What a basket case of half a season we have gone from looking like a relegation candidate to looking like play offs the next we have had 2 managers and a chairman telling us he doesn't give a f@@@

The maddest thing is I don't think we have actually put in two good performances in a row and we haven't had our best team out or fully fit for two weeks in a row and somehow we are within 2 wins of been in the play offs

God knows how many points we have lost when looking like strolling to 3 points we would be ang in the play offs if we could hold on to a lead

After the next two away games we will have 13 of our last 19 games at home which is bonkers with the majority of them teams above us

If we can get MGW back and find some consistency id even go as far as saying top 2 could be a possibility with Bournemouth imploding and players coming back to full fitness MGW/Berge/Brewster/Davies

We will have 12 of the last 19 at home , and pretty much all the current top 7 or 8 except Huddersfield

Top two ...................... you're deluded.

8th / 9th. We might sneak 6th but it would take an improvement from within our squad. Maybe one of Berge, McBurnie or Mousset to wake up and contribute. Regardless, there are too many teams better than us for us to win the play-offs. I'm not totally writing us off just yet, but I'd be very shocked if we're up there come the end.

I’m not sure there is after watching Blackburn / boro both poor

We have been poor this season and are somehow where we are and won 5 of the last 7 games

We win our games in hand then we are in the play offs with 13 of the last 19 at home

Like you said in ur original post, we're too inconsistent.

We play a game at walking pace. Hecky tells the team it's not good enough we up the tempo in next game and win comfortably and then everyone's patting themselves on the back going back to walking pace football in the next game.

No we are and have somehow managed to win 5 out of the last 7

But I think we are getting better and if Hecky can manage to pull it together o could see us going On a very good run which we are already on tbf

If we continue the form since Heckington took over comfortably top 6 but the fixture pile up will give us massive issues and inevitably effect results.

I reckon we might just nick 6th place, then I'd suggest we opt out of the playoffs and try again next season

I don’t think there are many teams better than us on our day ,infact this is the weakest championship I can remember for years .

How teams like Blackburn , qpr and Huddersfield are in the top 6 tells me that

If Hecky can continue to get a tune out of us and get us organised and we get more from Brewster and Berge , as you rightly say , we have an outside chance

I can’t think of a team other that Fulham that I wouldn’t back us to win if we’re on it - honestly

We beat Fulham

We beat Fulham
I know but I genuinely think they are head and shoulders above the rest which isn’t saying much

We beat them , Huddersfield beat us but I would judge that more of a freak rather than them being better than us

If you get my drift

At home to Fluffam.
Or at Wembley, ironically vs Fluffam. Unlikely, but one can dream.

As it stands we’ll finish 8th or 9th.

We’re a good team but without Gibbs-White we lack the quality to mount a promotion challenge.
However I’ve not written us off yet. Significant positives are

1: We have (on paper) a high quality squad…..our subs bench is really strong…should be important when squads become tired and/or pick up injuries.

2: We have several players with ability and high potential that aren’t performing at their best.
If Brewster, Berge, McBurnie, N’Dyieie, even Norwood and Fleck find some form then we’ll be too good for most teams in this league.

3: This season the standard in the Championship seems lower than normal. Maybe we’ve become familiar with the PL standard but I’ve not seen any team in the Championship (including Fulham) that I’d be worried about meeting in the play-offs.

Blackburn make sure they don't get bullied in contrast to us,last night they refused to be bullied by Boro, and instead did the bullying, plus they had Gallagher who showed what we need up front to have a chance of getting where they are.

All true but that doesn't mean that cant change

We are a couple of points off the play offs when we have had half a season of chaos and have been poor for most of it so where could we be if we actually start playing well

We.ve been better recently but still barely out of first gear IMO and we've won 5 out of 7 and should have been 6 @ Preston

Disagree. Waiting another year will not help a great deal financially.
If we make the play offs we should go for it, endure a poor season in the Premiership , collect loads of money and regroup.
We may have to do that again before we can stay in the Premiership for more than two years.

There are 3 certainties in life...
1. Death
2. Taxes
3. Sheff Utd don't win play-offs

Agree…it can change and we are capable of beating every team in this division...form is a strange concept.
Brewster and McBurnie have already proven they can excel at this level.
If they rediscover that form (and Brewster is slowly heading in the right direction) we can be easily be up there with the best teams in the league.

Another point is over half our squad have recent experience of a Championship promotion race.
They seen it before and worn the t-shirt, so this is another reason to be positive.

If you want to go above those who are already above you, you need to play against those teams to take points off their potential.
And if you can't beat them who else will ?.
Play-Off's are deffinately within our grasp, we are currently 4th in the form tables from the last 6 games, and if we hadn't capitulated against Preston we would have been top.

COYRAWW

Top 2 is absolutely gone. It would have to be a really low points total for 2nd for it to be a possibility.
Playoffs is still possible, but we have ground to make up too! Do that and I'll start to think it's possible.

Wouldn’t be surprised if we get top 6. 5th and 6th is certainly getable if we carry on our current form.
However if I was a betting man I’d go 8th
