Outgoing? SANDER BERGE ON WAY OUT ?

Just because you can doesn,'t mean you should. It would be bad management for a Belgian team to invest that amount of money in one player.
Don’t care if its bad management or not, pony up or fuck off. Sellers market, we don’t want to sell.

It like someone offering me £100 for my ps5 after they’ve just won £500 on a scratch card and revealing they don’t want to spend all that money as it’s bad management. Jog on Belgium boys.

Behind the blades vids on you tube, it always looks like Berge is distant from the rest of squad... you see them coming out in small groups and he always seems to be on his own...

Eh? Can you agree personal terms without a bid being accepted by the selling club first?

Yes. IIRC, Player and agents can negotiate before the club's officially talk.

Came for the Berge transfer updates.

Stayed for the arguing Belgians. 😍

As for this rumour? They can Brugge off.

I think his current value is surpressed by his fitness record and relatively low goal contribution numbers in the Championship.

A full season here, playing that free role, prove his body is up to English football, post higher numbers - I don't think his value drops. I think it would be a calculated risk to keep hold of him and give ourselves a real shot at promotion.
Nobody has stood out in the early running.
The best performances I've seen are ourselves (1st half v Millwall) & Burnley (1st half v Huddersfield).
This is exactly my viewpoint, calculated risk, if the club can afford to take it and the player is willing to stay.

And fire sale next season if they don't get up? I can't wait to see Chris Porter and Billy Paynter up front for the Blades again! Hahaha :)

THAT'S THE SPIRIT WE NEED! 🤩

That shouldn't be allowed at all if true. Unless the player receives assurances that the buying club will present an offer which the selling club are likely to accept, all it does is turn the player's head and wastes their time if a decent offer doesn't appear (which would probably be the case here unless Brugge wish to totally smash their transfer record).

Thought that was only if they were going to activate a release clause or if the selling club has given permission as the fee is close to being agreed. That’s what City did with Haaland - agree a contract then notified Dortmund their intent to activate his clause.

How does that differ from 'tapping up'?

Only in the surreal world of S24SU can you have two Belgians supporters from different clubs arguing over player value for money!!
Plus the incredible psychologists who can see a 5 second video clip and reveal all the angst and conflict they're currently going through and reveal to us luddites that they’re desperate to get out.

All this from a random Belgian posters revealing what’s been speculated in the Belgian press.

Next up, one of the click bait twitter accounts will pick this up and report it and the usual suspects will claim it as proof that it’s definitely happening.

Only on S2!

"Ideally like the buyout clause to be met! Surely that should be the bare fucking minimum.

DERISORY

Seriously think he should give us until January. If he gets his head down, works hard and plays well, better offers will come in. AND, if we're looking likely to go up, he can stay and play in the Premier League with us next season - not the Champs League, but a better shop window if he wants to move to an elite club.

There’s a lot of speculation based on not much fact.

We don’t know how keen Berge is to get out of the club. He may be desperate to go somewhere like Brugge or he might be happy to stay pending on offers from bigger clubs, like PL, Serie A etc.

We don’t know our true financial situation and if we need to sell him this season to break even or if we’ve balanced the books.

So, we can optimistically say “he won’t do this” or “the club won’t do that” but the truth is, we have no idea what’s going to happen.

You don’t get permission when tapping up a player and it isn’t permitted. No one can, legally, talk to Berge without us giving them permission to do so or unless they have activated his release clause.

As a Belgian living in Nether Edge with a deep-seated hatred of Club Brugge (like most of Flanders) and a soft spot for Genk (grew up round those parts), I feel like I have no choice now but to add my two pence to this thread!

Just had a quick look on some Brugge forums, and I'm getting the sense their fans generally aren't too bothered about Berge -- the sum they'd have to cough up would be by far the highest a Belgian team has ever paid for anyone, they think they've got plenty of options in midfield already, and after a pretty poor start to the season, they'd rather see the De Ketelaere money spent on a couple of quality CBs.

Really hope this one fizzles out and we get to watch him go round the outside of defenders half his size like they aren't there for a few more months at least...

Not sure if Bruge is the best career move for Sander. It would be like him moving to Celtic or FC Copenhagen. Big fish in a small pond.

This reeks of Bruge bidding low, half knowing they aren't going to get him. We either accept and they get a bargain, or they can say to their fans we tried, we bid serious money but it wasn't enough. I just can't see him going to them

Like we did with Conor Coady a few years ago you mean... 😂
