Intersesting to read Danny Wilsons comments in mid week about not being to concerned about the amount of chances we're missing.After witnessing us miss bags of chances both home and away,i think he should be concerned.He should set about trying to address the problem sooner rather than later.Doing nothing isnt an option.Some of the misses cant be defended and could cost us dearly long term.Thoughts?

He's playing it down to protect the confidence of his forwards.

If he makes a big deal out of it, it starts to put pressure on them.

Managers always want more chances converted, but you have to manage individuals.

In some cases its good psychology to remain positive and not dwell on missed chances.

I think your right with the word "should" but i agree with what some say in protecting the confidence of the forwards. We need to take all these easy chances and win games like Wycombe away. I think tomorrow should show us if we are going to be up there.

Of course it is but surely you can see that there exists the possibility for change....to actually score....if chances are being created.

You can't score from zero chances.


Anyway, what would you all have the manager say to his strike force? Maybe at a stretch Ched might need the occasional reminder that his main objective is to bring ball and net into close proximity but it would sound rather like reminding them that there's a little round thing on the pitch and that they're supposed to kick it.

You can't practice finishing in any meaningful sense on the training ground. Can you?

Judging by our last game, it won't be enough to produce some neat play and have an effort through a crowd of players. We don't have world class strikers that can score goals from half chances, so we should aim to create bigger chances.

He also said that last Friday before the Wycombe game he had all the players practicing their shooting so he is trying to address the problem.

It's not just the strikers, some of our midfielders would rather pass than shoot at the moment.

I do think Wilson is right not to single areas of the team out in the media even if they have done badly. As said earlier it is only going to make a bad situation worse. I would get the sports psychologists in to increase confidence (watch recordings of goals scored previously) etc and work on visualisation and keeping calm in a pressure situation.

I know I'm just a picky old bloke, but I think the word you're looking for is 'Indefensible'.

There is no such word in the English language as 'Indefendable', but maybe you've started something...
