Mcburnie

WTF!! we had 22 shots, McBurnie had 5 maybe 6 efforts on goal ffs. You wanting him to have a chance 1 yard out with their defenders stood cheering him on. This love in for this useless lump is getting out of control.
No mate it is the hatred from you and others that is out of control.

I'm not his greatest fan, but I thought he played well tonight. Worked hard, linked well, but for once actually got into the box & onto the end of some half chances (he didn't miss any sitters). Far more encouraging than we've seen from him before.

You can see he isn't fully fit yet, but he doesn't deserve to be scapegoated for tonight.
It's so overly simplistic to look at the scoreline and blame the striker. That isn't what tonight was about.

The one criticism would be, when MGW and Ndiaye are on the park we don't need McBurnie dropping deep looking for work. Be the focal point, but stay in and around the box. Work the central defenders and attack the near post when we're playing triangles out wide.
Oli, if you're reading this, watch Mitrovic as your homework this week.

Wrong, we are blades we want us to go up, we need goals to go up, we know McBurnie will not score these goals, you know he will not score these goals, but you will never admit it and will keep sticking up for him because you have shouted his praises all along and don’t want to look daft by now saying you have got it wrong. No shame in it we all get it wrong with players but everyone with a pair of eyes can see he is just not very good, everyone bar his day ones. Pathetic.

The thing is Ndiaye and MGW were in the main shite, too many daft fucking tricks.

A number of players I thought were disappointing tonight

Goals make prizes and we had enough chances to make sure we won the game

Can’t win every game but from being quite free scoring we’ve now fired two blanks

Need to snap out of it fast

Make sure our leading scorer is on the pitch Saturday

Hopefully Bogle is back

Wholeheartedly disagree. I thought they were both great. Always showing for the ball, working hard, aggressive, looking to create.
Lots doesn't come off, but it's a joy watching those two. They're ambitious with the ball and take ownership.

McBurnie was not the problem tonight. The state of some people on here who can't wait to slag some of our players off is pathetic.

Look at the in-game comments in the match thread. We all get frustrated with players but the abuse meted out during a game is pathetic.

MGW’s short passing game wasn't up to his usual standard tonight and Ndiaye was pretty much invisible after twenty minutes.

Well said, wish some of our fans would fuck off to Hillsborough.

Pelters again for the lad, while MGW gets clapped and ‘unlucky’ for tossing the ball to an opponent/out of play.

And again, called lazy, watch the Ndiaye chance, didn’t he head their corner clear then end up in arguably a better position than Ndiaye as one of the three?

I’m all for him and others having to improve, but he certainly gets the rough end of some folks mood.

Not sure we can play both of them at the same time, maybe a bit too similar. Just thinking out loud (so to speak).

Mcburnie had 6 chances tonight off which 1 was on target
In fairness to him he had two chances on target, a shot in the six yard box that went straight at the keeper in the middle of the goal, and another which the keeper saved in the bottom corner.

What I will say in his defence is that we had 22 shots, 3 on target and 2 of those were his. Coincidentally when he had service to his feet. Once again when he plays the players revert to endless crosses to him when he's shite in the air. Play the ball to his feet and he actually makes the keeper work and looks like scoring. What's more annoying is that we play the ball to Billy's feet more often than not.

So is it Hecky's tactics? The players being lazy and just looking for an easy option to cross it to the tall guy? McBurnie convincing that team that he's good in the air and prefers that service when he's not? It's weird that we always resort to lumping it up to him or crossing it to him, instead of playing it to his feet.

I just don't see it happening for him here and we're stuck with him.

Great performance from young oli linking the play up and leading the line

The goal will come IMO

Simple is sometimes better than over complicating things.

Sometimes. But if you're chasing a goal then you need to hold and give, but do it at the right times. You can do it slow, or fast but you need to get to the line. If you're going to hurt a team like Hull then you need to attack and there's only one way to do that and it's to get around the back.

If you play everything in front it's easy to defend. Give me MGW and Ndiaye taking it on the turn every day.
