A truly bizarre signing. And has probably cost us a few bob in wages and docs fees.

File him alongside Signings such as Dean Hammond and Geoff Horsfield.
Not to mention the payoff he’s probably received for walking away half way through his contract. Madness. The lunatics really do appear to be running the asylum down there. It’s no wonder the prince has no money if this is how he runs his business operations.

The whole Slav appointment along with all his backroom staff and their subsequent dismissal 6 months later with the associated costs that go with it are an embarrassing, idiotic joke. What a complete waste of our very limited resources. At least we’ve got our strategic plan in place now. What could possibly go wrong?!

He's been here for 20 weeks, announced him on 13th September, so I imagine we've paid him around a quarter of a million quid in wages before any payoff.

He can't have been here long before he went off for ankle surgery, that must have been on the horizon when he came in, so more fool us for signing someone who was going to be imminently unavailable, got to admire the grift I suppose, wish I had friends like Slav haha

Let's not forget the almost universal acclaim and support that greeted the news Slav had been hired, funnily enough probably only beaten by countless 'experts' on here that were quick throwing Parker and Silva under the bus, as no good and no chance getting Bournemouth or Fulham promoted

And rightly so due to his success taking teams out of the league. I am sure he could have been a good appointment if he had been given the appropriate resources and time. However, there was no point giving him the job if we were too skint to recruit the players he needed.

We’ll never know how well he could have done as he had the rug pulled from under him after 6 months for having the audacity to ask for the players he had probably been promised in his interview! No doubt we then spent another couple of million getting rid of him. Hence we now have even less money, can’t afford to buy anyone and are having to piss more money away on loan fees and wages for players we don’t own and who will disappear at the end of the season.

Our likely return on a series of big investments is looking terrifyingly bad.

For all his sins and zero market value, Moose actually helped keep us up in his first season.

McBurnie’s value has plummeted and he’s rarely fit.

Berge has basically been crocked for a year and must be worth half what we paid at best.

Freeman has zero value.

Brewster is only just starting to show, but two hamstring injuries in short time is a big worry. Probably halved in value if fit.

Bogle is a rare breed - he’s accruing value. But unless we sell for £100m he ain’t rescuing our finances.

On that cheery message, it’s time for lunch. :)
Was just thinking this, for all the signings we made in the prem, we've literally gone back to ' almost' the team that was playing last time we were in the champ. What a gigantic waste of money and time.

The total cost of Slav, his coaching staff, Olsen and Guedoria must be millions, I dread to think
Good job we now have the three pillars and a 5 year strategy 😂😂

And obviously you know this from sitting in on the interview, the alternative, taking into account his comments to the press regarding the squad being far more skilful than his previous sides, leans more towards promises being made by Slav and not the board

It's maddening that we could have taken the approach of Norwich, still got a second season on the strength of the promotion team's performers and been cash rich.

Our best hope is Brewster continues to find his feet and Liverpool activate the buy back clause at which stage we'll be pissed because he will have become a crucial player for us. That would be 35m I think. Maybe if Bogle continues his ascent 20m. With the 30m for Rammers you are at least up to 85m. If he has a run of form Berge might tip you towards 100m. But rather than sitting pretty on the remainders they will all have left for nothing which is the gauling part, especially when you consider McBurnie, Robinson/Burke, Freeman, Robinson, Mousset, Osborn all account for a not insignificant 40-45m probably walking away for didlysquat.

Lessons to be learned. If nobody else is bidding then maybe they aren't worth that money!

But this aside I think the positive about the new approach is that when it comes to a question of should we sign a Guedioura or should we have a punt on a lost cause like Roswell or Morrison, the answer should be to look at promoting a youngster where possible. Not sure where Wilder got the misconception he was the man to rescue these waifs and strays because none of these ventures remotely came off. He could have fixed the leaky roof with that money. But it's good if the approach now is to turn to a Maguire, an Arblaster, a Neal or a Brunt rather than an expensive wage gamble.
