Just looked at the video on BladesPlayer. And to be honest I can't decide if Simmo came and missed it (Got bullied) or whether the 3 Pig players just clattered him. Surprised he didn't get the benefit of the doubt with it being so late and the pigs being so desperate, but not sure really

Bit of both but the first goal - embarrassing. I would never pick him again for that alone.

I'd say a bit of both too. And it will go on. His lck of ability to command the air is so well known that which right minded manager wouldn't set out to exploit it.

Simmo can't put this right. The onus is firmly on Wilson here.

With the protection goalies get it was a foul. In real terms he flapped but I still expected a foul to be given. Reda Johnson never went for the ball so for me it was a foul as like when Morgan gave the pen away against Liverpool he intended to foul Simmo.

What was that Carl Ikeme like?

I've seen it several times. I'd say it wasn't a foul but in the modern game those things are normally given, was very surprised that it wasn't called as a foul.

I've voted for 'fluffed it'. Amid our disappointment, imagine if the exact same circumstances had resulted in a goal for us.

Simmo is so weak he's anticipating getting clattered when he goes for a ball. If he imposed himself -as a good goalie should - it would be the forwards who have one eye out for getting battered.

And it wasn't just the equaliser. His fumble in the first half where he fed a tame ball to their attacker was a joke.

Simmo is an accident waiting to happen, and it's feeding through to the defence.

I voted fluffed it. I thought it was not a foul at the time and watching it several times has not convinced me to change my opinion. That said I have seen them given.

Good points from both of the above. With keepers being generally over protected I was surprised that a foul was not given. The ref thought about it. I was watching him very closely. He stopped, thought about giving the foul, dallied, looked at his linesman and then eventually signalled for the goal.

I have written similar several times in several threads. If Simmo goes in strongly, with confidence and conviction, then he will win the ball. Madine and Johnson are big lads, but SS is 6 foot 2/3 and can use his hands. How on earth could he not get a fist to it? I think he timed his run/jump badly and lacked conviction/belief.

Goalkeeping error in my book. He has to be dropped. I realise the dilemma that he is a big earner, but he is costing us points.

For me, this is pretty conclusive. No foul IMO

Have to agree. The Wednesday player gets his head on the ball and doesn't clatter Simonsen at all. Rather, the latter flaps ineffectually on his back.

On another point, MacDonald should really have been hooking the resulting rather soft header clear...

I had a great view of this from Row D and didn't think it was a foul at the time. Watching it again now just confirm that Simmo was out jumped and momentum caused it to look like there was a foul on him.

never a foul.. simmonsen completely misjudged it and the pig striker just jumped into the gap.. playground keeping

We had everybody back (Wilson's direction presumably) which meant Semedo had an unchallenged opportuniyt to push it back into the mixer.

...... and the video conclusively shows that Simmo was fouled by Reda Johnson coming in from the side - he clearly blocked him and never went for the ball.
That was the game plan so don't be fooled just because Simmo is not flavour of the month.

The first goal was more of a keeper mistake IMO. He was too slow coming off his line and flapped in mid air as the ball was over him.

Simmo is OK - nothing more. We do need a better keeper but don't hold yer breath on that one.
Long is not ready. He would have been bullied at those incidents as well.

That was my impression too. We should have been 5-10 yards further out but got scared when O'Grady scored the first. Disappointing, really.

As for Simmo - he can't jump. A 6'2" goalkeeper should be able to reach a ball at least 9' in the air yet he gets easily beaten by Madine. If he didn't think he was going to get there he shouldn't have gone for it.

First time I have looked at it again and have to agree on both points Simmo just didnt get there and MacDonald probably should have done better. If Simmo had stopped on his line he would have saved it. Have to say what was our defence doing there were 3 v 1 (not inc SS) going for that ball.
The first goal was a shambles as well we didnt react to the 2nd ball at all

Its a foul and a disagraceful decision by the ref. You lot are blinde by Simmos inabilities and gunning for him. Hes not my fave player either, but he was fouled and a free kick should ahev been awarded no question.

The worst mistake was the one that didn't actually result in a goal. The spilt catch at the feet of their striker in the first half about a yard from the goal line. Fortunately for us, said striker hit the post when he really should have scored. I can only think he must have been taken completely by surprise to have recieved such a chance.

Just looked at the vid again. Its 100% clear to me that it wasn't a foul, The Wednesday players are focusing on the ball and the the only physical contact between them and Simonsen is when S flaps his hands down the back of the scorer.

There was a picture in the Sun on Monday showing Simmo with a finger or two on the ball and Madine and Johnson both jumping backwards into him, not attacking the ball. Simmo deffo flapped but I've seen free kicks given for a lot less.

I see your 100% and raise you 102% that is a without doubt a foul. Three wedneday players clatter him and the ball creeps in. Clear foul.

Fouled by whom? Johnson? Since when was jumping and cleanly winning the ball a foul? What are you saying Madine did wrong?

This has to be a wind-up?

I think theres only one of us on a wind up. I suggest you turn your eyeballs on.

First goal was clearly Simmos fault, second goal was a foul but I suspect the ref thought after the first one that he had just made a mistake again and thats why he didn't give it

I agree, they were attacking the ball and he came out lamely and didn't really get off the ground. They ended up knocking him flying.

Although on saying that I have seen them given as fouls....

I am more pissed off about him for the 1st goal tbh....

Should of kept Benno instead of buying Simmo IMO but that's hindsight..
I feel DW needs to get someone in asap

benno didnt want to stay after the way he was treated during kennys ban

Benno was mistreated by blackwell at both Leeds and Utd ,he would have signed for Utd but Warnock was honest and told him he would be understudy to Kenny ,Blackwell told him he would be first choice at Leeds and signed Sullivan 2 weeks after Benno had signed and made him number 1. Benno was disgusted at Blackwells treatment of younger players at both Leeds and the Lane ,as were a couple of other notable departed players.
