Read the article. Nothing to do with the players being paidWhen international players nowadays are on very well paid contracts, why the hell do they need paying to turn up for their country in the biggest sporting tournament on the planet ?? The money chucked around at the top of the football pyramid is embarrassing and totally out of control.
Can I use your car? Your not using it right now. I won't pay you for it.I don't understand this. Why do the club's need compensating when the league is suspended?
That has nothing to do with this which you'd know if you'd actually read the article. But anyway, the England players match fees go to charity... (there's a charity set up specifically for this)When international players nowadays are on very well paid contracts, why the hell do they need paying to turn up for their country in the biggest sporting tournament on the planet ?? Or in the case of this wc has a beer or a bit of same sex fun.Incase a player gets injured or kidnapped is my guess.
Agreed, I got the wrong end of the stick when first reading it. But I’m still puzzled as to why a club is compensated for their players playing in a World Cup. The clubs still complete a full season of matches with a full squad available ?That has nothing to do with this which you'd know if you'd actually read the article. I guess it will make more sense when Ndiaye comes back on crutches.Agreed, I got the wrong end of the stick when first reading it. Like JOC, whose been nowhere near an international squad.I guess it will make more sense when Ndiaye comes back on crutches.
You need to think of the players as assets, the countries are using the clubs assets and returning them having used them and adding wear & tear to them. They're also switched to different training schedules and routines that the club might not agree with but have no say in.Agreed, I got the wrong end of the stick when first reading it. Yes, but we/our insurers are bearing the cost of that injury. If he'd sustained the same injury while on international duty his costs would be covered by the FA & their insurers - who would also probably have to pay us compensation for breaking our asset and returning it in an unusable state. (Harsh way to word it but that's effectively what it comes down to)Like JOC, whose been nowhere near an international squad.
And sometimes a player has a great tournament and returns to his club with a better profile and higher price tag. Think Kalvin Philips - has one decent season in the Prem and a good Euros for England. Next minute he’s worth £42M gets sold and has now sunk without a trace at Man City. Leeds will be well chuffed. Playing for your country in a World Cup should be the pinnacle of a player’s career but it seems it now gets viewed as a nuisance to some clubs. You need to think of the players as assets, the countries are using the clubs assets and returning them having used them and adding wear & tear to them. If someone wants to use one of your assets you would charge them a fee to do so... like hiring a car, for example.
England have that level of insurance, but many other countries don’t, and I don’t believe it’s a FIFA requirement. If Ndiaye gets injured on international duty, there’s no way we’re getting any compensation from either Senegal or any insurer.Yes, but we/our insurers are bearing the cost of that injury. Exactly, who cares about the why and wherefores. If they want to send some money our way then that’s fine by meEven if Wales and Senegal don't make it out of the group stage it's a few hundered grand we weren't expecting so what's not to like?
For the world cup the players are insured by FIFA rather than each nations FA individually.
