Managers who have no bottle.....

The best thing that Slav did was to bring in MGW, without him we would have been no where near the playoffs.
If what I was told is true and I have no reason to not believe the source then MGW wasn’t Slavs choice at all. He was offered to PM by someone at wolves that was told at a late stage to find MGW a club for the season as he wouldn’t be in their first team plans, this bloke put it to PM who put it to the board, then I’m told this Wolves guy had to push us to make a decision if we wanted him or not as we were dragging our heels. Seems like it was more luck than judgement.

A point at Middlesboro isn't the issue though

Everybody with more than two braincells knows that if any Sheffield United team sits back and gives away possession we will concede.

There is absolutely nothing more certain than that whether we are playing Man City or Bognor Regis under 11's we will concede.

Everybody with more than two braincells also knows that if we are on the front foot we are as dangerous as any team in the League.

This team doesn't have sufficient braincells to be able to get ahead and then close a game out, the players are too mentally retarded to make good decisions whilst defending.

So the question has to be WHY FUCKING DO IT ?
We didn't concede against Millwall last week. Just saying

All this nonsense about players not been read the bloke started sharp who has been injured all summer

He is incapable of playing attacking football unless we have too

He’s like Kevin Blackwell but with good players

“He is incapable of playing attacking football unless we have too “

Forest 2nd leg
QPR Away 2nd half
Fulham at home

All games where we had no other choice but to attack and played our best football

If it’s a standard league game he is incapable of sending the players out to attack

He just isn’t a very good manager who got the job undeserved by been in the right role at the right time IMO

I would get rid before the season is a write off whilst there are far better candidates

I'm just sick of us losing possession from our own set pieces - corners specifically. We'd be better off rolling it the other way for a throw-in the amount of times we give possession away.

can't understand the need to knock Heckingbottom

He's working with a budget on a par. with Barnstoneworth
And getting blood out of stones

He turned us round from strugglers into contenders in 8 months

He deserves a crack and 4 points from our start against 2 top 8 sides and a prem teamaway is not that shabby
He’s got an probably one of the best squads in the division and he’s not using the subs in this weather whilst a woeful fleck and ineffective defensive midfielder Norwood was clearly tired. He’s gets criticised because we can clearly see we need to change it but he puts on McB…for what? He needed to put on Khadra for an outball and run the channels and doyle on for more energy. It’s clear to see that. He deserves the criticism. Just like he deserves the praise against Millwall. USE THE WHOLE SQUAD

he made change .and they equalised

amazing how often that happens

Tuchel. made changes for Chelsea znd Spurs equalised

I Supposd that makes Tuchel a useless twat In your eyes

“If it’s a standard league game he is incapable of sending the players out to attack”

So he can send them out to win sometimes but is incapable of doing so at others?

There should probably be a 'fans have no bottle' thread.

Going to be a very long season if we don't win every game left

If this is the response drawing away to Boro with a makeshift defence in the hottest conditions most will have played in inspires.

I’m sorry but what exactly has Hecky ‘bottled’ today?

Not saying he bottled anything as such but I will question his game management. He had the tactical choice of winning or not losing the game, he chose the latter.

That match today did not sound as if we set up not to lose. We did score twice and could have had more.
JOC and Duffy did not think so and whilst they are biased they do make sense when speaking.
We can only judge his subs when we have seen who plays in the next two matches, given that we have 3 matches in 7 days in hot weather.
Set up to win definitely….until the last 15 minutes then set up to not concede when tbh they went 4 at the back left spaces and we fetch on a striker … to defend

Correct Sean

Heckingbottom is a defensive coach who is sh@t scared of playing attacking football

He only does so when we have too after watching his side for 6 months + I genuinely don’t know what he wants us as a team to play like other than “ do what wilder did “ which was his remit when he came in

Lovely bloke but a poor manager there are 20 better managers with better CV’S in this league

Automatic championship squad been managed by a league one manager at best

I suspect Hecky is going nowhere,he appears to be the ideal man for the job for the powers that be,doesn't make waves ,puts a team out, whether he'll succeed in promotion, only time will tell,We can all do the job when we don't have it.

There is some comedy gold on this thread.

Hecky has never been a negative or defensive manager. He also knows how to get a team promoted and win a competition.

I was frustrated by the substitutions yesterday but let's not over react. For some reason he doesn't yet fully trust the new lads but I suspect that will change. 3 games in, and some folk need to calm down a bit.

Utter nonsense.

What bit ? Go on then ……

United were on the front foot most of the game, played very well yesterday- Hecky is doing a good job, his failing yesterday was to bring on McB yesterday as extra help in defence in last 10.

Hecky did nothing wrong- McB let him down badly- then Hecky was decent in front of cameras when he totally backed his team.

Hecky / McCall and Lester is a very decent trio - repeat the team played very well yesterday. A draw at Boro is fine we move on - hopefully thats the end of McB though, but I doubt it- the money we paid for the Goon means we have to try and try again- if we had paid nowt for him - the last we would have seen him would have been 18 months ago.

Boro changed shape and put an extra midfielder on to compound their advantage there. Great management .The move was to go four at the back and match them - we didn't do it. Everyone knows the middle of the park is a huge weakness for us except seemingly our manager ( maybe Doyle is his
solution?).

We are a moments team: we rely purely on the individual quality of our forward players and backline. We dont win a tackle or race in the middle. We are a footballing jellyfish. Or a biscuit with no middle in it.

On the bottler tag. What generally happens with caretakers is they inherit a shitshow - the only way is up. They then improve things as any competent person could. They play open, expansive attacking stuff whilst doing that. The players love them and there's a buzz. They then inherit the job and are in a new position - everything is there fault: the good, the bad. The psychology has completely changed and thus they resort to negative, ultra cautious stuff.

Kevin Blackwell was a great example.
I would suggest there are as many failures as those that succeed in the Caretaker role. For your Kevin Blackwell, I raise you Chris Morgan and John Carver. Intteresting article on Caretakers from a 3 years ago now in 442:

Game we should've won tbh mate at 2-1 swap fleck an ndiaye for a bit more creativity an we would've taken all 3, it's about been brave sometimes he who dares wins. But a point is a good point away from home
And I can just imaging what you would have said if we had swapped Fleck for a young kid with a half a dozen games to his name to close out a game at the end if we had then gone on and conceded or even lost.

Its Monday morning and I am struggling to see why I have even opened this thread. I did see a suggestion about the "bedwetters" having their own thread to comfort each other on how bad we are and how its disgusting that we don't pick up 139 points every season. Think a better option would be for Foxy to add an extra tag, alongside the title so that we know its such a thread and then most of us don't have to open.
