Not wanting to tread on anyone's toes i just thought i'd give you a quick report on my first away game of the season.
Unfortunately due to bad traffic i missed the first 5 mins including there goal, however our response was fantastic and we were level a few minutes later through a cracking K Mac strike. We allowed them to play for the next 5-10 mins but we soon found our stride and started to tare them apart especially down the right with lowton, williamson and K Mac linking well and playing some great stuff. We soon made it two nil from smart ched finish capitalising from a mistake from there defence. We were all over them from then on and willo made it 3 after switching sides with quinn for a while. The 4th arrived just before half time a typical ched finish and the game was all but over. The 2nd half started with flynn replacing willo who looked knackered and we started a bit slow with the game all but over, however a Doyle strike from 25 yards went through the keepers hands for 5-1, chants from the stand was we want 6, we want 6 and "thats why were going up" not mention "not bad for a one man team". Rochdale who played some good stuff at times kept going and got a goal back for 5-2 , Its was a great performance and we looked good for most of the game. Really enjoyed it and never sat down.

Thought we bossed it for the most part. Only concern for me is our left side. Quinn didn't really add a deal for me and Hill looked all at sea against their winger. He was slow for their first goal, very slow. That minor scare apart however it really was as if we could score when we wanted. Allowing for the fact that the opposition was awful at the back, we did what we needed to do and the game was over by half time.

Amazing how people see games differently....i thought Quinn was excellant tonight and was our stand out midfield player in the first half especially with his tracking back to help Hill(who i agree was poor in the first half but better in the 2nd)

Cresswell also played very well,imo

How many misplaced passes did McD do tonight? Still great though and a great goal. I still think Willo was fantastic and he adds so much calmness in every area he plays. now on 11 for season and how long since we had that return from midfield?
I also thought quinn was good and give me taylor in place of any other left back we have at the club.

I'll agree with that Sitwell.

Normally i wouldn't grumble with seeing United slam 5 past somebody away from home, but i was slightly disappointed with the fact that we didn't go out there in the second half and run riot, although the game was effectively won at 4-1, and goal difference looks like it won't be a factor that will go against us now.

Yes, he was better 2nd half, might be the fact that I was sat right in front of where they were attacking in the first half I saw it different. Their number 19 (I think) was having a field day whenever they went forward. Didn't think Quinn offered Hill any effective cover whatsoever. Hill is slow. His confidence looked shot after the first goal as well. But what impressed me is that Collins went over to him after we scored our second and appeared to reassure him. Showing good leadership and not just running up the park to celebrate with the scorer.

As I said however, its a small part of what otherwise was an excellent performance.

Thought Rochdale fans had a great sense of humour.
They were excellent, I've lots of time for small clubs like Rochdale. It. Can't be easy when local people follow the two Manchester clubs. Their gallows humour was brilliant..

The thing is they are proper football fans, and not plastic glory hunters descending from all round the world to Spotland to wear their expensive shirts with the latest name on the back.

If we go up this year, i'll miss my trips to places like Rochdale

Thought there number 19 was a right handful. Great playing against a side that tried to play, the surface was excellent and the rain helped us a bit to pass it around with a bit of pace. Thank god we equalied straight away though.

Enjoyd their lads singing The Dale are going down and I enjoyed the pitch invasion from the 7 year old Blade after our 4th.

The Cemetery - excellent boozer.

Really ? I suppose its fashionable for the likes of you to like a scruffy fleapit where you have to stand outside on a street corner ,the beer was OK but 'excellent boozer' ?

heh.. feight. feight .. feight.. in't bike sheds.. naar.. :D come on lads
thanks for the report much appreciated..
does anyone else think that all our left backs might be struggling as they have no cover most of the time? coincidence?

I think you'll find that the players are carrying out the managers instructions. I'm sure he has been told to cover more central and the 4 defenders toggle across to help left. We have been playing that way before LJF got injured and our manager must have given this instruction or be blind not to spot it over all these weeks and I don't believe that for one moment.

Thanks for that Sitwell. New upholstery in room I was in by looks of it and I thought an inteersting boozer with decent character and beer and full of Blades - good enough for me anyway.

Makes me smile that we get this response, after all if I said I was 'disgusted' about the actions of a player you'd be on here like a shot ckaiming I support Wendy etc. we all in this together Sitwell so slagging a young lad off for not clapping you is not going to help.
