THE FUTURE ... AS IT USED TO BE

Just gets better doesn't it? A great away win, not exactly steamrollered or comfortably won but won all the same. First twenty five was typically brilliant, energetic and positive and Hull genuinely looked battered, ready to concede the first goal. Some great work just sustaining the press and not allowing them out of their kennel and McBurnie cracks in a near post goal to punish their apparent lack of attention to detail. It had been coming and really we should have capitalised because their heads dropped but we make the classic over compensation, Norwood fucks up possession and suddenly they are one on one. Wes saves ... the saves again and we lose Lowe to another (why?) hammy pull. After we rearranged the defence a bit and brought Bash on, suddenly we'd lost all our bite and were somewhat pegged back by Hull as they ventured forward and smelled blood. I was expecting a further tweak at half time but HJ&SMcC decided to stay firm, given the off chance that a bit of brilliance from N'Daiye might give us a bigger lead. It didn't come despite the game flattening out somewhat until N'Daiye again, ever the pest, digs out more attacking threat and lays in Sander who clipped it in off an outstretched boot.
I'll take a win without it's arsed wiped mesen. It's three points and gives our brilliant away supporters summat real to shout at the desolate ErrNerrs. We are 'top of the league' and go into the Rovvrum game in an position of empowerment and confidence, given its at BDTBL in front of a packed stadium. Given today's workmanlike and professional performance in dispatching Hull, there's no reason we shouldn't believe that a large margin win is possible in that match as well. We also seem very frugal in conceding too, our back three and back five are solid and our keeper gets us frequently out of the shit. If se have McBurnie's goal trajectory we should be several points clear by the WC Break, at least of the chasing playoff pack.
Well done United
Foderingham 8/10: Not a great deal to do but pluck crosses out of the sky but that double save gives him two whole points. Their attacker looked robbed and it was a typically brilliant and somewhat cool-nerve goalkeeping by Wes
RND 9/10: Great outing - better in his home of LWB. Left everything either soaked into his shirt or out on the pitch. Refused to be beaten and got forward in equal measures
Anel 7/10: Not his best, but he was switched to LCB when Lowe went off so was out of position. Didn't do much wrong save pick up a silly yellow card
Egan 7/10: Better, more solid outing for him. In the right place at the right time such as the ball over Basham which put them clean through again
Basham 6.5/10: Not his best game, but effective in going forward
Baldock 7.5/10: Grafted hard against a tough opposition and I feel won the battle
Doyle 6.5/10: Not as good as the last game and guilty with the other three midfielders of easing off in the second half
Norwood 6/10: Again, a drop off in standard of late. A shocking and typically Norwoodesque coughing up of possession in midfield cost us a player in the outcome. For that he drops a point
Berge 7.5/10: Started to fade in the second half after a pretty decent first. Took his goal well
N'Daiye 8.5/10: Tremendous game. He is such a fucking varmint for opposition midfields and defences because he just doesn't give it up. He'll have the ball off you if you lose concentration or give him half a chance.
McBurnie 7/10: Great third goal in three but after our fuck up, was left scrambling about for scraps which was a shame. Marked improvement in his game. One minor shithousery incident with their keeper
Lowe (inj) 7/10: Was playing well until his injury
Brewster 7/10: Plenty of energy. Really want him to score
McAtee 6/10: Looked quick with his feet
Arblaster 6/10: Decent few minutes
HJ&SMcC 8/10: Well manged win. We need however a plan to stop the midfield from somewhat collapsing like a sad pie for no apparent reason. After half an hour today after looking devastating, the central three just seemed to pull Hull onto themselves and failed to dominate any more, denying N'Daiye and McBurnie more ammunistion
