Bogle and Freeman

Must start. Simple as that.

The overall performance yesterday was better for 60 mins, but although we definitely SHOULD have scored, I can’t recall any clear cut opportunities created.

Bogle and Freeman are two of our most creative players, in a side where our only likely chance of creation currently is a 6’4 CDM breezing past someone and whipping a ball into the box we are kinda fucked without more creation.

Baldock and Bash, god love them, might as well be Nick Montgomery and Chris Morgan when it comes to delivering balls into the box. RND looked great, and will definitely be a good option on the left only getting better with more games.

There are plenty of points I could make, plenty of ideas on who should be dropped, sold, the slow movement at board level and our tactics - but we’d be here all day.

The one thing that is obvious is we need creativity. Play Bogle, play Freeman as a number 10. I don’t care what system it is, I don’t care who’s dropped to make way for them, and I don’t give a fuck how they train. They’re exciting, they’re dynamic, they have skill and they have the ability to do something different. Play them.
 



Freeman was the only one that was a positive last Wednesday, yet didn't even get on as Sub yesterday

I'm assuming it must've been because our midfield were having a great game 🤷‍♂️

Didn't Bogle start as a winger before Derby trained him at wingback?? Given all our messing about with formations and personnel I don't get why he hasn't been tried.
 
It’s crazy that we barely score week after week and no one has thought to try an attacking midfielder - how could results get any worse??

I like baldock but again bogle is like our most attacking threat. Scored and got into good positions in the league above. Again what’s the harm in giving him a go
 
Bogle should definitely start over Baldock. Freeman would be a disaster

How fans think Baldock is our best player every week literally confuses me. Getting up and down the pitch he’s great, I’ll accept that. But what does he create? Never scores. His attacking qualities are weak
 
Was absolutely baffling neither got a run out. I'm not sure what the coaching staff are seeing.
 
Freeman is absolutely not the answer but I suppose he should be given a shot given that everyone else is failing so dismally.

He won't make any difference though.
 
Baldock - Egan - Davies - RND
Bogle - Berge - Freeman
McBurnie - Sharp - Brewster

The need for new players is obvious, and once that's addressed Bogle should take over from Baldock, but in the meantime I would like to see this starting XI

Why would he? 😂 Fleck, Norwood hardly pulling up any trees are they? I don’t think he could do any worse

  • Freeman was the worst player on the park in the cup and equally ineffective off the bench in the league, unless you value running into dead ends and conceding possession
  • Fleck and Norwood play different roles to Freeman, you're not swapping like for like so I don't know why you make that comparison. They've both been wank but if you tried a straight swap Freeman would be even worse

Give me a lineup with Freeman starting that doesn't get completely run over in the centre

He was by far the only shining light against West Brom 😂

And as a number 10, you know, his position
 
Up to last season the squad we had wasn't doing too bad, no that's not right, they were in fact doing very well for themselves.
What went wrong ? I could make a guess, but like everybody else that's all I can do. maybe we just ran out of luck but what ever it was it was magic, and we where lucky to be there to see it, I think most of us probably know someone who wasn't....
But anyway that's gone and now we have a new Boss who has to get that confidence back into a group of player who appear to have totally lost their Mojo,
and as quick as possible please, or else .

IMO the first thing he has to do is see who's up for it out of mainly the players who did it last time,
Secondly, What the best formation is to do that, and where he needs to stick a plaster to get the team winning again .
So it's Quick fix this window, major surgery Christmas....

Me and a mate were arguing in favour of this yesterday at the match. I watched the game again today and these were my observations:

The back threes passing and interplay around our own box was so good that Huddersfield changed tactics, abandoning their high press altogether long before the first goal. The two other teams that pressed us when we were playing a back four this season (Swansea and West Brom) had a load of joy. When we have played the three or have not been pressed (Brum) Berge and Norwood have controlled the game for long periods.
There was clear structural problems in our set up yesterday that carried on from last season: we had no overloads down our left that made us very right side orientated, neutralising Fleck and Norrington Davies as attacking forces. The solution to this is integrating Davies in the overloads and/or introducing a number ten. If we do the latter I think we need to bring in an energetic DM as our midfield lacks legs and can be countered on the break (even with the flat three). Norwood and Fleck are not the athletes they used to be unfortunately. A ten can help us attack more down the left even if Davies cannot create overloads; as long as this ten veers more to the left side interchanging with Fleck and Norrington Davies. When we had Duffy his principle role was creating overloads rather than the traditional tens role of running beyond and joining in with the strikers.

Another issue is a lack of players stretching the game. None of the midfielders make third man runs beyond the backline unlike, say, Lundstram in the first prem season. Brewster and Mcburnie also both come towards the ball. Brewster has to be more selfish and make runs in behind and in the channels in order to turn the backline and make them less confident in defending narrow and high. This is how you open up space for midfield players and get through on goal.

Another obvious issue is our fitness issue due to our shit pre season. Berge was cooked after an hour along with a few others. Slav fooked up not bringing energy on the pitch earlier.
 
We really don’t have the players to play 4 unless we have a diamond in midfield. The issue is that we need someone to do a Duffy job which at the moment has to be Freeman.

at Watford he played a 3421 formation which we do have players to suit. we could play Freeman and goldy behind a main striker, allow berge to make runs from deep. We could then do with someone with legs to hold the midfield.

could do with a left wing back who who inventive in the final third and I have no issues Bogle for baldock(if baldock is going) as Bogle is good in the ribal

we looked good for 60 mins on Saturday. but now he has gone back to a 3 at the back he now needs to work out how to be creative.

If nobody left and we didn’t bring anyone in this is my team for Luton

Your last paragraph sums up our biggest problem at the moment, your observations regarding >60 mins are what cost us the game.

Fitness will come & there were encouraging signs 0 - 60 mins on Sat, although the final product & overall attacking play remains a big concern.

I'm starting to think George knows where all the bodies are buried. And if Kieron Freeman had a better fitness record Baldock would have never supplanted him.
 
Not saying much obviously, as we didn’t create a single chance once again, but these make us look so much better in possession. You actually believe they CAN create things and they CAN move us up the pitch.
