.........................so it seems?

Blackpool and Ipswich are reported to be interested, with Pool offering us a derisory £300k for his services.

McCabe, have you learnt any lessons yet?

We all know that all of our players have their price (as do most clubs) but show some bottle for once will ya!

Would be seriously pissed off if this went through, he's not going to be on much wages, (comparitively speaking) and £300K is a pathetic bid for someone of Lowtons promise.

If McCabe lets him go for that it will show just how desparate we really are.

Considering what we got for the Kyles and the alledged £3M price tag on Slew, wonder what we value him at ?

Totally with you on those comments
Selling Lowton (presuming he's on a decent length contract?) would make no sense whatsoever unless the price tag was something stupid - which I very much doubt if £300k is the low starting bid

I'd be telling Blackpool to do one and come back with a reasonable offer. 300k for a defender who has promise and has shown he can grab the odd goal takes the piss.

You've got to remember that the Mighty Pool only took their record transfer fee over £1M last season, that's a huge offer for them :)

I'd be telling Blackpool to do one.

All you needed to do was stop there mate, no need to sell the lad. There are others on bigger money who should be leaving first, not the cheaper youngsters who actually show some promise.

It doesn't matter if he goes for £300k or £3million. 100% of any transfer fee will go into McCabe's bank account, so the amount pumped into strengthening the team will be the same.

We should be telling them that no youngsters are for sale at any price. Then they would have to come in with a stupid bid if they want them. After all it was what Mccabe said no youths would be sold unless a big offer came in. They should stick a minimum of 3 mil on him as well

So by the looks everyone seems to be more interested in our Young talent not the old sacks of shit we have. If we sold Lowton and Slew we would exactly be reducing the wage bill

I agree but lets face it, the club has basically already said everyone has a price. And say if they came back with an offer in the region of £1-2 million I think the club would snap their hand off.

Though personally if they value Slew at £3 million I'd be valuing Lowton at around that or above.

He's already expected to be my player of the season for the forthcoming year, kind of in a Jags type role, expect to see him play most of the season in the back 4 but I can see him stepping into midfield to do a job when needed.

If clubs in the Championship or PL come in for either of them they will go. We will (at best) hold out for a slightly higher fee than the first offer and then they'll be off. In our situation the buying clubs hold all the cards and we are vulnerable. I expect us to lose one or two this summer that I would rather we kept but its just one of those things. The structure of the modern game doesnt allow small and under performing clubs to hold on to their best players. While ever we are in the doldrums, other clubs will cherry pick from us and will probably get players off us for less than their true market value. As bb would say, same owd same owd.

Do you have any evidence to back this up?

Teams must know that we have a soft underbelly when it comes to offers knowing that kind of offer would not be an insult.
Why not try it with our board you might just get lucky, throw in a friendly and hes yours.

Jordan Slew, based on the things we've heard, I could understand if United cut their losses and sold him for £1-1.5m instead of risking a tribunal and such next summer.

Matt Lowton has a 1+1 year deal. That means it is a 2-year deal as far as United are concerned. £300,000? Blackpool are having a laugh. United should get the numerous quotes from Holloway regarding Vill/Spurs/Liverpool and their bids for Charlie Adam and fax them back to him. That should make our point nicely.

I would be angry if United sold Lowton for anything less than £2m and personally think it should be more.

You're forgetting the promising youth player on loan being thrown into the bargain :)

Of course I do, 10 minutes before making that post McCabe personally faxed me a sworn statement saying he intended to do it.

Was there just one 'question to which the answer is obviously no' or do you have another one?
