McBurnie injury

If this is a more serious injury, one which rules him out for a bit - will he have gone a full season without scoring a goal?

Shocking if so. Doesn't tell the full story of course, but still.

The player with the record for not finishing 90 minutes in a season had already been taken.

After a couple of injuries to his feet he needs to shed those mamby pamby slippers that he wears.
Go back to the old style cow leather boots. The ones that came up over the ankle and weighed a ton when they got wet. He could run through a brick wall with them. No player would dare go into a tackle against those man killing toe caps. Although they would hamper his lightning like speed.

Genuinely thought mcburnie would come into his own this year back in the champ

Injuries have just not let him get any form at all even when he has been half fit the past month he has either been ill or injured

Get well soon Oli mac
Bet you still have him up front in your team to ‘Crush Cardiff’ on Saturday.

If he’s out for next 3 games is he done as a Blades player? Contracts up this summer innit?

Sadly not.
4 year contract.
Based on what we have seen (last two seasons where he has scored one league goal and missed penalties in the league cup knocking us out both seasons) the problem is Heckingbottom would want to keep him anyway.
Which is why I was all for him talking over last year and this UNTIL he picked this ****.
What is he, what is anyone, 'thinking' playing this ****?

You could easily flip that for, say, Chris Basham - he walked off under his own steam despite demonstrably needing crutches.
I walked 1 mile when I broke my ankle out fell running
Spent 8 months in a walking calliper and two further opps took 2 years so not always the wisest thing to do is it

So, we're going into the playoff push with two youngsters and half a Billy Sharp?

Rotten luck.

Looks like he may be done for a while:

Feel for the guy. I know he's not performed but it's not through lack of trying IMO. Just can't catch a break. I'd love him to come good for us, but it feels like he's cursed if he continues to wear a United shirt.

Full season without a leauge goal yeah which is shocking

Looking at the amount of actual minutes he's played, it's not even 12 games worth. Which, while still not what we're wanting, is required in context of "full season without a league goal". If he'd played 3k+ minutes, then you might have a point

Did you say the same about Leon Clarke after he was awarded his new contract and scored only 1 goal the following season ?
Leon Clarke scored 19 league goals in 3,332 minutes in 17/18 and 6 league goals in 1,767 minutes in 18/19. He cost peanuts and was bought as League One squad filler. He was part of one of the best results we've had in recent times where he scored 2 goals against our rivals.

Oli McBurnie is currently 0 league goals in 1,013 minutes played and cost £20m.

Good comparison.

Shhhh don't bring facts in to it. That's not the way things work on here.
Needed a good run of starts and to find some genuine fitness, one to fly in off his arse or something to try and get a shred of confidence back, just didn't happen for him.

Everyone was saying the same about Brewster, he went an awfully long time without scoring (probably more minutes than Oli did, not done the legwork to check).
He was the worst signing in the clubs history. Started showing a bit of form, scored a couple of goals and now he's a big miss for us.

Oli has been very poor in the most the last couple of years, but he's a Sheff Utd player, get well soon Oli.

Hopefully this'll give him time to get over the other health issues he's been facing.
Get a good pre-season in and repay the faith shown to you from the club and the staff (not going to say the fans, because 90% had made their minds up about you as soon as they saw how you wear your socks).

Mousset played for about 5 minutes this sesson and bagged 3.

And he’s still bizarrely the one who’s most lauded for being the most lazy/injured/disinterested.

Brewster has also played fewer minutes and scored 3 in the league.

He only scored 3 for us in 2018-9 - the other 3 were for Wigan, but that hardly detracts from your point.

Mitrovic has scored 40 goals so far this season but only scored 4 last year in the PL.

Blaming the manager for a striker not scoring goals is sometimes missing the point.

Ah, the apologists are creeping back.

His record is pathetic any way you slice it.

Where did I say he's got a good record? I'm only saying that saying that someone hasn't scored in a whole season is misleading if someone's not even played a quarter of it. That a forward has not scored in a quarter of a season is still shit.

8 goals in 3 seasons is more than 'not catching a break' he's fucking shite

Really bad season for McBurnie. We've defended him but its two very bad seasons back to back. Not scoring a league goal for 2 seasons is awful.
