I'll take a win without it's arsed wiped mesen. It's three points and gives our brilliant away supporters summat real to shout at the desolate ErrNerrs. We are 'top of the league' and go into the Rovvrum game in an position of empowerment and confidence, given its at BDTBL in front of a packed stadium. Given today's workmanlike and professional performance in dispatching Hull, there's no reason we shouldn't believe that a large margin win is possible in that match as well. We also seem very frugal in conceding too, our back three and back five are solid and our keeper gets us frequently out of the shit. If se have McBurnie's goal trajectory we should be several points clear by the WC Break, at least of the chasing playoff pack.

I’m not sure people are seeing it yet but Doyle is changing the way our midfield operate. Great midfields have always had someone doing the dirty work getting stuck in and generally buzzing about (something we’ve been missing since Fleck lost form) Who was it that was nicknamed the water carrier? Anyway for that reason i thought Doyle was class today, allows the star men to do their business. Therefore he gets a higher mark from me.

Atmosphere was good a lot of the time, but there were some quieter periods. Thoroughly enjoyed the game. Glad I wasn't in the area where bottles were being thrown. Too old for that rubbish.

Thought it was a funny game.
In that we generally dominated and apart from a 10 minute spell just before the Berge goal when they has a few corners and had us pinned back
Overall we always pretty comfortable defending. We were the superior team and deserved to win

However although they didn't create much...they had 2 great chances in the 1st half where they should have scored.

So altho it was a good performances we could have been 2-1 behind at half time....then it becomes a different game.
So for the first time this season, there was an element of luck about this result.

Thanks as ever Pomps. Only area of disagreement for me was scoring Brewster a 7. For the second game running he got involved in a fracas for no reason. He needs to stop that and concentrate on playing. I thought he was pretty ineffectual again. He only has short spells on the pitch and it clearly frustrates him but his lack of self discipline could end up costing us. Never thought I’d say this but he needs to take a leaf out of McBurnies book and start grafting.
Love Doyle, he brings a lot to our midfield. As others have said, he’s the ball winner we badly needed.

Good professional performance today , thought we’d managed the game well & had a grip on the middle of the park . Restricted them really to just a couple of chances & Wes did what he does best in those situations .
Good raucous atmosphere there today reminded me of our thrips to Boothferry in the 80s and made it all the sweeter when the two goals went in . Not gonna single out individuals as most were 7/10 or 8/10 with no weak links or carrying players . Got the away hoofoooff our backs now onwards & upwards . UTB

Good summary as always, thanks Pommps. We started the way we left off from Tuesday. We actually managed to transfer our home form to away form for the first time in ages. Dull didn't really have a look in for 30 minutes. Norwood was very hit and miss. His error nearly cost us dearly, like times of old. It was then disjointed, scrappy and lacking in discipline. I never felt they would catch us, but it was uncomfortable at times. Doyle makes a big difference to our midfield imo. Would like to see more of Kadra. 3 more points, momentum gathering, probably our best away performance for some time. Keep the faith, this could be a great season. The team is visibly growing in confidence and spirit game by game. It is a pleasure to see. Funny how none of the pundits seem to rate us ?
To make the weekend complete was seeing Ugly Steve chewing a wasp after florist lost again. He'll be out by the end of October, you heard it here first.

Neill ,Knighton & Simpkin - the dirtiest halfback line in football league history. Neill went on to manage Arsenal ; Knighton joined South Barnsley& I think Simpkin was sectioned (or maybe not)

Bravo pommpey and I second the praise of the use of the word 'varmint', a word that has been sadly underused since they stopped showing repeats of the Beverley Hillbillies.

I would in no way question your criticism of Norwood for his error, however I feel I should temper it by remarking that it was also he who won the ball back (as he did quite a few times tbf) and fed Ndiaye in the lead up to our second goal.

I'm also in agreement with many posters regarding the performances of Doyle. He was excellent again today, works really hard and in time I think he will start scoring a few too.

By that I mean, I hope an extended break doesn't ruin any momentum we may gain going into the break. United are usually a bit shady after Christmas as it is.

What I am particularly enjoying so far this season is the fact we are actually shooting.
From outside the box as well. Love seeing this .

Looks like we are not sticking to the rulebook of the last twenty years or so, of trying to basically walk the ball into the net.

Would probably knock Norwood down half a mark. After finally putting his boots on the right feet, hes back to wearing them back to front today.

Sloppy pass killed Tetteh, then dawdling on ball killed Lowe.

Had a dangerous freekick at one stage near corner flag which he belted straight into first man too.

Yes - Knighton spent some time over at S6 when Jack Charlton was manager and I had a chat with him one night when they were in town at a club. He came across as a decent bloke actually.
