Following on from the K Mac thread who would be your player of the season so far from the starting line up on Saturday

I'd go for Ched as well. Without his goals we wouldn't be anywhere at the moment.

What's impressed me about him this season is that a lot of his goals he's worked hard and created them for himself.

the goal he got on Saturday was sheer class for me

i'd go for Collins, been a rock at the back. Big test for him tomorrow.

Collins for me. Consistently rock solid. Had one, max 2, off days. But the rest he has been excellent. One of the main reasons were up there. Ched is a close second. His goals have fired us into contention for automatic. Like Highbury say's he his working hard and he is scoring goals from nothing. McDonald is the player of the moment and has been one of the best players in the league for the last 10 games. Should they all continue in the same form then it will be an interesting decision for player of the year come May.

I've voted for Ched. Ask me, however, which player has given me most pleasure [Careful now!] and it's K-Mac by a street [known as the M1].

fixed that for you pinchy
MunXy

Ive voted for collins but it was close between him and Simmo, you may laugh but both have had to endure enormous amounts of abuse but both have stepped up and not hidden, collins took it by virtue that his play has improved more than simmos and long may it continue.

August-October: Collins
November-December: Evans
January-February: McDonald

Rather than going off form, Collins and then Evans has just been overtaken by someone impressing even more.

I voted for Maguire - admittedly he's not the best player this season but for an 18 year old to play the number of games he has with the maturity he's shown is remarkable.

He pips Collins, Evans and, if he keeps up this level of performance, McDonald - but only just.

Gone for Collins. I admit I was one who said I would never go again while that useless twonk was in the team, at the end of last season.

Ate my trilby for lunch, and had a huge helping of humble pie for tea.

Ched has indeed impressed, but the player that has stepped up and been consistent , for me , is Collins.

I've gone for Willo, a bit of a unsung hero for me, equalled his best goal return so far this season, marked Marshall out of the derby before he was taken off thus they having more space and scoring two, plus his work rate is second to none.
Despite this Cheds goals have been invaluable
Cressy work effort quality
Quinn puts in a decent ball when he tries
Doyle holds the midfield together
KMac threads a killer pass, not many teams gave anyone like him
Collins&maguire look like theyve been playing together for years
Lowton his pace and attacking ability is quality
LJF can be risky but does the job where we aren't strong
Simmo pulled off sone quality saves to keep us in games
But most importantly - DW has truly transformed the team, taken stick, and now we in course for promotiom!
Finally, the subs monty, Flynn, Hoskins, Beattie these are all quality players just as good as the starting 11 crucial to have players like them coming off the bench!

Ched - definitely - looked a class apart at times. We'd be mid-table without him. Collins has had an excellent season so far too - by far our most reliable defender.

It's usually the case for the leading goal scorer to take all the plaudits. Another reason I plumped for Collins. Gone from just about the worst player in the squad to Mr Steady, and hardly put a foot wrong. (and I'm probably feeling a bit guilty for giving him so much hammer last season)

i've voted for macdonald.. basically because he is the first player in ages to put a smile on my face and have me actually looking forward to games.. so probably a popularity vote then but hey.. i'd have to mention collins as well .. who was that bloke last year?? his twin brother filling in while he got back from tibet?:D

I remember getting back from Reading away and slating Collins in my match report. Maybe he just needed to be able to trust the other centre half, rather than not knowing who was going to play next to him week in, week out.

Doyle is another one who's turned it round; he was truly woeful last season. However, that might well be something to do with the central midfield partnership of choice for Micky Adams being him and Montgomery.

In fairness, that was all he had available.

Quinn, Williamson, McAllister, Lowton and at a push, Harriott and Whitehouse could all have played there. While many of them, arguably, aren't as good individually as Montgomery or Doyle, they'd have offered something different. Monty and Doyle are too similar to play together in the middle - unless you've got epic wingers.

Got to be Collins, he really doesn't look like the same player as last season. I've never seen such contrasting seasons from last season to this in all my years watching us.

Collins for me not just for his displays but he has held together a very young inexperienced back 4 and brought maguire on brilliantly.

Isn't it nice that we have 3 serious contenders for PoY and a few dark horses? Last season we could not pick one. Quinn won it for putting in some effort (finally) towards the end of the season. Long may those 3 keep perfmorming. It's maasively important they do. If Collins, K Mac and Ched play like they have done, until the end of the season we have a massive shout for automatic promotion.

When would they have the official vote anyway on it? I'd imagine nothing would get announced til after the trial.

Collins only looks good because he's found his level, stick him back in the Championship and you will get the same cack as last year....

I voted for Lowton, he has been consistently excellent all season, solid at the back and a threat going forward.

Ched's goals have been importants but he still drifts in and out of games too much and his first touch is often biabolically bad...

Lowton - excellent going forward, inconsistent defending & struggles against pace. He's improved after an indifferent start but needs to improve the consistency of his defending.
