£24m plus add-ons is great business for us as his value will go down the longer he stays in the Championship.
We would also be in a much weaker negotiation position next summer if we don’t go up.
The England call-up came at the right time for us to maximize his value, and it’s refreshing that we have held out for a good deal as in previous years he would have gone 3 weeks ago for £10m or so.

Agree with a lot of what you say apart from his value dropping - home grown GKs will always be in high demand and therefore be expensive to buy as long as they're in contract. A season in the Champ didn't do Buendia's value any harm. In fact, him excelling last season only increased it.

There might be inflation re price for an English keeper, but equally there is always an inflated price to pay for an attacking/scoring flair player, add in Villa were more than likely aware they could hold onto Grealish for much longer, and obviously 6 months later the Grealish money more than covers the fee for Buendia

As second season in the Champ would lower his value quite a bit.

If you’d told me in Dec that we’d get £24-28m for his I’d have pissed myself… if we’re being offered that kind of money we’d be insane to not sell him.

If we don't know what the add-ons/clauses are... How can some psychic fans know they won't be met?

Would we agree to pointless add-ons/clauses...?!

Leno will get sold next summer (contract up in 2 years) and Ramsdale will be their keeper for 10+yrs, all being well.

The guys on ‘Sheff Utd Way’ have hinted they know what’s going on and there might be a surprise in store.

Make of that what you will.

Arsenal get Aaron Ramsdale transfer wish as Sheffield United 'slash asking price'

According to The Athletic, Sheffield United have slashed their original asking price of £35million down to a much more palatable £24m.

The Blades’ return to the negotiating table, tails firmly between their legs, indicates that they are keen to cash in on the youngster before the summer window closes.

thats one way of looking at it another is that although we asked for 35m our board knew there was no way we would get that so you could turn this argument the other way round and 24m plus 6m in add ons is a fantastic deal for the club imo and will give us the opportunity to bring another 4 players in which we badly need

No one argued he didn’t, the issue was you saying he was actively putting out stories to force our hand. You were saying he was “gutted” and unhappy the move has been pulled when he was in fact happy to stay if they didn’t meet our valuation. The press leaked stories seem to be (as many of us mentioned last week), was what Arsenal would do to try and drive down the deal and under settle him. It hasn’t worked and now they’ve seemingly returned to the table with an increased offer, again as several of us suggested last week.
Almost boringly predictable.

"he was IN FACT happy to stay..."

Oh right. So what I say is definitely false, but what you say is fact.. Aaron, are you there?

i think this is somewhere in between yes he probably would have been happy to stay but also he wasnt going to turn a move back to the premier league and treble the salary down is he 24m plus 6m add ons is a great deal for united imo

The money figure is all conjecture, looking at it from a different slant hopefully this could be our coup de grace as Rammers could be the linch pin making way for new players.

Why would he be?
He never asked to be sold the first time! On Chris Wilders wedding day!

Why the Fuck are you so hell bent on decimating this 23yr old lad.
I said id talk to you at the baggies on wednesday and you threw in Are you the hard man!!
No i aint, the lad wants to play football his passion his reason for being, He will be a great for Sheffield utd unless he is sold thats Not in his control.
So please by all means discuss and speculate but PLEASE dont put whats going on at Aarons door (feet).

Arsenal are inching closer to completing a deal for Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, with the Blades lowering their asking-price considerably.

The Athletic have reported that talks are very much back underway between the Gunners and United. It comes after discussions reached an impasse last week, and Arsenal apparently walked away.

But it seems that the deal is very much back on now. The Express report that United have taken around £11m off their original asking-price of £35m for Ramsdale. The club are now inclined to accept closer to £24m, with potential add-ons thrown in.

Not going to get into the mud slinging debate…no idea either way (nor do I care tbh). However, as I understand these matters, if he doesn’t request a transfer he’s entitled to a hefty chunk of any ‘loyalty’ bonus.

Doesn’t stop his agent touting his name around mind…

we were never going to get 35m for rammy but 24m plus 6m add ons is a damm site more than the derisory 18m arsenal offered first so i would say its levels you devils on this one neither club have won the argument

Not so long ago this would have been sorted with the first offer. Its nice to be the awkward selling club for a change.
