Harry Maguire £80m; Brewster £23m; McBurnie £20m>>>>SUFC £115m

Someone's got a bargain buy here haven't they?

Manchester United?
Sheffield United?
Henry Mauriss?

So could Jebbison. But you wouldn't pay £25M in the hope of that, so on that measure we definitely bought a dud with Brewster.
If he comes good £23 mill could be a steal. He is still only 21. He has been a dud so far for sure, but so have many others.

Massive season for him next year, really hoping that he stays fit.

Same with Jebbo as well.

When you've been a Blade as long as I have, and you look at the madness of the equation (Maguire+Brewster+McBurnie are greater in value than Sheffield United) then you just have to smile sagely and maybe reflect on other crazy things like , for example, the fact that Boris Johnson is our Prime Minister......

The point being he looks in a par with any prospect coming out of the academy, and the stats are no better.

So we can safely say that for £23m, we’ve had our pants removed and been dry bummed.

Hopefully he will develop from here, but we clearly didn’t get what we paid for.

In fairness Jebbison hadn’t scored a hatful of goals in the Championship - Brewster and McBurnie both had.
You can see why we got our pants removed yes. It doesn’t alter the fact that more than two years later, it’s clear that we have. :)

While in the Liverpool academy he was described as the best striker/finisher they've developed since Michael Owen. How much would 18 year old Michael Owen be worth in today's market? Rhian had also just had a decent season for Swansea, so on that basis £20m looked good.

It's no surprise that a finisher is unable to finish when the finisher is never given anything to finish in the first place.

It’s the fact that you have to pay those fees for the low quality on offer that dictates that football clubs will always be terrible acquisitions, from a business perspective.

So, you’d argue Brewster did well with the chances offered him?

You’ve seen something different to me (and Billy Sharp) fella.

Sale of the Century is what Klopp said to his directors when they unloaded him to poor Sheff United......
Pants down doesn’t come into it because that term is quite funny.....Brewster isn’t amusing he’s a horribly overpriced dud...likewise with...McBurnie....Moose....Freeman...etc...etc

I take it you weren't watching Brewster for the final 8-9 games before he got injured? Muppet

That is a very fair and realistic point of course, but the root of the problem is the ridiculous cycle of grossly inflated transfer fees and totally unrealistic and unjustified wages. Ultimately it cannot be sustainable and the day of reckoning will arrive - just a matter of time.

Didn’t Madejski make a profit on at least two of the clubs he owned ?

In the Premiership he didn't do enough to help himself, barely touched the ball and overall was poor. That season was obviously an odd one for many reasons so a little unfair to judge him too harshly, and there was a knock on effect confidence-wise going in to this season. I still believe he's shown enough in his last few appearances (before the unfortunate injury) to suggest he'll eventually justify his transfer fee and will hopefully be our first choice striker for years to come.

Mmmm Louise Wener. Best post on here for a long time. Well done Sir.

Yes. Thrice so.

One of those girls at school who suddenly, one day, becomes a fucking fixation in your mind and is 100% fuckable.

Except she is fucking someone in the top six of the PL, meanwhile you are mid table in the Conference.

I'd given up on him but I have to agree that something seemed to have clicked for him just before his injury. Think your being optimistic with 8-9 games but certainly 3-4.
