Best League Cup game since the Spurs semi final (OK not much competition). Foderingham made a great second half save, best performance from Norwood for a long time, Osborn had another good game, Mcburnie was a handful and played how I want him to, Brewster put himself about and had a good game (except in the six yard box!), for the first time I was impressed with Burke and Ndiaye had a great first half before fading in thr second half. I'm disappointed we are out, but let's give our players some credit tonight.

Bash was another positive for me. He wasn’t faultless, got done a couple of times by quicker and technically superior oppo, but I didn’t think there was much to chew on for the “He can’t play in a 4” brigade tonight.
Lost his man for the 2nd goal, but it was a really good performance.
Dont think anyone played badly TBH, a classic cup tie.

It was okay, but all we learned is that their reserves are slightly better than ours.
I thought Brewster and McBurnie were rubbish again. The keeper did well. Robinson made lots of mistakes again. Burke did what he does well, beating his man, getting into dangerous positions, then looking completely lost. What a terrible footballer he is.

The rest did okay, but nobody staked a claim for a first team place. The game was decent, but given it was a reserve outing from both sides, I was looking for individuals standing out - none did.

I decided to go at the last minute and regretted it. Given the 11 changes, it looks like my enthusiasm for it is mirrored by the club.

I am more than happy if our reserves are nearly as good as Southampton reserves!

Nice to see Enda back and scoring within 8 minutes!
I'm liking Guedioura - think he will be a big asset this season. Very strong, not actually slow and calm on the ball.
Even Robinson did ok and made a brilliant tackle in the first half when it was 3 on 2.
It’s amazing how we can all see different things. I thought Guedioura looked slow and mistake ridden, and am hoping it was lack of match sharpness rather than legs going.

And Robinson made his obligatory 2 or 3 errors. Miles away from good enough.

If he was a terrible footballer he wouldn’t be beating his man or getting into dangerous positions. He does lack end product but is far from being a terrible footballer.

Fair enough, but I just don’t care that much, given I’m not sure how good their reserves are. I was interested in seeing players pushing for a first team spot, and didn’t really see any.

ill take that as defeats go. it was great display with 11 changes v a strong Southampton team. it can only give fringe players confidence & as always say about league cup theres no downside either you win great or reduced fixture congestion. as league cup is just not worth a run because there no hertiage or money in it
Fa cup 1st round £23,000
League cup Semi £25,000

i feel for Brewster its like hes cursed hes getting in good positions i was impressed by him v Peterborough & Preston. but if it not the CB tackling at the last second as he about pull the trigger. its hitting a good pen but having GK pulling off a great save. even if weirdly with just fate i knew they miss Brewster & mcburnie

Nick Jansky - I reallly don’t care that he can run past his man. There’s zero (really zero) end product.

For me, that makes him a terrible footballer. I’m surprised if many would disagree with that.
I thought Burke had a good game today and was a threat. It is the first time I have been impressed with him and I certainly wouldn't play him on Saturday, but at least today I have thought maybe there could be a decent player in there somewhere.

Thought it was a great game of football where a draw was a fair result. Thought going forward we did well given these players havent played together in a team much. Still looked a bit shaky defensively and the goals could have both been avoided if we closed down the cross from the right in the 1st half and Norwood had closed down the short corner in the 2nd. We do like to give teams so much time on the ball to pick a cross.

I though it was one of his best games for us - but god forbid he moves up in the manager’s estimation as a result - I suspect he’s already seeing enough.

He’s clearly miles away from good enough, and pray Warnock is stupid enough to come in for him.

Judging by the Guedioura thread, I think you're in the minority on that one. With Robinson, well there's nothing we Blades like better than a good scapegoat.
Like you say, everyone sees different things.

I’m happy to leave the jury out on Guedioura, and to accept I might have seen it wrong tonight. It’s one game, anyway.

I’m stunned that anyone would argue that Robinson’s game isn’t mistake ridden, and suggest he’s being scapegoated. I find that suggestion a bit bizarre to be honest.

Burke is only ever a threat to the stewards stood on cherry street or Bramall Lane.

The bloke looks fantastic until he has to make a decision. Don’t even bother getting out of my seat when he has the ball anymore. Absolutely useless with a football.

I didn't go, but it sounded decent from the commentary, and the 2 goals were well crafted and put away.

I am hoping that goal fires up McBurnie's engines and really hope that this is the return of the old Enda.

Ndiaye, Osborn and Norwood all playing well again by the sounds of it too. Bash showing that he is still Mr Dependable.

I am happy tonight, even though we lost.

Had to be public enemies 1 & 2 that missed pens, didn't it 🙄
To be fair, they’ve become “public enemies” because they can’t score goals. The penalty misses only add fuel to that fire. (I know McBurnie did score tonight).

Both players have been given loads of time, and zero stick. They’ve been given the benefit of the doubt in an awful premiership campaign based on waiting to repeat what they did in the championship. Now they’re there, and there still miles away from the required quality.

It's a shame it came down to penalties, it was end to end stuff and we played well, I thought. They had a tricky player in (I think) Djenepo?, the number 19 lad with the blonde hair, he was very quick and with tricky feet.

We could have won this, and in fact probably should have, we created a lot of chances.

Anyway, I think we saw a decent performance from what may be our second 11.

At last the players seem to be shaking off that losing mentality they had last season.

Djenepo's the bloke who skinned our defence and scored their winning goal against us last season.

Biggest encouragements from last night are that McBurnie scored, our second string isn't too bad and that we came back from being behind when this time last year, we'd have given up after their second goal went in and would have lost 3 or 4-1.

Agreed, the fact that we are scoring goals on a regular basis is a great habit to get back in to.

I thought we played some good stuff, we didn't look out of place against them, and some players came back into form.

I have a slight concern about Ndiaye, and the "cramp" situation. As he was steaming towards goal, near the end, his legs sort of went "stiff", like he couldn't bend his knees and he was running on stilts. Hopefully, it really is just cramp, but that is three games on the trot (minus Hull, where he didn't play), that this has happened.

One final thing. At the start of the game, Slav was stood in his area, and the back of his collar was turned up slightly. One of his staff came out of the dug out and turned it down for him, now that's what I call respect!!!

Maybe ndiayes cramp is similar to Moussets inability to last more than an hour. Is it a genetic deficiency in Senegaleezers.
