Why is Billy hated by away fans?

He's a shithouse.
A niggly, tough, hardworking, rule bending, passionate shithouse.
The type every club loves playing for them and hates to play against.

Oh, and he scores goals.

This is it in a nutshell.

He also enjoys that side of the game, getting stuck into fans. I presume it helps him fire himself up in the same way it does for Vardy.

Sharp's a great character. He'll make a great coach / pundit or whatever it is he decides on.

Is it because he's scored goals against them?
Being disliked by opposing fans is the biggest high a player can get.

Long may opposition fans goad him.

As we know to our own cost, the more you abuse some players like Allan Smith and Jamie Vardy they more they thrive.

Billy is just such a player.

That said, some of those chants are disgusting and people should be banned for singing them. Wouldn’t get away with similar songs if they were homophobic or racist.

Deano praised him after the game for givin it to away fans

Apologies for highlighting you as lots of others have said this in other threads, but I have to disagree. People says this like homophobic and racist abuse is not tolerated or encouraged by some at football, but it absolutely is. It shouldn’t be, and the horrible stuff Bill gets also shouldn’t be, but it happens and plenty of people don’t have a problem with it. “Chelsea rent boys”, “town full of P*kis” and “where’s your caravan” for example are incredibly common in grounds across the country. Plenty of people think those are as funny and acceptable as the sex offender songs.

Someone has said above about Akinfenwa confronting the fans singing the sex offender song at MK Dons, which led to at least one of them being removed from the stadium and MK Dons stopping the game, being forced tweet and have tanoy announcements to ask fans to stop singing it. That to me seems a good strong response that I’d want for any other kind of abuse. Obviously if someone was removed and the club condemned it then singing about being a sex offender is enough to get a fan in big trouble with the authorities. So if you hear someone singing it and you can identify them, get it reported to Kick It Out or the nearest steward and hopefully they’ll get the punishment they deserve.

I didn't hear the Barry Bannan song from the Blades fans tonight, thank fuck, although I didn't see any fighting amongst ourselves either and apparently that did happen, so I might not be a reliable witness.
The fighting was probably started by someone boasting that they’d just managed to secure a signed copy of Fever Hitch for well below the recommended retail value. Those who paid full price for an unsigned copy went ballistic.

Actually, I forgot about that; I grabbed someone by the lapels after they said, "To be honest, I don't think anecdotes are your forte."
