BBC1 are to axe the football league show because they cannot afford it despite paying Alan Hanson £40K per show on the MOTD.
Will you miss our 10 seconds after waiting for an hour while they show other teams?
I think it is sad that SKY have totally monopolised football.

I never watch it live, and usully grab it on iplayer on a Sunday. Even then I normally just skip straight to league 1. They should have a featured game from every league on each week.

I did the same Highbury. It's a shame there's not a proper regional programme on where everyone would get better coverage. They could stick it online for those who live out of the area.

The BBC do do regional football programmes don't they on Monday nights? A least they used to anyway. I think clem used to host the Yorkshire one.

Just read the blog on bbc site and the terms of the deal they share with SKY to show football league highlights is that they cannot show anything on the same day as the live match.
That must be why they show it after midnight on Sunday morning.

As shite as the Football League show actually is, with the wooden delivery from the presenter and then Claridge, who can barely string a coherent sentence together and just talks bollocks all the time, it is a shame that there will no longer be an outlet for the FL on free to air television.

The proportion of blame for this should fall at the feet of Sky, who have consistently overpaid for everything, just to ensure that they get it, which means that when the beeb goes to the negotiating table, the financial bar is already set impossibly high for a licence fee paying organisation to justify paying out.

I dont know how much these things cost, but you have to wonder when the BBC pay "£1.5M" per year for an ex pro to comment for 2 minutes after 5 games a week if there aren't better areas for cuts.

They keep shite like "6 music" or whatever it is, watched by about 12 people, because they're a public service broadcaster. They they offer a 3rd rate bolt on to premiership football that everyone can get from Sky, and vacate the rest of the game. Shame.

If the other 72 teams can't muster enough support to have a programme dedicated to them then thre is an issue. The FL show has its faults but they do try and feature random clubs and their story. The highlights should be more evenly spread and there is a bias toward certain ex prem clubs.

Must we all support Man U and have a 'second' team that we look for should, heaven forbid, Man U don't win that weekend? I met loads of people who supported Man U and Liverpool at uni who had their local team as their second. I couldn't help but think they were knobs. Such is the saturation of coverage toward these teams though, I find myself aware of everything about them without really trying to find out.

In terms of budget cuts, 6 music deserved saving and probably costs fuck all to run. Prioritising other money is needed and surely a programme to cover the rest of the leagues should be saved.

I don't think it's on anymore. Or at least I haven't realised...Which means they need to advertise it better :p

I will definitely miss it I can receive BBC with my SAT receiver and even watch it even later with the red button. They can stuff their match of the day. I can still watch it at a later date with the Blades player. It's all heading to watch the top Shit in the UK.

I'll not miss the BBC's Football League show as it is shit. I don't like Manish, and think Claridge is the worst pundit on television.

The BBC's sport coverage used to be excellent, but it declined a lot in recent years, and instead of MOTD i always watch Goals On Sunday on Sky instead, or the Football League show's on there.

I'm a huge cricket fan, and i had my doubts about Sky getting the summer Test's and wasn't sure how good their coverage would be it, but without doubt they have enhanced it no end.

If the BBC wanted to know how to cover the football league, they should have followed ITV with the Sunday Morning Championship programme they did, that was first class.

Having said all that, if the BBC cuts have any effect on TMS then i will not be a happy bunny.

what we are all missing is the income angle
no more live bbc games halves the opportunity to get money in the coffers

was our game with notts county the last we get , if so were as bad off as when ITV digital went pop

No more live BBC games happened when we got relegated. The Beeb only have the Championship live games.

Considering its on after motd on a sat night people are either pissed, on the piss or sleeping.

The current format is shite and I don't like the so called experts.

Get it on a sun morn or evening and the viewing figures would justify the programme.

3 well supported leagues and the BBc will happily invest in other shite instead of the nations favourite game.

That's true and it makes you wonder if the Beeb have deliberately dragged down the viewing figures to justify it. Of course MoTD should be on first, but on the times it's been a bit earlier, did we get TFLS earler? Did we fuck. If there was a chance of TFLS being on, say 40 minutes earlier, the Beeb would slot in a shite film to ensure TFLS appeared after midnight.
Also, if a league game was on live at Saturday teatime, which would be the featured match on TFLS? Yup, the live match.
Throw in presenters who make Look North look polished - Bashin, Claridge and that over excitable bald wanker - time taken up showing the coach arrive, team get off and walk to the dressing rooms and all that bollocks, and it was doomed to fail.

6 Music is a radio station, not a TV Channel. And I have to say, as one of the 12, I would miss it much more than the FL Show. I think it probably has much higher listening figures than the FL Show has viewers too. 6 Music was saved by listener action last year, when it was under serious threat of the axe. If you feel so strongly, why not start something similar for the FL Show?

I still can't work out why they don't just put it on BBC 2 or even the red button feature, putting it on so late at night will never attract many viewers, though I fear this is what they wanted in order to justify the cut.

Never mind, I'll keep watching Netbusters on SS or just hope that late kick off comes back on again, rather handy having BBC Yorkshire through sky :)
