I like it how the article says since he has gone we have bobbed along the top two divisions. We were bobbing in the third tier for six years!

Is this the same Warnock who referred to us as 'Sheffield' in his after-match interview?

Also talked about how he was responsible for laying the foundations for the clubs current success ie the Academy, promotion to the PL etc.

Saw this interview in the local paper in the North East reminiscing about United. He has probably said it before, but I found it quite moving when he talks about sitting in his car at Bramall Lane when he gets the manager's job, thinking back to going to games as a kid.
Thanks, he’ll always divide opinions but for me he was an immense manager and provided some great memories. We treated him terribly considering what he achieved and that’s a real shame. Some of those cup nights and league nights under him were incredible. Don’t care about how big a blade he was, he was a great manager. Thanks.

I'll always remember him for going for the Portsmouth job in the week before we played the pigs ............................ twat, wouldn't piss on him if he caught fire.

I agree and - dare I say it - some are starting to treat Wilder the same.

Pros:
  • 2002/3 season was undeniably an amazing, exciting time.
  • He genuinely did help get the academy/training ground; weren't we training on dog-shit infested parks when he took over? How much influence he actually had on plans, we’ll never know, but he must have had a big hand in pushing it all on.
  • Proper character
  • Some tasty derby wins, particularly the 3-1 at the Lane
  • Promotion to the Prem against the odds was a fantastic achievement

Cons:
  • Despite some exciting times, there were long periods of turgid shit along the way.
  • The Portsmouth incident
  • His absolute negative ineptitude that got us relegated from the Premier League, despite actually doing alright for a fair bit of it. Tevez, blah blah blah. No; we were miles clear, and he shit his pants. As has been underlined by his management of every other club he’s ever managed up there since. He’s simply not good enough for that level.

When we went down personally, I was glad to see the back of him- I was totally fed up with the negativity and welcomed a fresh start.... until I saw what we’d replaced him with. In hindsight, I was totally wrong and of course he was the best man to take us back up.

So I dont hate the guy; don’t dislike him. I actually tend to hope his teams do alright (dirties aside, obvs). Still makes me laugh with some of his interviews/comments.

I just take him for what he is now- one of the few remaining actual characters left; the game will be far poorer without him.

interesting that both warnock and wilder both got us relegated from the premier league by playing negative tactics however wilder was definetly backed more financially than warnock was

Wilder didn't play negative tactics when we got promoted - we were on the front foot most games. A negative manager wouldn't play 2 strikers and a 10 constantly. Last season of his - I agree.

the relegation season was what i meant no issues with the other 4 years fantastic manager for us as was warnock but they both employed the same negative tactics in their respective relegation seasons

Amazing he's still managing big teams after all this time. I think he took Notts County up to the top flight before it became the Premier League.

Thinking about it, if they don't get promoted back into the football league this season, Notts could be a decent place to end his career. Or Torquay, closest club to Cornwall.

or Exeter.

Fantastic manager. Loved his time in charge of us. Was one of the worst things we did getting rid of him when we did
