Billy sharp cost us the game not Robinson

Doesn’t matter we’re it was it from the fact is no free kick no goal fact

In fact, I blame George Baldock me, if he’d have squared that ball further back to Billy in injury time to score we’d have won 3-1.

It’s Baldocks fault we lost. FACT.

Robinson was awful tonight and could tell the Preston attack were trying to force a mistake out of him, hourahane should be doing better when in the corner, he gave it straight back to them, Sharp was daft for giving the foul and Robinson should be doing much better for the freekick.

I know you are being facetious, but Fleck's failure to square the ball to two unmarked players was shocking. Just literally sidefoot it 6 feet to the left and it's a certain goal.

Aye plenty of coulda, woulda, shoulda moments tonight in stark contrast to the weekend where every time we went forward you expected us to score.

In isolation it’s a frustrating night but there’s definitely positives to take. I think if we’d had a better start overall this might have been easier to take.

We will win more than we lose if we continue in this vein I think.

It’s not a fact, it’s merely an opinion. Billy worked his arse off. He wasn’t to know that the freekick would be the lead up to their equaliser. Defend it, stop it at all costs… that’s my opinion, not a fact… just like yours

Really disappointed with Billy for that moment of naivety.

Yeah Robinson is poor and error prone but there was absolutely no need to give them a last minute opportunity tonlaunch it in like that.

Yet again all goals conceded our own fault.

It's now a bigger issue than scoring.

One of those players was brewster....
Although it's good to see players having a go every now and then. That shot he had straight at the keeper looking like he was shaping to bend it in the corner and putting absolutely no power on it I don't understand the need, you need to have serious skill and confidence to dip it into the far corner surely he needs to practice putting his laces through it, a low hard shot away from the keeper from 15 yards out if on target at least makes the keeper work then you get the rebound opportunities like Berge goal or you might score

Not to absolve the defending from the free kick but Sharp should know better than to barge into their striker on the half way line. It just invited them to load the box and launch it forward. He does carry some of the blame here

Sharp did nothing second half he was blowing out of his arse he should have been subbed well before he gave away the free kick that cost us the points
We're you sat behind me on the kop? Genuine question.

The foul was pretty much on the half way line. If we can't defend a long punt from the half way line then god help us.
Absolutely.
A straight ball in, from the half way line, with seconds to go.

If you can't defend that (unchallenged too) then you aren't good enough to be a professional footballer let alone a Championship one.

It was a huge mistake by a player of Billy’s experience to give away such a daft free kick and the opportunity to launch the ball into our box , the only possible chance they had of scoring .

However , it started before that when Hourihan took the ball to the corner flag when passing options were available and then lost it .

I’ve always hated that approach and it’s not the first time it’s backfired on us .

No a daft free kick would be giving one away on the edge of our box.

Fannying, trying to waste time in the corners. FFS Hourriane looked up and could see two of ours 12 yards out. Pick one out chance of 3-1 game set and bollox.
But no. Into corner, lose possession, couple of fouls, 2 points thrown away.
Didn't deserve to win but that is throwing it away.

This, absolutely this. You’ve had time to regroup, organise yourselves, there should be no danger from that type of free kick,

Seriously? You really don't think Billy was wrong to give them a chance to load the box and lump it forward when there was no need for him to do so? Yes defensive of it was then shocking, but there's fault there for Billy too

So the free kick they scored from was quite a good one to give away ?

I would say Billy thought he was breaking up play and slowing the game down with a tactical foul on the half way line. He probably thought with the entire team back and about a decade to watch the fucking ball float in, that we might just be able to nod the damn ball away.

Couldn't agree more mate, it's a terrible tactic that backfires more often than it succeeds. It basically says "we've no intention of playing any more football, why not have a go at scoring?"

Very poor from Sharp, too. It should have been defended, yes, but a player of his experience shouldn't be giving away those free kicks. I remember Clayton Donaldson did the same thing a few seasons ago and it all but ended his time at the Lane.

Well Billy could have done nothing, let them keep up the tempo and get a cross in the counter.

Then what would we be saying? why didn't Billy gave away a cheeky foul and slow the game down.
