Have always been a supporter of VAR

Am disappointed that we arent having VAR in the Championship matches. My Norwich and Swansea mates have told me that a lot of the referee decisions in last season's Championship have been terrible. We saw terrible decisions this evening.
Id take a few more like yesterday if it means no VAR. The damage it does to the game isn't made up for by sometimes (only sometimes) getting a right call. Poor refs can work both ways and as they say, some what of a balance will occur over a season.

I'd rather have old school bad refereeing than VAR. At least it's a game of football again where we're actually able to celebrate goals and we can question the parentage of a ref again.
True, except that we have to actually score a goal for us to celebrate one!

yes we should had a pen. maybe 2

but i still refuse to call for VAR at any point this season, because if the PL has proven anything in last 2 years their interpretations are useless. far more hassle than its worth. also it not a magic bullet that would have solved anything. because i remember numerous times in PL where they've completely missed incidents like this. because they were more interested if someones toenails were offside

1 definitely, the other one (tackle on Berge) good decision by the ref. That's football and bad refereeing is part of it.

VAR at the euros was much better than in the prem it’s not the technology that’s a farce it’s how the prem implements it. They couldn’t have done a much worse job if they done it on purpose

The handball was so blatant you honestly have to question not only the parentage of the ref, or whether he spends a lot of time slipping one off the wrist, but also his ocular capabilities. It wasn't even in question as to whether it was ball to hand or whether his line of sight was restricted. VAR ruined a heck of a lot of our season the other year (Spurs and City away with Mousse my 2 examples there), but by god it didn't miss such blatant decisions like that one. I had it on sky go straight away for the replays and it was actually cringeworthy how bad it was.

If it were used like in the Euros this summer then I would support it, but one of the big benefits of relegation is no more VAR in the way it was used in the Prem. I can live with the terrible decisions if it means no four minute waits for a 10mm offside decision.

That ref was a right cunt. One of them types who has never played the sport. When they were just fouling us to slow the game down, he’d book them but do it in such a slow fashion and make them come right up to him, turning a 5 second job in to a 30 second one. Just didn’t get it at all. Cunt.

Don't think any of our appeals were pens tbh..I'd have been well fkd off if any of them had been given against us !
Maybe we should concentrate on scoring 'proper' goals ,and stop relying on the ref to help us out.
UTB

The handball was a penalty. To suggest otherwise is ridiculous. I'd have not been fucked off it that was given against us as it was a penalty.

It wouldn't even be the ref 'helping us out', just doing his job.

Absolutely blatant

I really believe moving to a referral system would solve most of VAR's problems.

Each team gets 2 referrals per game and I'd suggest a list of incidents that can and can't be referred. Make it fully transparent, on the screens and even though the speakers if necessary.

This would mean the game isn't dominated or significantly delayed, and most decisions stay with the "on pitch" referee.

It would also help solve the problem of the lack of elite level referees, as the VARs could theoretically cover more than one game at the same time. This is the only reason the Championship doesn't currently have VAR.

I hope we don't go down the Jon Jensen route with Brewster, remember them t-shirts Arsenal fans had I saw Jensen score.

Didn’t need VAR to see that stonewall penalty for Blackburn yesterday…how the hell did the ref not see it?!
That tosser was diving the whole match!!
He just had a slight touch on his back and did a massive swan dive
Hate cheats, and he’s one of them

Disagree on the penalty appeal. We were to the right of the goal and he was virtually rugby tackled to the ground. True he had the ability to fall to the ground fairly easily during the rest of the match but for me it was a stonewall penalty that one

Stonewall pen for them. Egan looked like he was shitting himself after that and left everything to Basham to sort out for him

Have to agree to disagree here, was bang in front of me he seemed to slow his run so the defenders had no choice but to run into him
Have to say I’ve seen them given though🤪

I don’t think he was slowing his run, more a case of looking up to pick his spot after waltzing through our shambles of a defence
