Got his players outplaying us, if I was a Luton fan I’d be ok with him
He's got his side playing like Wimbledon use to, horrible to watch! kept lumping it up to the 9' giants, but If it keeps them up and there fans are happy watching that shite then fair crack to him👍

I don't mind Jones tbf.

Bit odd a bloke of his age biting his nails like he does though.

Thought it was a nice touch at Stoke when they had their last match lap and he came over to our fans to clap and congratulate.

Noticed in his post-game interview for Luton, he has a bit of a pop at RND? Saying something like he wanted to go back (to us) because he thought he was bigger than the club? What’s he on about??

RND chose to go to Stoke on loan for 6 months after a 6 month stint at Luton. Stoke were higher up the division at the time it seemed a logical move. RND did very well at Luton less so at Stoke. Jones and Luton fans need to get over it he was our player and we were looking at his development first not Lutons interests.

They were both in the Championship at the time (20-21) but assumedly Stoke offered us a better financial package and were playing 3-5-2 at the time.

Edit. Misread your post as higher division rather than ‘higher up’!

Jones is like a modern day Warnock. Gets more out of a bunch of journeymen than they, themselves, realised they had. Each of them puts in a shift and plays at a level arguably greater than their weekly wage merits.

The difficulty comes when landing a job at a bigger club, where many of the players are doing precisely the opposite.

They were pumped up and in our faces but a strong ref and we win that game

That style of football can get you out of lg 1 and it make you competitive in the championship as long as your supporters get behind it but as soon as they want to.see a modicum of football played the whole wall comes down

Exactly right. You make a rod for your own back with that style of play. It is 100% reliant on getting results, that is the only way it’s even remotely tolerable. As soon as results go west you’re on a hiding to nothing.

Moans about Berge being offside but keeps quiet about the questionable defending for our goal e.g Mcburnie being unmarked and Egan having an easy flick on. Also doesn't say anything about how their player somehow managed to get away with kicking Doyle in the chest.

I'm surprised he's got any fingers left, never mind finger nails, the way he chews them!

Don't mind him tbh. He speaks from the heart and is clearly passionate about his team/club.

They are competing against clubs with much higher salary ceilings (us being one of them) and he sets them up to be difficult to best and to get results. Whilst different characters, our own Harry Bassett did similar back in the day against the big boys.

I quite admire him, but I also see what he could rub people up the wrong way. He's a competitor. Fair play to him.

When he first arrived at Stoke, he blamed their bad performances on the squad he inherited and asked to be judged when he’d put his own squad together. Specifically in the Radio Stoke interview after our 2-2 draw at the Brit when our lot had been on the piss for a week and never got out of second gear.

The Stoke City board did just that and after four months of the following season, sacked him, because his squad’s performance was worse than the one he inherited 🙂

I like him, good manager and committed to the club cause, good luck to him and luton, reminds me of DB and us back in the day. so long as we finish above em all good, as they'll fuck a lot of other teams/fans off big style.

Extremely rich from a fella who also left Luton for Stoke and then returned with his tail between his legs... .

To coin a phrase of Bill Shankley, alehouse football..

Just watched his interview on the EFL programme. It looked like they were interviewing a random bag woman from Pond Street cafe in the 1970's. He must have coke behind his finger nails, that's all I can say.

So that's where 'Pond Street Nora' ended up then...

(that's one for you older Sheffield folk on here).

All a load of bollocks from Jones said to give his players a boost. Sounded to me like he is saying to his team that they could have beaten the best team in the league who have the best players, Premier league experience blah blah without saying that such a good side didn't play all that well on the night. It was only bad luck and the referee who stopped Luton winning blah blah, any one would think they'd just got a draw with Man City. Looked like he was on summat.
