The U23s have a home game scheduled for TUESDAY 1 March at 1pm, Shirecliffe v Hull City. We're currently 2nd in the table in a play off position. (Remember we play in Academy Division 3 & there's no promotion). We're 5 points ahead of 3rd place Hull City having played 2 games less. So, a win would help us settle more into the top two. However, trailblazers Coventry City look some way off in top spot. Six points ahead, although we have got two games in hand on them. There's quite a full fixture list, so we'll see how it's all shaken down tomorrow night.

The U23s have won four on the spin, although two of those were cup games.

By needy & pleady I assume you refer to not-in-Sheffield FC? As far non-league goes I found the trip there well below what's on offer at Hallam and that's before I even get started on the ticket prices and what they're doing to Meadowhead...

I may be being a bit thick here, Phil, but why are there playoff spots if there's no promotion?

There's a semi final against the top two teams in the Southern group then a final at the end for the overall winner.
Thanks. That's right. The Professional Development League is split into a North Group & a South Group. The top two in each group go into a Final Four to decide the National PDL Champions. (Incidentally never won by SUFC, although Sheffield Wednesday have won it).

I don't think that non-league rivalries should spill over into the - you're a Pig, no you're the Pig - nonsense we get in money football. But, as a Hallam season ticket holder, I will contrast the building a sustainable income model approach of Hallam with the we constantly seem.to need a new ground, and we're the oldest club, so send your money now, approach "down the hill" at Sheffield FC.

Slightly off topic (well, actually a lot off topic), but did they ever get a decent beer on in the Hallam clubhouse bar?

Well....
There is always one Cask Ale on. Sometimes one from the Marston's stable. But sometimes one from Crosspool Ale Makers Society (who are one of the club sponsors).
But, I always reach for one of the Crosspool Ale Makers Society cans...
He Ain't Heavy, Czech style pilsner at 4%
On The Loose, New World IPA at 5.1%
Straight Outta Crosspool, American IPA at 5.6%

They're £3.75 for a 440 in the bar
Or £3 at the outside can bar
Or two for a fiver at the outside can bar

Friday Jebbo on
"Enjoy yerself" says Hecky
Jebbo does just that

Yeah I thought the owner of Crosspool Ale Makers had said he has a pump on at the clubhouse (think he paid for it to be put in), and I don't mind all the beers you mention (with Straight Outta Crosspool probably my fave amongst that lot), plus as he is a big Blades fan, don't mind giving him some support!

Hit of Miss. No Crosspool on the Can Bar tonight FFS. (Got some in the Main Bar....)

It’s pretty irrelevant how well he played, I’m sure even Mousset managed a goal in the u23’s earlier in the season. It’s hopefully just a fitness exercise for the lad.

Did he look fit, good touch, make good runs / movement off the ball. Did he look to have improved from where he was last year ?
I would say it is relevant

He’s had half a season at Burton for us to ascertain that. U23’s is a mile off the first team so the Burton experience is a lot more relevant.
