularly for matches.

United have chartered a train from Sheffield: http://www.sufc.co.uk/page/AwayTravel/0,,10418~1116987,00.html

Due to anticipated demand, United have chartered a train from Sheffield Midland to St Pancras. The train will leave Sheffield at 9am, arrive at St Pancras at 11.42am. The train will return from St Pancras at 20.45, arriving in Sheffield at 23.18. The price is £60 first class and £50 standard. Tickets can be purchased from the Sheffield United ticket office.

For those travelling down the M40, the best bet is to park at one of High Wycombe, Beaconsfield or Gerrards Cross train stations. There is a direct train to Wembley Stadium from each, taking 20-30 minutes.

Our return option is now £35

East Midlands trains - 05:27 from Sheffield to St Pancras = £20

National Express coach - 20:30 from London Victoria to Sheffield = £15 (incl. booking fee)

We'll be rocking on to London Road just after midnight.

Fortuantely i was quite organised (for once!) and got onto it on phone right on full time and dont seem to have done bad then as got a train/coach combo for :

6.25am going train. £17
20.30pm return National Express. £10.50

So done return for £27.50 (+ tube, beer, food etc)

We stopped in Harrow for a couple of beers after the game and were still back in Sheffield with plenty of time left to go to the pub.

I did think about hitching to an airport and then flying into Heathrow, but as I can see the airport from my bedroom window, it may not have been one of my best ideas.

I presume you own a teleportation device? I thought I was gonna be laid to rest at Wembley the way things were going.

We were out with no problems whatsoever. Straight on the tube into Harrow then jumped on the minibus there. We were back in Harrow before 6pm.

We obviously ballsed up then somehow. Having said that, still glad im staying put after, win or lose we booze and that.

Any news on the special train? Booked my match tickets online but tickets are only on sale at the box office - do you have to join the ticket queue or are they selling through the promotions office? Meeting a mate down there but he's not going down from Sheffield so not worth driving, unless anyone wants to share petrol?

Not sure the arrangements carrying on from today, but when I went to collect our tickets they were using promotions and the box office to service the one ticket queue.

Anyone have a suggestion/recommendations for tolerable/decent B&B's either near Kings Cross or, at a push, even Wembley itself?

Thanks in advance :)

Quite a few b&bs round Argyle Square (only a spit from Kings Cross station.), we stayed in Montana Excel a couple of months ago, it was cosy and clean, though a bit basic, no lift shared bog, but own shower. Can't remember exact cost but not too bad for London.

Not planning on extra time, penalties, trophy presentation, then?

Any one hears anything about spare bus capacity from Chapletown or Ecclesfield areas I`d appreciate heads up. Looking for 8 seats (2 getting on at Worksop if possible)

As an aside we went to Burnley in a coach that was "booked in " at a boozer called The Torch ,its literally 15 mins from Wembley and has a large car park behind which if you ring up and give details he lets you park in for free. Quick gettaway too as its just f what is eventually Edgeware Road I think

LOL - was thinking more of an alley and a few old newspapers

But have gone for a night up in Highbury (Seven Sisters N7) as we've got some friends to visit the Sunday - 5mins from Finsbury Park tube, which is 10mins from KX, so pretty convenient so far. Might even bump into some Gunners? Just need to get the tickets for bloody game now...
