Roy's View From... Pre-Match View From Birmingham

I remember around 1984-85 time, a match on Saturday but it was very dark after the match.
There was quite a lot of fighting in the side streets off The Moor after the match, also quite a lot of police around too.
Their fans were wearing them Patrick light blue and dark blue cagoule jackets.
Yeah,I was a young kid at that time for both matches, scrapping all over the place, ground, outside, bus station, train station,Shoreham street. That’s when the Zulus were knocking about and trying to cause mayhem,my next door neighbour is a blue nose and says they can still be as bad on turn out days.

Not sure why they think we’d give them more tickets when the home end is basically sold out every game.

I like Birmingham though. Much more so than Villa.

EFL rules…. 2,000 away tickets unless the capacity is less than 20,000. In this instance the guaranteed allocation becomes 10% the total capacity.

We’ve thrown in a few extras as per the capacity of the lower tear, now jog on chaps…hardly going to disadvantage and / or inconvenience our own fans just to accommodate you are we? Especially when we are bound to give you 5% of ticket sales as administration as per league rules….

"“It won’t take long until a lack of arial strength in our back four is exposed."

There are much better sans serif fonts, so I'd agree with them here.

That wasn’t one of theirs, it was me !

I saw them moaning and registered just to post that 😂

I’ve been quoted on Roy’s view from !!!

“Which stand should the Sheffield United season ticket holders be removed from to accommodate the Blues?”

Everything I thought I knew about Roy’s view from is now potentially a lie. That’s it Roygbiv, pack it up and go home.

West Brummie Albion are surely 2nd biggest club in Birmingham

Agree....their claim to fame is that apart from Bristol City, Hull and Plymouth they are historically the shittiest performing club out of all the decent sized big city clubs.
However Bristol, Hull and Plymouth aren't traditional football areas where Birmingham is and all their rivals Villa, WBA and Wolves have seen plenty of success.

Ipswich were fantastic in the 70's, always one of the best teams in England.
Millwall never done anything but Blackpool, Huddersfield and Preston at least have some history of having a good team in the top flight challenging for honours.

Our record since the war is really poor but before the war....especially before the 1st world war we were challenging for honours too.
Whereas Birmingham have never done anything of note in their entire history....apart from being in 2 league cup finals and winning it one year.
However regards being in the top flight their best ever position is 6th and they've rarely finished in the top 10.

Where as we have been league champions once and finished in the top 10 of the top flight as recently as only 3 years ago under Wilder.
We've done fuck all for 90 years so to get the crowds we do get is creditable

Agree....we are the biggest club (based on fanbase and statue) in the UK, even probably the biggest in Europe
to have not had any success, regards competing for major honours, being in cup finals etc since the war.

Birmingham and Boro were the other big English clubs with a terrible record of success
however even Boro have been in 3 league cup finals, winning 1 and playing in Europe twice, reaching a Europa final one year
where as Brimingham have been in 2 league cup finals, winning 1 and being in Europe once.

Bristol City have a far worse record than us and have never done anything but of course we have a bigger fanbase than them.

Brums last three games show great improvement, seven points, from their previous seven games in which their tally was just five points.
Interesting game today then, a Blades win should be possible so long as the well oiled wheels still run smoothly and haven't rusted any during the unnecessary break in the season.
Thank you Roy, rather late but I got there. UTB

I remember back around 1976, we went down to division 2, brum at home last game and a night match.
Drew 1:1, they stayed up. They had about 10k in the ground, lots of fighting on the Shoreham end and outside the ground.
Had my Furphy's Aces silk scarf nicked by a Brum fan on Bramall Lane before the game. He was massive, I was 11.

Feel your pain. I had a Blades scarf ripped off me by an adult Spurs fan as a kid. I didn't cry. I spat in his face and then ran away.

If you're reading this Mr Moustache, I'm a lot bigger now....
