I’d be disappointed if we’re using up a loan slot for a keeper when we need expensive options elsewhere. I’d guess it means only one option coming in at the top of the pitch.

I'm surprised he's not going back to Everton tbh. Did Pickford a world of good having him there.

I thought the loan limit was only for players from the English league, didn't think it included players from foreign leagues. It is not unlikely I am wrong though, wouldn't be the first time and won't be the last

Gonna be in a weak position at the end of the season when he goes back then regardless of whether or not we go up.

Took us years and years to get a decent permanent goal keeper and we're selling him after one season.
By "permanent" do you mean one that only comes off his line to have a run around outside his box ?

We don’t really have much choice. You can’t be turning down £25m> For a keeper in this division.

Technically we’re selling a decent GK after half a season
Prior to January he wouldn’t have got a transfer to Rotherham.

We need to go back up, if not this year then next

If Olsen, who I think is a more reliable and vocal GK than Rammers comes in, we get £30m to spend further up the field and keep Berge then that’s good business

Let’s worry about august 2022 nearer the time.
there may well be a buy out clause as next June he will be 32 and in the last 12 months, token £1m should do it

We need to realise that there isn’t a sugar daddy button - if we want to buy players, which we do, we need to raise funds, or stick with what we’ve got

We can’t buy and not sell.

We’ll put ourselves in a great position financially if we can get promoted with only loan signings

but then we need a very solid transfer strategy if we do go up, which imo means doing most of our business in the first 2 weeks of the window. Possible but unlikely knowing the pace we work at.

It’s even more important as by then i’d expect stalwarts Didzy, Sharp, Bash and Enda all to have served their last seasons with us if we are kicking on at a higher level.

I think having the majority on loan mean that those that come in to do a job in the championship e.g. olsen, do their job and then go back to their club so we don’t have the birden of wages of players who we don’t believe are good enough for the prem

Why do you presume the slow pace is at our end? How long have Arsenal been trying to sign a certain keeper, how long have they been chasing Odegaard , City haven't signed Kane, countless examples that show the deal is not confined to the buying/selling clubs, 2 agents, 2 clubs, 1 player, his family, god knows how many others involved in the medical, legal aspects, image rights etc

There were people probably tongue on cheek saying they would prefer the Plymouth keeper when we played them that's how recent he was god awful so you're bang on there, I doubt he will be worth 30 million ever again while he's with us, be daft not to cash in

The higher your target, the more the competition, the longer it takes. Unless you have the money or standing to blow the competition out the water of course.
There’s no reason for the selling club or player to accept an early deal unless they’re desperate to get rid/out.

I think a loan for this season is the best option, as long as we are monitoring potential perms if we are promoted.

I think we have to accept that times have changed.

Thinking that we've nailed the keeper position for the next ten years only works if you are Man U, Madrid, etc or your keeper really isn't that good to be coveted by others.

We just have to be cute in the market. If we are genuinely linked with the Sweden Number 1 who was first pick at the Euros, then that suggests we are being.

Remember, as John Maynard Keynes said, "in the long term, we're all dead."

Agree mate

End of 19/20 season he was relegated as PoTY - end of 20/21 he was relegated as PoTY

Getting an England call up put £10m on his head

with Pope & Hendo out injured, Rammers was the only PL English GK left, given Heaton & McCarthy ship has sailed

Pickford is as predictable as a danger wank, but Rammers won’t dislodge him, ever.

I've always assumed for the EFL the maxium in the matchday squad is 5 regardless if the player is domestic or not.

I thought the English league/foreign league rule was for Premier League.

Could be wrong.
