I'm not trying to say that the performance levels last night were acceptable, not in the slightest but I'm going to be that one person each week who tries to offer a little perspective.
Were we terrible last night? Yes. Did we get outfought and outthought? Yes.
However, with their backs firmly against the wall and fighting with a real chance of going under, Derby beat Bournemouth 3-2 on Nov 21st, beat West Brom 1-0 on Dec 27th and beat Stoke 1-2 on Dec 30th. They've drawn many and now they've beaten us.
They were never going to roll over as they haven't all season and if you take away the -21, they are above us in the league on merit. You can't just look at them as the bottom placed team because they would be firmly midtable without the points deduction.
Don't think it helped that Hecky wasn't present in the dugout after testing positive too. May have had an affect on players, especially regarding the half time talk where we needed to step it up a level and pressure Derby.
We hadn't even played a league game during the Christmas period through no fault of our own and the players have had to prepare for each one so they haven't been relaxing.
Any way, there's always one who tries to put it in perspective so this time it's me.
We can't go from "We've got a chance of playoffs" after the impressive Fulham win where people also stated that Hourihane and Robinson had good games to "We'll be lucky to stay up. Ship everybody out" after the lacklustre Derby defeat.
Just my opinion if it helps anybody calm down a little.
