I had a £4 bet on Phillips to score at 6/4 and £8 Blackpool to win at 7/4
 
We aren't scared of any of their players.
 
Having watched the Pigs a few times of late (using missus' season card), I can assure you that 'Reeeda' being available for the derby shouldn't worry us at all.

He is typical Megson - all hoof and push and shove. The biggest danger he will be is at set pieces but we know that United need to be strong when defending those already.

Against Yeovil, he went on a bit of a run down the left at one point. The Grunters were loving it (Reeeeda! Reeeeda!) even though he ran into trouble and looked like the Great Khali playing football. It was so clumsy but I think the deluded Pigs thought he was Roberto Carlos Mk2 afterwards. His main job is to stand in the way of the right winger and muscle him out of it. This is where our great strength will be when we go to the Theatre of Rust and win - Lowton and Williamson's understanding and their link play with Ched is superb right now and they won't run at him and get muscled out. They'll football their way around him and leave him chasing shadows.

I've seen them play poor vs. Charlton, poor vs. Hartlepool and poor vs. Yeovil in recent weeks. Unless someone does something magical (to be fair, Jermaine Johnson is playing well in patches at the moment), they simply rely on hoofing the ball into the area and trying to bully the ball into the net. If United are strong, and that is a big if unfortunately, they should be able to exploit Reeeda and get around the back of him. United will win the game down that side of the pitch IMO.

Nothing to worry about. If we lose it's just one of those games where the luck (and ref.) will be on their side - something we've seen in the last few years.

Personally, I'll be glad if we're 3-4 points behind them after the derby - catchable and breathing down their porky necks. Still, a lot can happen fixture-wise and this weekend could see a shedload of matches off again. I hope Wendy at Exeter is called off. At 2.55. Their 10,000 fans won't half be disappointed.

Saw the Blackpool goals on Look Leeds last night and the gaps in the Wendy defence were nearly as large as those in the crowd. Haven't seen the attendance yet, but certainly looked short of their usual 28,500. Possibly 27,000.
 
If we're good enough we will win. If we aren't we won't. Its not difficult.
 
Been thinking about the Reda issue. I was pretty disgusted when he got the yellow card and nodded acceptingly to the referee. I am sure he would say his reason for this nod was that he thought it was a justified yellow card, I think we know different.
In retrospect, its just football I guess. Stuff like this goes off all the time ( See David Beckham, Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos for reference) and who cares anyway, we have enough to beat them.
With regards to last night, I would love to be critical but to be honest, it reminded me of when we played Birmingham. They were just outclassed by a faster, technically superior outfit. I am confident of getting something at the theatre of rust :) but it wont be a cake walk. They are dangerous from set pieces and as one dimensional as their play is, it is clearly working most games.
Also, a tip for sky sports customers. I get the full sports package but didnt have ESPN until last night. I called sky and said I want ESPN but dont want to pay! They give it you 2 motnhs for free with no obligation to continue after that.

I seem to remember the elegant stick insect waiting ages and ages to take a throw-in until the ref booked him so he'd miss a cup game in the promotion season.

I remember that - towards the end of the game down at the Kop end. Hulse had come on as sub and the ball went out for an Arsenal throw near the goal they were defending. We were, of course, hanging on to a 1-0 lead and as an Arsenal player went to pick the ball up, Hulse ran past him and wellied it into the crowd. A more obvious deliberate booking I never saw.

On a serious note, surely its not beyond the wit of refs to note before a game who might be looking to get deliberately booked and, if he believes a player has done just that, to send him off. Alternatively the FA could retrospectively extend a player's suspension to cover the games he was trying to avoid being suspended for if it thinks the booking was contrived.

What was the evidence used to fine Jose Mourhino for instructing Alonso and Ramos to get booked/sent off? Did he actually admit to it? think him and the pplayers got hefty fines. In fact ill google it and anwer my own question!

UEFA have reduced some of the sanctions handed out to Real Madrid relating to the dismissals of Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos in the recent Champions League match against Ajax following an appeal by the Spanish side.

Madrid were last week found guilty of improper conduct after Alonso and Ramos seemed to deliberately incur second bookings for time-wasting late on in the 4-0 win over Ajax in Amsterdam a fortnight ago.

Those dismissals would therefore wipe out previous cautions ahead of the Champions League knockout stage, with the players only missing this week's clash with Auxerre, which is a dead rubber for already-qualified Madrid.

'The fines handed down by the UEFA control and disciplinary body to the Madrid players Xabi Alonso and Sergio Ramos (20,000 euros each), Iker Casillas (10,000 euros) and Jerzy Dudek (5,000 euros) remain the same.

'The one-match suspensions handed down to Alonso and Ramos also stand.'

Good point. Two of the top teams in League One have been beaten 3-0, at home, to a couple of better-than-average Championship teams.

Just shows how crap the Third Division is.

there was a massive 10.000 apparently but teams usually add up the numbers wrong in the FA cup
 
Typical Health and Safety. They did their risk assessment and only allowed 10K into the ground! 40 million locked out!
 
Only a tenner to get in , two games from Wembley [ however it was on one of those Foreign tv chanels ] against higher opposition , they do seem to have more supporters than anyone else .
