The truly tragic part of Simonsen's day is that he'd actually been having an excellent performance up till then - two good stops, some confident claims etc. And then, he throws the game away with a dreadful attempted punch.

Other than that, we looked good first half, and average 2nd. We lost all width when Willo had to go off, and up till the goal it looked likely that we'd settle for a draw. Quinn was fairly quiet (though less quiet to his team mates after the equaliser), Clarke & Phillips look v good but faded probably due to fatigue.

Biggest disappointment for me today was McDonald - didn't do any way near enough in my opinion.

That's 4 points in a week we've thrown away in the dying minutes. Must do better.

Agreed. A dull game which we only really looked like winning when they had a man sent off. Simonsen played well until his howler. Load of bollocks. Nice walk home.

Simonsen has to go. Thats four of our last five goals conceded being down to mistakes by him. Thats simply not acceptable in a goalkeeper at this level.

He clearly lacks all confidence with balls pumped to the edge of his six yard box. For God's sake the guy is 6'2, he should be confidentally catching balla like the one that led to today's goal. As it was his punch was such that my granny could have done better and she has been dead twenty years.

Other than that, I thought it was a poor performance. Evans when he came on was woeful and I thought Phillips and Clarke offered little. Before they had the man sent off Orient were getting on top and, on balance, a draw was probably a fair result, though in typical United fashion, we acheive a draw in the most heartbreaking of circumstances.

Agreed. Hes poo.

I was also introduced to some lovely Sheffield manners.

I was sat about 2/3 of the way up the stand. The last three rows were taken up by people singing and standing, which was fine by me as they were not blocking anyone's view. There was plenty of room for other people who might want to join them.

However, three guys were standing two rows in front of me. Everyone around them were sitting. I couldn't see and said to them "excuse me mate, can you sit down, I can't see". One guy turned round and told me to "go and sit at the fucking front" . They then proceeded to stand for the rest of the game.

If they wanted to stand it escapes me why they could not join everyone else who was standing and not blocking other people's view.

What charmers.

Also fairly unhappy with Porter, who fluffed a superb opportunity for us to go 2-0 up. Could have scored himself, or squared it for a tap-in, did neither and fell over his own feet.

Basics - the goal keeper commands the six yard box. They used to do that in the days when centre forwards were not averse to putting the goalie in the net with the ball. In these days with the protection they get there is no reason why the keeper does just go for the ball. I can't comment till I see it but there is a modern tendency to punch when they could catch.

Sounds like you were right by me.

I had this at Wycombe. I really don't understand why they do it. Fuck off out of the way and stop ruining it for short people, kids etc.

There were some kids trying to kick it off on the walk back to Leyton tube stop as well. Daft little bastards. I seen one getting pinned up against the wall by a copper. I don't know the full details, but I have to say, it looked like our fans were starting it.

Agree with everything said so far about the game. Simmo had looked fairly steady until the clanger, while we were only every average at best. Should still have claimed all three points though.

Its quite interesting hearing peoples views on the match today especially those who go on a regular basis. My last match was Ipswich away in Feburary which was possibly the worst performance I had ever seen from a United side. I realised that day we were going to be relegated. The away support that day was around 600 and it was quite a poisonious atmosphere probably due to the position we found ourselves in.
So onto today I really enjoyed the match, I thought we showed we could pass the ball around amd compared to that day last winter we at least looked like a team who cared. The away support was magnificent and got behind all the players.
What we are now lacking is a striker who can finish, I am afraid Porter looks very average and a keeper who can either punch really well or catch. We are not far away but I suspect we will be in the play offs

I wasnt one of those three knobs, no.

Simmo is a wanker

I thought we were awful yesterday. We looked very unimaginative going forward against a poor Leyton Orient side, who, if they had a decent striker could have had a few as they got plenty of shots in at goal, but put a load over the bar etc. from close range.

I'm not impressed whatsoever by Porter. Yeah he scored, but I think the majority of the travelling fans would have put that away. He looks disinterested, which was reflected when he had the chance to put us two up. The midfield was very poor - the movement and passing was appalling. However, I thought Monty had a decent game again. Then there's the mistake by Simmo...Without wanting to repeat all that's been written about him on here, he does have to be dropped, whether that be temporarily or on a permanent basis (that's up to Wilson). He is totally devoid of confidence and things will only continue to get worse as the fans get on his back. He's cost us too many points!

How many United fans were down there yesterday? Seemed to be more there than the 1,100 that was mentioned at the end of the week. I was surprised when I got in the stand to see that we had it all.
