That England manager though. Think she's a bit feisty. Nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more eh?

Wendies in the boozer tonight had to admit that thier place was not safe enough to host it..

I felt compelled to tell them you couldn't as the ground is not up to Premier league standard, as you don't have the facilities, pitch, and VAR....

Suck on that you piggy bastards...

It's not what you say..........
Take a look on porktalk (through gritted teeth) and I'll guarantee that you'll have a reyt chuckle 😉

It's doesn't really need expanding as it is already big enough for us at the minute.

Filbert Street was big enough for Leicester too

Roker Park was big enough for Sunderland

The Withdean was big enough for Brighton

The Dell was big enough for Southampton

In fact they were half empty most of the time

Along with at least twenty other new stadiums or stadium expansions

I wonder if fans of other clubs ever said, stadium expansion plan, no thanks, we can't even fill this stadium

First time I've ever seen the Lane full and rocking at a televised game, because normally when it's full and rocking I'm usually there.

It has been showcased to the world, and played its part in an iconic game in the Lionesses history. I just wonder given the fact that it will be unlikely for the Lionesses to fill Wembley on a regular basis, they could become regulars at the Lane. I'd also say that when ever the England mens side go on tour around the country, they tend to go for similar sized grounds, so we must be in for a shout of a England mens game on tonights evidence.
We really need to sort the Kop out …but I guess getting shirts on the players backs a little more pressing at the mo.

Eventually I'd like to see the Kop rebuilt into something decent, with proper sheltered facilities.
Should probably add some more corporate boxes whilst we're at it.

Expansion isn't necessarily key, but a ground with a capacity of circa 40k should be the ambition.
Of course it all hinges on PL football over a sustained period of time and / or a takeover... but we can dream.

For now, the training ground is more important.

Great to see it bouncing on TV tonight and a quick scroll through Twitter suggests those in attendance were impressed with the venue.

The stadium is leaps & bounds ahead of the rust bucket.

To anyone watching on TV...what did they say about the attendance?

I know the capacity has been reduced slightly for the benches and cameras etc but from my vantage point on the Kop I was stunned with the 28,600 they put up

I went to all of those grounds watching United. Off the top of my head Filbert Street held 20k, Roker Park 24k and The Dell 15k and hampered by no room for expansion, and the Withdean was just a stop gap until Brighton built their own ground. Three of those grounds got replaced by new Stadium that don't hold as many as Bramall Lane in his current guise.

Looks superb tonight - so proud and privileged to watch my football there and see how it has evolved since 1970 when i first walked through the turnstiles

Great - what a place to play footie

Agree....our ground looked really impressive on TV, great atmosphere too.
Our ground has actually improved it's reputation and has become more and more attractive to neutrals over the years.

Many grounds these days are nondescript bowls built on the outskirts of towns and cities. Where as ours is affectionately describes by outsiders as "old skool" and is rated highly due to being in the city centre with dozens of pubs within 15 minutes walk of the ground.

The only thing that still gets me though is how the national media STILL never mention that Bramall Lane is the oldest and most historical ground in world football.

I lived in Sunderland in the early 70s and Roker Park held well over 50k at that time.

They mentioned the attendance figure when it flashed up on the scoreboard
and later mentioned how it was another sell-out.

You could see on TV the first 4 rows of the Kop were covered by flags laid flat over the seats.
Also none of the restricted view seats behind the Kop pillars were sold.
That must be over a 1000 empty seats just on the Kop.

Also it looked like loads of seats couldn't be sold on the South stand due to additional journalists and VIP area etc.

The front row of the John Street also didn't seem to be sold.

To be fair Look North did run with the football history of Sheffield and Bramall lane.
It certainly sounded noisy after full time you couldn't here what was said in the pitchside interviews.

Not the point I was making

The point is some of these stadiums hold twice and even three times the clubs traditional support, and they replaced stadiums that they couldn't even regularly fill before the new stadiums or expansions

United are regularly at 85% - 90% full as a Championship club so you'd assume that more could be encouraged to come if the facilities and the team were significantly improved

Aren’t Leicester, Sunderland, Brighton and Southampton all one club towns/cities? Surely it won’t work the same for us, especially if the other lot get on an even playing field

I have been saying the same for years it is always the last few thousand seats that are hardest to sell, netted off seats for segregation, restricted views, only single seats left all make them harder to sell. 90% full is about all we can do if away fans don't travel in numbers. Oh and then there are stupid decisions to give away fans the BLUT. We should aim to hold 40k in the lane it would encourage attendances of 35-40k if we were doing well even at Championship level.

completely agree!

I don't think the justification is there to increase the stadium capacity until we've had two or three years in the Premier League, because its all week and good attracting 85%-90% capacity in the Championship and selling out when times are good when we make it to the top flight, but over the last few years I've also seen us with parts of the ground closed when we have haven't been challenging in the top half of league one, and we only sold out a couple of times for a League game in League One, and for a lot of the time we was getting 18k grounds and the atmosphere was shit with the ground just over half full.

If we are going to do anything, a new double tiered kop would be the way to go, but until we are established in the PL, that will always be a theoretical question.

But they left in the 90’s. When it held 22,500.

Every stadium held more 50 year ago because there were no seats
Fewer seats, but certainly not ‘no’ seats. I was just replying to a post that said Roker Park held 24k. It didn’t specify a date. I was simply stating that when I used to go there it held over 50k.

Sell out means sold the tickets that we’re available.
