You must have just beaten me!! Somewhat amazingly my initials are MJM too.First!
Remember going to Derby the year we got promoted.Does make you wonder if it's going to be impossible to get rid of the "big physical team" tag. We haven't been that team since Blackwell and we are now the smallest, weakest team in England. If people still refer to us as big and physical after this season I think the label is for life. We can't do anymore.
“I’ve always thought of Sheff U as being a big physical team...."
Yeah and I always imagine Kathy Lloyd to still look exactly like she did on Page 3 of The Sun in 1990.![]()
Around lunchtime I saw Paul Parker previewing the game on some channel or other. He referred to our midfield of Fleck, Norwood, and Duffy as 'big, strong, and physical as you'd expect from a Sheffield United team'
Then went on to be describe our style of play as absolutely nothing like it was. Hoof basically.
It’s a high bar, but Parker’s performance during our win at Bradford on Boxing Day 1996 was a contender for the worst performance I have ever seen from a Blades player. Some of these cretins are stealing a living.
You might think that having played for us, Parker might take more than a passing interest in one of his old teams.
Nope, only room for Newton Heath United in his tiny brain, so he falls back on the trusty old stereotypes for good measure.
Wanker!
Met him in the McDonalds at the top of the M606 after the match. The team coach was outside so he'd probably been nominated to buy for the team. He looked suitably miserable. Although whether this was from his performance or that they'd given him a fillet o fish rather than his happy meal was hard to tell. It’s a high bar, but Parker’s performance during our win at Bradford on Boxing Day 1996 was a contender for the worst performance I have ever seen from a Blades player.
