Our performances in the first three home games this season have been excellent and the maximum points tally fully justified.I am fairly confident we can improve on the 44 home points total from last season, but if we want to achieve automatic promotion we must replicate our excellent home performances away from home and look to win about 12 of our remaining 21 away games. We seem far less expansive and much less of a threat away from home,if we can’t correct this then we will fall short of the points total required for a top two finish.

Probably right - but i do trust Hecky to integrate the new players into the squad over time , as he is doing . I think we will be sound away from home as the defence and midfield gets tighter

Win home games don’t loose away games promotion simple

Completely agree. At home, we are to be feared. I don’t think there’s a side in the league that comes to Bramall Lane genuinely believing that they’ll win the game. We’re electric going forward and give nothing away in defence.

Away from home is a different story. We need to be more confident. More ‘on the front foot’ and significantly more proactive in terms of changes when it’s not going our way. We’re a very good side. We don’t have anything to be scared of if we’re looking at the other sides in the division. 1st place is up for grabs and we’re in pole position to grab it (albeit after only 5 games).

Genuinely believe we’re going up this season.

UTB.

Drawing away and winning at home is play off form, you need to pick 35+ points up away to stand a chance of automatic promotion.
23 x 3 = 69
23 x 1 = 23
= 92 points
How’s that play off form ?
Tell me a team that finished on 92 points in the championship and finished in the playoffs

I assumed that we’d lose the odd game along the way, it tends to happen. Promotion teams even lose a few as a general rule.

But generally speaking win most at home and a few away and you’re autos.

50 points at home (15 wins, 5 draws, 3 defeats)

and 35 points away (9 wins, 8 draws, 6 defeats)

Should be enough. We have to think that is well within reach.

But we should aim for more. Aim to smash the fucking league. No apologies

We certainly don’t look the same when playing away as we do at home

Let’s just say there’s room for improvement away and let’s hope it starts next week

I’m of the opinion a 3 month striker loan won’t do us any harm provided we can find one and the board sanctions it, which gives us some breathing space for Billy’s return.

Another injury up top could be a massive blow

The main reason Fulham gained automatic promotion last season is because their away record was as good as our home form. The 44 points they got from their 23 away games was only 2 shy of their home points haul,it’s absolutely essential to approach away games in exactly the same way as you do the home fixtures,if you don’t you won’t finish in the top two. However good you are you will always lose 4 or 5 home games,it is no good being passive away from home,if you know you have better players than the opposition you have to play without any thought of defeat home or away,at the moment we don’t !!!

5 games lads, 3 good performances.
A good solid start, nothing more at this stage.

Let’s review again in the International break and if we’re on or over 2 points per game then, then maybe I’ll start to get excited.
WBA we’re untouchable this time last season and being hailed as champions elect. It’s far far too early.

What a difference a month makes

Its going better than anyone could have hoped for. Back then we were 4 points clear of 7th and only 1 point from 3rd. Now we're 8 and 5 points clear. With 4 of our next 6 games at home, we should be expecting the points gap to 3rd and 7th to increase.

Would be nice for this excellent form to continue so that we have a comfortable cushion should we hit a dodgy patch.

We've been increasingly solid away from home and picking our moments when deciding when to go at the opposition...

Good tacticians at play.

We’re still in 3rd gear for me which is the most exciting part. I’ve not seen a Middlesbroughesq home performance yet, nor a second half QPR away one so we’ve improvements to make.
……and we’re top.

10 games down and on target. Next challenge is staying here for the World Cup break and looking at our games it’s achievable. Once we do that the pressure is really on those chasing because they can’t afford many slips and at the moment they’re dropping points here and there.
