Rumour has it Messi has an Ndiaye shirt

can’t remember the last goal like that for us!

The more he plays the more insane it is that his contract was keeping him out of a side devoid of any creativity or spark.

whether that’s because he wouldn’t sign due to the obvious lack of opportunities under wilder or he just wanted too much for an unproven player we’ll never know.

but the fact he’s signed in the league below probably suggests the former. Remains to be seen if we can keep him long term but he’s been a revelation so far. For me he is On a level with brooks for how good he’s looked right off the bat.
Like most of us, watching Brooks could be a joy. Of course he wasn't the finished product, but boy, what potential he had.....and as for the way he made Wednesday's defensive Galactico (in case you'd missed it, the player in question was Hunt) look like a Sunday morning amateur, well that's a memory that will remain for years to come. I don't think there is a similarity between Brooks and Ndiaye other than the fact that they are young players learning their craft and occasionally showing exactly why they are regarded as the reason why we support the Blades.

The central issue for both players, and yes, I'm aware that Brooks has health problems, for which I know we all wish him good luck for the future, is that they both add to their considerable skillset that rarest of talents, that of consistency. If Ndiaye shines in one in ten games, and as much as we'd love to see what he can do, it won't be enough. That's the harsh truth that even I struggle to admit, but it doesn't make it any less of a fact.....however, the boy, for that is what he currently is, has shown that he is brimming with self-belief, which doesn't mean that he'll have days when he questions himself, but in Heckingbottom and his staff there's a wealth of life experience which will help the boy to improve and fulfill the potential that we've seen. They'll know when he needs to be rested, conversely they'll recognise when to let him off the leash. It must have been the same for other managers down the years. Imagine Alex Ferguson with a talented young player, David Beckham, that would have been a wonderful time to be a fly on the wall, but Ferguson contributed to making Beckham, Scholes, and the other young talents that flowed from the Old Trafford production line into a winning combination.

There are, of course, no guarantees that a promising young talent will evolve into something good let alone great, but putting that to one side, I'm happy to see a superb young player at the beginning of his career. Let's hope he becomes as good as he seems capable of becoming, Ndiaye has shown remarkable and mature skills beyond his years, that alone marks him out as an exceptional young talent with huge potential.

A bit off topic YB but did you ask the prince about another interview after the Slav sacking ?
Yes, we also had a meeting with the Chairman, neither want to do an interview at this time. As the Chairman said on the press conference, they want Stephen Bettis and Paul Heckingbottom to be the ones talking (for the time-being).

Ok thanks for asking and the reply

Not seen it mentioned on this thread, but I thought Ndiaye’s shot got a slight deflection straight after he’d shot, which helped it curl into the corner. Not taking anything away from the goal though.

Didn't think about it at the time but it only dawned on me today that he hits his left foot. Not a swinger either, a lovely finish.

"Show him onto his left from there we'll be fi...
bollocks"

People criticising the defending are a perfect example of 'expert in hindsight'.

Ndiayes burst happened that fast it had the Fulham defenders scrambling and they couldn't react quick enough. If a Fulham defender had committed, Ndiaye would've skipped past him and probably get criticised for not standing him up instead.

Sometimes good goals happen.

If the Prince's team are not going to buy, as they have confessed. They cannot also sell the family silver. Sell the tin and copper, reinvest, do not sell the silver, or we're back to Mcabe days....
Keep seeing this kind of statement. Could you link me the interview/article where this has been said?

Brooks only played to begin with because we had nobody fit who could fill in up front, otherwise he was off to Chesterfield for the season.
I'm not sure that's quite true or even fair. Brooks had been getting rave reviews playing in our youth teams, then went to the Toulon Tournament with England U20's and won player of the tournament. It was then decided we'd cancel the load to Chesterfield as he was obviously good enough for our squad, which he clearly was.

Was that a 1 off fab goal Ndiaye's scored on Monday @ The Cottage with Fulham having a off night or are we going to see him score a few more fantastic goals like that one the rest of this season.

Hecki said there's more to come from him and I agree
He's no experience to draw on yet so it's still a big learning curve for him.
He's an exciting player like MGW .

A one-off goal from that range is normally smashed at the net in the hope it goes in. Ndiaye placed that with precision, his tendency and willingness to get stuck in, track back, win the ball and then be able to attack without fear are traits not often seen at such a young age or indeed in the game outside some of the best players in the world.

Now obviously he doesn’t yet look like a world beater or even a national team player at any level, but the raw ingredients are there to see. He does need to develop physically (stronger in the tackle) and mentally (spotting a pass) but he’s a young lad. Once he puts a bit more mass on and gets into the groove of passing accurately he will be some player.

A performance like that makes you think he is a safer pair of feet than MGW, with less flair. If MGW goes back Ndiaye is nailed on to start consistently.

Unless as is the Sheff Utd way, MGW goes back and we sell Ndiaye in the January transfer window. 😞 😞 😞 😞

Under McCabe that would have been the case but I would imagine that the asking price for Ndiaye will be prohibitive. We did that with Ramsdale: McCabe would have probably taken the £18m initial offer; the current regime held out for, and got, £30m.

The goal on Monday was brilliant. My view was suboptimal but it was one of those "did that just happen?" moments. Up there with Mousset's strike against Newton Heath in terms of finish but with the absolute panic amongst the Fulham defenders as Ndiaye just ran at them. Beautiful.

Think the best bit about the goal was that he didn't just smash it towards the net. It was a really cultured finish, curving beyond the keeper and then back inside the post. Real technique needed for a goal like that, from that distance, against a good keeper.

This and the wonderful run that Sharp made. As Withnail was approaching the centre backs his touch over ran it a bit and you would expect one of the centre backs to go and try and win it at that point, but they'd seen Billy running over on the left and that put the moment of doubt in their minds, do we snap in and risk leaving Billy clear on goal or back off and try and cover.

I genuinely don't think this is an insult but kind of reminds me of Colin Kazim-Richards as he had a similar way of a composed finish like the goal against Bolton in 06 not a smash but pass into the net. Brewster seems to try and pass/dink it and I have been hoping he just put his laces through it when he had chances I suppose it depends on your confidence and skill level.

At one point he knocked it a bit to far infront of himself and they failed to attempt a tackle
It looked a bit that way, but that's where Billy's run was so important. The defender was already committed to going with Billy so Ndiaye was able to exploit the space that was about to open up. Now whether he meant to hit it so far in front is another thing, but it's good that he did as it helped limit the number of touches he needed.

It was a lucky moment and we were time wasting which the ref allowed to continue.

According to Marco Silva.

Why couldn't he just say it was a stunning goal and we deserved the win.

Brooks had more potential than Ndiaye. He got glandular fever just as he was tearing it up. He was never quite the same when he came back and has had injury problems since and obviously now the serious illness. Such a shame, but hopefully he can still come back and have a good career

Cheers Roy for keeping us all entertained. Happy Christmas to all the Blades all over the world and let’s hope everyone stays safe and healthy.

👍 👍 👍
