New year health kick? Fancy wobbling round the pitch with other unfit Blades? Come and show this old man how to play!

This is in General Blades Chat as it is an open invite to all.

For a few years, a number of us have been intermittently meeting on a Sunday morning to have a friendly, "non-competitive" game of football. It started as a way to keep in touch through the close season and carried on.

All age-ranges and abilities are welcome and the cost of the pitches are shared equally between those playing.

This week we'll be playing at Goals, Norfolk Park Road and the cost will be £2 each, most probably less if we get enough.

So, if anyone is free this coming Sunday morning and fancies a game, this is what you need to know:

Venue: Goals, Norfolk Park Road, Sheffield

Time: 10:00
Cost: Around £2 each - most probably less.
What you need: Trainers or astro-turf boots. No studs. Shinpads optional. A sense of humour.

Guests are welcome.

Please yay or nay for definite by Friday night if possible.

We've played there in snow before

It rained so bad one day we had to abide by the no bombing in the shallow end rule.

I should be ok to play.

I played there the other week when it chucked it down and the pitches were that waterlogged, you could shoot from the half way line and it would only just reach the next - I'm surprised the match was still on!

We'll still have a weather check, but it's been snowing non-stop since around 2pm in S8 and space of an hour walking Linz to work there were a few inches up against the gate when I returned.... So it's looking unlikely!

We've just been out for a takeaway not realising how bad it is - cars are getting stuck and the roads are in a bad way. Granville Road is a death trap! The snow isn't showing any signs of stopping either

The snow's stopped here in S12 - with the gritters out in the morning there's a chance we might be ok. Fingers crossed.
