I got the feeling that the club was bowing to fan pressure when they sacked Mr Blackwell, after to be fair what was a shocking season, even the players he brought in to cover for injured players where going down injured shortly after arriving, and every thing that could go wrong for him did.
It was due to Mr Blackwell we stayed up 2007-08 . when he took over from Mr Robson and we finished 8th, the following season 3rd then 8th again in that terribly injury hit season.. 2009
IMO, it was fan pressure again that after the board sold Paddy Kenny and Billy Sharp, Mr Blackwell who had been persuaded to stay on resigned after the first home game 3-0 defeat to Mr Warnock's .Queens park rangers
The fans wanted a different style and so Mr Speed took over, He didn't have time to remake the team so there wasn't a great deal of difference to the results, though to be fair he never got a transfer window and the loss of Morgan (cruciate ligament in October must have been a big blow.
He left for the Wales job and John Carver took over as Care taker manager.
So the next manager the club brought in was Mr Adams, a big Blade supporter,
United had lost the spine of the team, ( Kenny Morgan and Henderson) and under Mr Adams, Bartley, Britton and Jamie Ward were transferred out..
United went 14 games before recording a win, and had dropped into the bottom three by the beginning of February, and were relegated at the end of the season.
But hey lets look on the bright side, the fans had finally gotten rid of Mr Warnock and Mr Blackwell's style of play......
