9 points in 8 games is terrible form.
Most of those games have been against mid tabled teams too, points we’d expect to pick up!

Injuries have prevented us, but our team choice & match substitutes have been awful. Our chances created & goals scored are the lowest in the league in April.

Next season we will be where Bristol etc are if we don’t strengthen.

I feel it’s going to get much worse before it gets better.

Our performances werent fantastic before that though tbf.

Millwall was absolutely appalling, Blackburn we got away with it at the end, Swansea was a great win but that followed a couple of impotent performances against Hull at home and Huddersfield away.

Boro should have been the catalyst for the rest of the season but it just hasnt been.

Yeah just when you think the players will go for it the business end of the season and avenge last season and have a go, we fall to pieces. Injuries haven’t helped but still we’ve thrown some valuable points away recently.

Who can blame the players when in the 96th minute, urgency required our esteemed gaffer deems what we need is a break in play so that he can bring on Mrs Hourihane
I suppose at that point of the game he's probably thinking the only route to goal is a set-piece and with Hourihane being a specialist that's why he came on.

He did get involved in one to be fair to him, the cross just got blocked.

This may sound boring but having no striker or fit striker has been our undoing. We saw tonight how lacking we are up front. Considering how unlucky we have been with injuries, to be in the mix with 3 to play is nothing short of amazing.

I see this excuse a lot with injuries and whilst I agree we’ve been very unfortunate, surely there comes a point where the players conditioning/facilities/training becomes a contributory factor too?

It wasnt too long ago under Wilder that we were one of the best conditioned teams in the division and hardly had any injuries.

Almost as if he’d have brought him on 10 minutes earlier he might have actually been able to have a proper impact on the game.

This. I'm not sure what our fans are expecting. We have no striker. Half our first team is injured. Apparently all our players are terrible and yet so is our manager getting our terrible players into 6th.

So he takes off the injured Fleck and Hourihane's one and only touch is a low cross into the box which could have given us a chance. And you're moaning about that?

I’m certainly not saying that, but what is clear is how awful our build up play is, in April we’re bottom in the whole league for chances created. That’s worrying.

If we make the play-offs, I doubt very much we would have enough to trouble Huddersfield or Forest over two legs.

Its not rocket science is it, we have no fit strikers, we have half a team as we've had injuries for ages. We've had two managers, we've got no money for players.
Its a miracle we are still 6th. Personally I think Hecky is doing a great job with nothing.
Let me just highlight
WE ARE 6th and CURRENTLY IN THE PLAY OFFS
Next season will be an entirely different proposition which ever league we are in.
Wish people would stop moaning and look on the bright side.

We simply don't have enough quality at the moment to convert the slick tippy tap and nice 1-2's into goals
That'll happen when you have your 4 first choice strikers injured and your most creative wingback.

We’ve been shit to watch, Swansea and Boro apart, pretty much since Bogle got inured
Played some good stuff at times today, committed men forward. Got caught on the break a few times as a result, however we have been a lot less pleasing on the eye in the latter part of the season. Even Baldock putting his socks in a Bogle style didn’t help him today.

He went from being about 3 yards clear of his man, to hitting said man with the ball. So yes

An interesting point re strikers. Our second highest goal scoring strikers in the league are Brewster and Mousset who have both scored 3.

Brewster of course is a huge miss, but we’ve also sent Mousset out on loan. Whatever your thoughts on Mousset, there is no doubt he could still be being used as an impact sub and at least allowed Sharp some more rest time late on in games.

Interestingly, only 22 of our 55 league goals this season have been scored by what you’d consider to be out and out strikers. 14 of those have been scored by Billy Sharp. The stats would suggest that it isnt having no strikers available per se that is our problem, its the fact that the strikers we do have simply arent good enough.

Play like we did on Friday and you’re right but the best team or the ‘in form’ team doesn’t always prosper. We’ve been the form team going into playoff games in the past and have frozen on the day. In 2017 Huddersfield had a negative goal difference and didn’t score in open play in the playoffs and went up.

Just watching Forest vs West Brom. I think I’d enjoy my summer more if we missed out without the pain of playing them with how bad we are defensively.

Maybe we too hasty in clearing the decks , as much as Moose is injury prone he’s better than what we have up front at present

It’s more that he’s obviously upset Hecky I’d say. He’s hinted more than once at his lack of professionalism, you don’t know how that would permeate into other players if the fat waste of space was still here and not stinking out the bottom of Serie A instead.

Same could be said for Burke as well, other than Sharp, none of our strikers have the greatest goalscoring record, however most of them were still young and they at least offered us something different.

A lot of games this season we’ve been crying out for something else, and we just dont have it available. Today was a great example where we needed another option to get us over the line.

Thats a fair point and I dont think its any secret he had issues off the field.

The problem is, he was actually one of our better strikers, statistically anyway.

But like you say, its a shame that he was always injured and a bit of a pain in the arse.

Running on empty, look totally knackered and devoid of ideas in front 2 thirds, defence very creaky, regroup next season and go again.Rather not have heartache of play offs again

Wilder had the last laugh.

The only reason we are still sixth is because the teams around are equally as bad. Seems like no one can be arsed to finish in the play-offs, our lot included.

Millwall will pip us. They've a softer a run-in and are in better form.
