Wilson got it wrong.

We are two points better off than them. Yes we have two more games to play, but that's all they are at the moment - games to play. They have not been converted into points yet.

If Huddersfield drop points on Tuesday and we win on Wednesday I might feel a bit more positive again. But I am annoyed we let a big opportunity to really stake a claim for an automatic place go begging today, and losing to Wednesday just makes it that bit worse.

To be fair, there was always a good chance of defeat in this game, whatever the misplaced confidence by some before. We haven't exactl missed an open net.

Because of GD we're effectively 3 points in front, with 2 home games to come and 2 games in hand. And though we didn't look it 2nd half today, we're quite good at the minute.

Losing KM for a spell would hurt us more than todays result.

Keep writing, you're beginning to make me feel better!

I wouldn't be reacting quite as badly if it wasn't Wednesday we'd lost to. Defeat is never good, but when it's to them it makes it worse. The points we dropped to them cost us promotion in 2008-9 and I just do not want them to do it to us again. at the moment it feels a bit like history repeating itself. But the real nightmare scenario would be losing to them in the play-offs!

Having given Wilson time to prove himself overall I've been generally happy!!!
But today he has proved that he is not the 'God' some on here thinks he is!
Hopefully he will learn very quickly from today that:
1) Montgomery and Doyle in Cental Midfield is not a combination that either creates chances or is the mechanism for flowing passing football
2) Motgomery is not good enough - Full Stop
3) We do not have a ready made replacement for an injured McDonald
4) Cresswell is a spent force - his contribution to the game is now similar to Monty's - he tries hard and works his socks off - not good enough!!
5) He must start with either Hoskins or Beattie to partner Evans
6) He must change things to win games rather than change things when we are losing!!
7) Beattie and Hoskins need a tad longer than 5-10 mins to make an effect!
8) Sheffield United FC ALWAYS lets the fans down when it matters - a history of NO-BOTTLE - proved it again today - We have been let down time after time after time!!

Sorry Mr Wilson, we are where we are because it's a crap division and you have an expensive squad of 'championship' players!!
You have failed the test in derby's don't let us down on promotion!!!

Cresswell will still get 80 mins on wednesday - I think it's written in his contract. Must be because there's no other logical explanation.

He worked hard today and got a real kicking, did a real thankless task but i thought he needed to come off much sooner.

Needs a rest and BT should start alongside Ched on Weds

Swiss, Fed up with reading Cresswell worked hard - in fact he did bugger all! Yet he will start on Wednesday - Must have some embarrassing photos of Mr Wilson?

Cresswell has only scored one second half goal this season. This tells me that he can only "work hard" for 45minutes at most.
Both Hoskins & Beattie have looked more effective in the short amount of time they've been given on the pitch.
Thanks for your efforts Cressy - there's the exit.

You may well be, but again i thought he was the right player alongside Ched today. Did the thankless tasks and got no rewards for it.

I hope he is rested on Weds.

2nd half, the tactics were shit today. Several players looked well out of it, as wilson maybe told em to start fucking hoofing it. For a change, we see a blades team that cannot hoof it.Amazing.
Wilson bottled it completely today.
Cresswell, Quinn and Montgomery do not deserve a place in the side.

Had a feeling we were going to lose today. That's the reason why I put £20 on the Pigs to win. Would have been delighted not to be collecting my winnings. There is no great shame in losing at the Sty. Yes it hurts and yes it is frustrating. However it is a difficult ground to go to and they were always favourites. Only Charlton and Stevenage have won there and Brentord and Huddersfield taken points. The pigs knew they simply had to win and Megson could have been sacked otherwise. We really were going into a wounded lions den.

I agree that Wilson got it wrong. He should have stuck to our strengths and played footy. He could have made changes earlier. That said, I cannot blame him for playing for 0-0. At 60 mins I was saying, fuck I'll take a draw. Obviously so did he. However the goal was coming and he should have done something. Second half it was not working and the subs (the right moves) came way too late (after we'd lost).

The Pigs worked very hard. Their midfield battled and hussled and harried. I think that they wanted it a little more than us. Luckily we got ourselves into a great position and still look good. Wednesday will say it is wide open, but we have a great chance to bounce back. Scunny are a bit of a bogey team, but they are shite. No excuses for not stuffing them on Wedmesday. Then we've got Oldham at home. Perfect chance to put 6 points on the baord and forget about this. Huddersfield have a very tricky trip to Stevenage, so come the 1st of March we could be back to 5 points clear at the top and looking handsome.

Today was fucking frustrating, but not the end of the world. If we keep stuffing teams at the Lane we will be fine. We're still in the driving seat and it is ours to lose. I am a bit worried by our performances in the big games and the fact we are not clinical against the better teams. However, we deserve to be 2nd. We've been consistently the 2nd (possibly best) footballing side in the league and hopefully this will continue. Hopefully McDonald will be back as the fixture comes thick and fast in March.

Oh and Scunthrope at home. No way we should play Doyle and Monty in CM. Bring Quinn or Willo inside and play Flynn. Perhaps time to start with Hoskins or (dare I say it) Beattie. Play to our strengths. 4th from bottom at home. Let's give them a footballing lesson!

No need to panic. K Mac did not play in the hammerings we gave to Bury and Colchester at the Lane. But Doyle and Monty is not the answer. It does not play to our strengths at all.

Substitutions were made far to late.
Monty and Doyle never work together.
Looks as if Monty cannot play the Wilson way.
Would not be surprised if Monty moves on to Leeds in the summer as he is more suited to the Warnock/Blackwell style.
We missed MacDonald, imho Williamson in his place with Flynn out wide would have been a better option.
With the exception of Huddersfield away. strange how we seem to fail on the big occassion.
Having got that game out of the way the remaining fixtures look reasonable providing we get back to winning ways quickly on Wednesday.
Still plenty of points to play for and nothing certain yet except Charlton will win the league.

it's inevitable we'll end up playing that way though.. because of the personnel.. they can't play any different
I dont agree.
Tactics were what screwed it.
We were better than the scum first half but second half he told em to hoof it and they didnt know quite what to do.

I can't imagine they went in at half time, having not done too badly and had them worried whenever we passed the ball, that he then told them to stop playing and knock it long.

I'd imagine it was more in panic and the situation that made the players resort to it.

And the situation included carrying two passengers, the other being Quinn.

If so then it`s the players who were at fault.
Why, oh why, would they panic against Wednesday when they did not succumb to Hudds away?

and for half a match, a hiding Williamson.

Harry randomly hooking the ball out of play didn't help either mind, nor Lecs and Doyle being drawn out of position. I could go on.

Other than that though, yeah, those two, the two who made us lose.

The occasion? Wednesday closing us better? Our wingers creating less space?

Because matches against Wednesday mean more than matches against any other team.

The occasion?
The so called occasion never bothered em first half.
Wilson deliberately changed it. And made a huge screwup in the process.
In short, our manager bottled it.

Wilson screwed it all up with dire decisions and tactical changes second half.

Hope Wilson has the balls to shake it up a little on Wednesday night as he did after the last derby. Back then, at Preston, Wilson brought in Phillips, Clarke and Porter.

Assuming McDonald isn't fit, Willo into centre mid at Monty's expense, Flynn on the right and Hoskins for Cressie.

Ollesendro, had the same idea about putting dosh on the pigs to win, gutted now that I didn't but just couldn't bring myself to place that bet.

DW went for a tight game, hoping for a sneak win.. then they had a fluke moment of quality and scored. we should have changed immediately but it is easy to say that sat here.. we need to bounce back against scunny.. they are a bogey team and we owe them one.. but DW needs to shake things up now

because we were winning 1-0 for 87 mins of the match against Hudds? We could afford to calm it down and play it around.

Once we went 1-0 yesterday we panicked.

And yes, the subs were made too late...

The most worrying thing about yesterday is that this was the nearest we are going to get to playoff type conditions before the actual playoffs and, as usual, we came up short. It is vital that we go up automatically.
