Spoke one of the girls in the ticket office on Tuesday and she said that there had been 10.5k season tickets sold by the renewal date. She did not have updated figures, but said there had been a 'steady stream' being sold since (one a day on average).

Not sure if this is common knowledge, or if it has been discussed elsewhere. I could not see any discussion so thought I would share.

Going pretty much to form that then. I expect we'll probably sell somewhere between 11 to 12,000 by the start of the season. People who leave it til late in the summer will top it up quite quickly.

One a day is a steady stream? It's not even a dripping tap!

Why bother with the overheads of the ticket office during the summer if we give up on selling ST for four months. The deadlines and pricing of STs we adopt is a strange way to run a business if you want to do all you reasonably can to keep old and attract new customers.

One ST a day is shocking. I hope it tells the club something is wrong with it's policies and they come up with something more dynamic for next year but I appreciate I'm flogging a dead horse.

Meanwhile evryone seems quite content we've managed to lose nearly half our ST holders in just over a year.

I have it from a reliable source we are close to 12000 adult tickets sold
I also know that those being bought on hp arent counted in till paid for

and every year some waverers relent and take up the gauntlet

I'll bet my mortgage on us not having 12,000 season ticket holders without counting the HP ers right now.

The season ticket sales will lead many into a false sense of security. There will be far fewer takers for third division football with a trimmed down squad without the offers, as is the plan next season.

I'll be amazed if we average above 15,000 next season. Some inspirational signings are required, but I'm not holding my breath.

12,000 season tickets?
So that will mean crowds barely above 15,000 and when it comes to a Tuesday night match in December at home to Rochdale we will be down to the season ticket holders only.

There won't be any special offers to tempt people in, it's full price or nothing. Bert is struggling to think of any other retail business that operates on that policy. There will be thousands of empty seats and no way of filling them unless we are running away with the league, which sadly won't happen.
They have backed themselves into a corner and will either have to backtrack or loose a great deal of money.

Must admit, I'm surprised they have shut the door on half season tickets, special offers etc, can't really see any reason why next season should be any different to previous seasons. I can understand not undermining (if that's the right word) those who have paid full whack for ST's but I'm sure I remember from previous seasons that they said lower price offers etc were factored into the price.

Our average was down 5,000 last season and to be honest, we're probably looking at the same drop again. The rest is down to the team, no doubt crowds will pick up if we're up there challenging but the club don't seem to be helping and have taken a very strange stance IMO.

....You're either in......or you're out.....

The general feedback from the "in's" seems to be they are happy with it. Bed well and truly made and as NRS I've no problem with that.

The block on half season tickets and special offers was to truely reward those loyal fans who renewed early.
If the club go back on this then they will be slammed for going back on their word.

The only offers will be for half season tickets in December, but you'll have to sign up for the following season. The club want to reward their loyal fans who get their ST early surely there is something good in that.

They normally are, however if you added up the discounts available last year, you'd find there was very little monetary bonus in buying a season ticket.

Sorry but I don't get it.

How does blocking half season tickets 'truely reward loyal fans' when the price they've paid reflects the fact that there will be special offers during the season ?

If a loyal fan has bought a ST for say, £300 and the club then sell half season tickets for £180 in December, how is that a kick in the teeth for loyal fans ? If a loyal fan is paying, on average, £13 a game over the season, how does offering reduced prices for 3 or 4 games over the season affect this ?

But a bonus there was :)

It's not cost efficient for me to buy an ST because I always a miss a few games. But I still buy one for the convenience.

However, there are fewer of my lot buying STs these days. That combined with the increasing ease of buying on-line and using the smart-card entry system means I'm getting nearer and nearer to not buying one.

I think the club need to do more to make STs more attractive rather than do less for the individual ticket buyer. No easy answers...

Bradford do something similar, we should do something like it. Having 25000 season ticket holders at say 250 quid would be better than 15000 paying more. Plus there is other benefits such as merchandise, beverages etc.

Brownie thinks Bert should stop bitching about not getting preferential treatment when the ticket office didn't kow tow to Bert's demands.

Even a stunted mutant with half a brain managed to renew his before the deadline

I could regale with thousand of stories about the stunted mutant with half a brain, he has also got some incriminating stories about me that are not for public consumption so i'll refrain!

Aren't Bradford struggling because despite stromg ticket sales, their revenue is two tenths of bugger all?

I'm concerned we've swung the pendulum too far away from discounting, but I don't think Bradford are the model to follow.
