RND NGE

RND is blatantly a LWB not a LB. In that position he looks like he'd be absolutely spot on. Unfortunately we aren't playing it atm.

If we are going to persist with 4 at the back then he needs replacing it's as simple as that as he's not cut out for that role and IMHO Enda will stroll back in when fit.
So RND isn't a LB but Stevens is?!

I find it strange that you'd put Enda straight back in when he's not really a recognised orthodox LB either.

I didn't go to the match but maybe RND was reluctant to go forward after being burned on their first goal? From what I have seen so far he seems to get forward well and put in some great early balls. He would probably benefit from having an experienced defender near him to talk him through the game.

That's absolutely fine! The only thing I took issue with is you saying that I said RND is shocking which I didn't. I thought he was awful tonight but as I said in my first post on this thread that was his first poor game for us.

Apologies mate, I was a an angry drunk last night having watched us concede late - these posts are embarrassing!

Its not Robinsons fault for the lack of quality in crosses and passes though.
I thought he whipped a few good balls in and always wanted to drive it forward. Osborn can’t play there as he’s too small (as seen vs Birmingham) and stevens looks a shadow of the player he was without JOC. Furthermore at least RND tries to get the ball in the box constantly. For years we’ve been frustrated by the constant approach of wanting to walk the ball into the net. Judge him when davies comes back.

I didn't say I'd put him straight back in. I said if RND doesn't improve Enda will go straight back in IMHO.

Also I'm not saying Stevens is an orthodox LB but he plays there for ROI and we even brought RND back from Luton and sent him to Stoke as Luton moved away from WB's and Stoke played them.

Fckin any LB in the world would shit themselves next to c3p0. Rnd couldnt go forwards in case one of the droid's diodes exploded and he needed to cover for him 🤣🤣

Stevens time here is over the left hand side looks threatening at the moment

RND put in the cross that Sharp almost scored from after ten minutes, same again after 20 minutes, so not too far from to assists.

He seemed to want to beat van den Berg for pace a couple of times. But van den Berg is fast. I like that Rhys is determined to bomb on when he can, but last night he may have been better off trying different things. Someone suggested that SJ are less focused on what the opponents offer, but hopefully someone among the staff can advice the players on what to expect and how to beat their respective opponents.

I think he's still finding his feet at this level and we don't have to decide now whether he's the long term answer. There's reasons to hope it will help him when Davies and Osborn return. Davies is a more composed player than Robinson and having Osborn in front of him should also help RND defensively.

Could you both stop apologising after arguing? Reminds me of two blokes in the pub and Landlord told them to pack it all in.
They started arguing with Landlord they were apologising for arguing, and he ended up throwing them both out. Although he wasn't sure for what reason.
Anyhow. I reckon Robinson has been roasted here. Done not much wrong until the header, then two on the line and the defender charging out to block the shot
al failed.
More angry with Hourrihan not crossing immediately before, running ball into the corner and losing possession.
The cross he should have put in may have brought a goal, corner, throw in, anything that would then seen us win. Could have also run into the area.

Stevens injury problem dates back to the PL. He has had a hernia operation so with that problem out of the way maybe we will soon see the Stevens of a couple of seasons ago.

They seemed to tire at the end, agree it was a good chance to kill them off. I don't like the keeping it the corner stuff.

Under the impression Hourrihan was brought in for his experience/ wisdom. He looked into the box then went into the corner.
Around me, fans were livid. Chance of a goal there.

When playing in a 4 the primary objective is to defend. Going forward on Saturday RND looked good but Posh still got round the back of him 3 or 4 times. Tonight he cost us the first goal losing the runner behind. Not helped by having another full back playing alongside him as a centre half. Both are currently the weak links in our team and were responsible for both goals conceded tonight. Add in Egan having to play 5 games in 10 days and it illustrates how weak our cover is in this area.
I'm really concerned with his defending, which in a back 4 is his primary job.
Hope Stevens comes back on form, in the meantime give Robinson a go at left back?
Tin hat on

Enda has more experience though, however I think the LB position (if we keep a 4) will be a problem until we have a chance to address it in January

He had a poor game, caught the wrong side on 2 or 3 occassions, and hasn't really cemented that position as his own yet. Stevens is likely to give him a run for his money once fit, if he can recover some of the attributes he was showing in 19/20

I think whilst ever Robinson is at LCB I would prefer Osborn at LB than RND.

And rightly so .

He’s much more effective in the role of advanced midfielder as we saw against Posh . I’ve always thought he looked like a player who had goals in him and if he continues in that role I’m sure we’ll see a good few more .
