Slight holiday boast trigger warning ;)

On Saturday morning I got a 7am flight to Manchester (delayed) from Barcelona, then took the train across to Sheffield (also delayed, was stuck outside Dore for nearly half-an hour) making it just in time for kick-off.

Has anyone ever travelled further for making it for a 3pm/lunchtime kick-off on the same day? I'm sure someone has, though would be interested in hearing it!

UTB- Was definitely worth it :D

Yes but away and the most disappointing thing I have ever done. Coming back from a lads week away in September to Ibiza landed at Luton Airport on the Saturday morning in 2008 getting the train to Derby, dropped my suitcase off in a mates car and watched the 2-1 loss, their first win since relegation and Rob Hulse scoring against us. Had a week long hangover which didn't lighten the mood!

I flew back from Cayo Coco in Cuba on an overflight, landed in Manchester at 10am, picked the suitcases up, drove back over the Snake Pass, dropped the missus off at home to get cracking on the washing and then went off to watch United play Port Vale at home in the 2013/14 season. Chris Morgan was caretaker at the time

I once flew back from working as a journalist in Afghanistan (Camp Bastion) on the Thursday to watch the Blades play away (and lose 1-0) at Wycombe on the Saturday (a 3pm kick off) so that's roughly 4,723 miles and thanks again to Mick Rooker for helping me get the ticket for that one. I then returned to Afghanistan.

Other than that I travel 360 round trip miles for every home game I attend.

I often question my life decisions.

I once flew back from Australia for the day to watch us play Chesterfield at Saltergate in a pre-season friendly, but as it was an away game I guess that doesn't count.
Other than that, about 12 mins from Crookes.
Flew back for a day? Then went back to Oz after?
That has got to be the highest / most commited.

Flew back from a business trip in Milan for the first game back in the Championship in 2017. We had the meeting on the Friday afternoon then went out in Milan on the Friday night. Tried (and failed miserably) to pull a Swedish girl then ended up in the back of an Italian police car after our Chief Exec had his wallet stolen by a bloke selling fake watches. Ended up barely making it back to the airport in time for the flight on Saturday morning and was at the Lane just before 3.

1-0 win v Brentford, Leon miskicking his cross, Brentford fans mocking him then he lifted it with his other foot for Bill to score. Decent weekend looking back.

That's cos Milan is in Italy. Should have gone to Sweden.

Where do you live mate?

Don't need number and postcode like, just a town 🤣

furthest ive ever travelled for a home game. is London, as i had tickets for world athletics championship on the friday night & then fixture computer scheduled us at home to brentford at 3pm on the Saturday. in our 1st game back in the championship. it is weird feeling

If anyone has similar stories that don't quite fit the criteria in the OP do go ahead.

The most unique aspect of mine I suppose was that I didn't even have time to drop my bag off anywhere. It was a large rucksack and I explained the situation to the steward who kindly let me in after checking it, absolute legend 👏 👏 👏

A similar question would be (without going political), who has the largest carbon footprint because of watching the Blades?

Not even close to meeting the OPs brief, but I used to fly from Oz to France every year to watch the Le Mans 24 hour

Camping in shitty tent in a shitty field whilst having almost no sleep for three days (record was 4 hours sleep in 72 hours), book ended with major flights. Great times but it’s all a blur. Expensive too.

Returned overnight from Florida to attend 3pm k.o.at the Lane in the 1990s. I think it was Blackburn Rovers , which is odd.
I don’t travel to evening matches now, although it is only an 85 mile round trip !

When I first moved over to Ireland , in the eighties
I used to Ferry it over on a Friday night , get into Liverpool for 7.30 , hour long train trip to Manchester , then train it Sheffield
So started off 10.30 Friday night , got into Sheffield 11.30 Saturday morning
Then make reverse trip Sunday afternoon, straight into work Monday morning
For Ferry plus Return train fare cost 36 notes
A plane to Manchester cost 200 notes return back then only BA or Aer Lingus
Now fly Ryanair and depending on time - Manx clubs at home 40-80 notes , not including train tickets - food or ale
Not so easy as rambling down ta Lane from Norfolk park / Skyedge when I lived in Sheff
