McBurnie....

Didn’t buy Oliver McBurnie.
Didn’t set the transfer fee for Oliver McBurnie.
Doesn’t select Oliver McBurnie.

Does put a shift in.
Does give 100%

Isn’t a great striker and personally I’d have Jebbison or even convert Bogle or Berge to a striker ahead of him but calling him names and giving the lad shit is just daft

He was ok. Certainly not the reason we didn’t win.

His touch and ability to strike the ball are largely poor though. I think Sharp actually holds the ball up better, despite being smaller.

I’m no McBurnie fan, but he will have a bit of a role to play for us until the end of the season, but for me that should largely be off the bench.

The knocking of sharp and his record is ludicrous.

If McB has a career like that he'll have done well.

All that being said, we are where we are and this is McBs chance to prove people wrong
How long do you give him?

He's probably had 8 or 9 efforts on goal this past 2 games and failed to score once on top of his 1 in 10 scoring record with us.

In being so profligate we've probably waived goodbye to the outside chance of top two on the back of the past 2 matches. We'd have been 7 behind with Bournemouth still to play at the Lane.

It's 11 now.

So do we keep dropping Sharp, persevere with McBurnie and risk a top 6 spot too?

He's ok as a defensive centre forward. Throw him on to help at set pieces, maybe hold the ball a bit. Get you a goal? Not likely.

I'd rather blood Jebbo. He's shown on at least 9 occasions this season at only one level below that he knows where the goal is. That's 9 more than McBurnie this season in the league.

McBurnie had a good game, he had a couple of dodgey first touches when the ball was fizzed into him.

But his all round game was bang on and he 100% put a shift in. He’s not played in ages so he’ll be rusty. I would put some money this thread will not age well come the end of the season if he carries on playing like that with his heart on his sleeve.

The goals will come with this boy.

The bloke has scored 7 league goals for us in 2.5 seasons. Putting a shift in and making some good defensive headers just isn't enough. His return, pound for pound is woeful and he's showing no signs of turning into a goal scorer for us.

The bigger issue for me is what we are doing with Jebbison. Why have we recalled an inform and confident striker and stuck them on the bench behind an out of form striker who doesn't score goals? Jebbison will no doubt have lost a lot of that confidence now through not playing and who knows what this could do for his development if we continue to keep him on the bench. The club may say that McBurnie is more of an asset, but I'm sure if we were to try and sell both players now that Jebbison would attract a lot more interest and hold more value than McBurnie who has done nothing for 18 months.

He’s totally useless. He starts we don’t win we don’t even score, he can’t run he can’t control the fucking ball he’s scoring record is abysmal. Definitely can’t start against his beloved Swansea.
Loved Wilder but Christ he bought some utter crap 17 million ffs for a decent Sunday league player.
He’s worthless now, loan him out to fucking Pigs

He started this game where we beat the champions of Europe the season after 3-0

He also started this one as well

By no means am I saying he is the second coming of Pele but some of our fans live in an alternate universe where billy sharp is the greatest player in history because Hes scored a few tap ins and penalties in the last month and mcburnie is the worst because he hasn't scored a hat trick after 20 mins after been out and barley starting a run of games in a year

JUST FACTS

Any videos from this season or last season showing McBurnie doing what he's paid to do?! Didn't think so.

I don't understand this take at all.

The very same player missed a one v one in the first half. He was gifted the chance, had time and rather than stroking the ball in the corner, he hit it at a nice height directly at the keeper.

I don't see how this gives you any additional confidence that he would score N'Diaye's chance especially when you witness his striking of the ba from outside the box.

I don't get why McBurnie and McGoldrick can't strike a football cleanly and with power.

They skuff it more than not. No wonder he's missed both shoot out kicks he's taken for us.

I don't have an agenda and I'm not interested in his private life unless it is bringing bad press to United. But for 17m I'm just amazed he can't do such basics like shooting and simple ball control. When the ball is passed to him with any pace he looks about as comfortable as Prince Andrew at a BBC interview.

"After something that happened in the Premier League, I got an overdose of adrenaline and as a result I can't score goals" 🤣

I think Hull turned over the ball back to him twice in that phase of play and he still didn't fucking score. 🤦‍♂️

When the opposition are serving it up on a plate and you still don't score then I am not sure where he can go from here.

Agreed.

He's come back after injury and long covid and immediately every fucker is on his back....he's played 562 minutes this season or just 6.2 games....and only 2 full 90 minute appearances.

He is playing in a team that has shit loads of possession but doesn't create many clear chances or score many goals.... in case anyone needs reminding we have scored just 39 goals all season....down at Fulham their main striker has scored 31 on his own.

But hey, let's get on his back and criticise at every opportunity at least it gives Norwood a week off and deflects away from how shit he was second half.

I don't think it's unrealistic to expect that we'd have more video evidence of him scoring goals in the last 18 months than what you have provided. It pretty much proves my point.

Thanks
So now you’re twisting your own question to suit, right…
