The majority of 'twitter voices' aren't even stadium goers. Plenty of them reside in places like Abuja, millions of em.

At £24m rising to £30m I think this deal comes into the realm of us wearing a mask in negotiations and claiming we’ve got Arteta‘s pants down. TBH don’t think he will ever rise the heights of Henderson or Pickford. He’s a confidence keeper and will struggle with fans on his back.
That said pleased for him as he will end up a bench warming millionaire At Arsenals expense.
think weve no choice at that price
Snatch their hands off and run to the bank. Reyt good business IMO. Only worry is we’ll get fleeced by his replacements club thinking we’ve got money in buckets after our daylight robbery.

We're pushing Arsenal as far as they'll go
When they tire of it we'll go crawling back and accept an offer that was less than their starting offer

Of course we will. Probably give most of the money to Chantorelle or what ever the French team is called, and prince Abdul will keep the rest. It's the Sheffield united way.

It’s all well and good selling ramsdale for 20 million. What if we go back up and the other goalie isn’t good enough. You need to find a fortune again for a suitable keeper.Need to think longer term and like a bigger club.

Fans wanting to sell ramsdale so we can finance a QPR keeper and a 500k winger from Crewe is finest example of we never think like a big club.

For a proper discussion on a big club:

He’ll be ok for the first season as I don’t think he’ll see the field much and the anger will be directed at the club for spending so much on a backup. The season after that however when Leno is in the last year of his deal and thus easier to move on.............yeah thick skin required to handle the most entitled fan base in football.
He got plenty of shit from Blades early last season and that didn’t put him off. We’re almost his extended family, I doubt he’ll care too much about a bunch of southern whingers. I bet half of the comments are from Spurs fans taking the piss. In fact, I might open a twatter account, pretend I’m a pig and then abuse their players on a regular basis. Just tweet Chancer every day saying “why r yOu rooning my clUb you toser”.

Yeah he got plenty of it from us and I’m sure that hurt in fact I was a bit worried about him for a while. That arsenal fan base has form for being fucking intense online though both in a positive and negative way plus the national media interest will be much higher at arsenal. We’ve already seen it with him and berge this summer sticking them in a headline is guaranteed clicks.

And I stand by it.

His record for two thirds of last season was disappointingly shit and it's not entirely fair to blame a lot of the goals and fuck ups and losses on the defence, shit as that was.

Last third - 'doing his job'

England team? England, England's Number Four, as the Birmingham fans were shouting

Their goal, and our loss? Should have got a hand to it, as he should have done the Wolves goals a year ago.

pommpey
My take exactly Pommpey. Ramsdale was one of the main reasons we were down by December. Picked up last 12 games, but only to 'OK' standard. Still out of position a lot, and that dive he does after the ball is past him is his stock-in-trade. Must be some fuckin' shit keepers on the continent if The Arse want him as back up....

I definitely take your point but this is the price you pay for recruiting Inadequately at the top level then not making any changes to make a better job of what you have left.

Norwich lost Godfrey and Lewis.

Sky Sports News just took a break from analysing how Messi ate a sandwich in Paris or something to say that talks between us and arsenal are ongoing but there's still a gap between valuations.

I haven’t seen the accounts for the 20/21 season as they’re not out yet but our total wage bill including staff was £77m for the previous season. If you just assume last season was the same, that’s £154m. Add to that our transfers and whatever has been paid towards buying the stadium etc it can’t be far off that.

Unless you know different, in which case, you should probably write an article about it.
We couldn't even have one small conversation/debate without a dig, could we?

I don’t think I’ve ever had a dig at you before. I didn’t like the tone of your reply to my post, it felt like you were having a dig so I had one back. You didn’t offer any counter argument, just contradicted me.

Selling your top players is inevitable unless you're Man City, Bayern, PSG, Barcelona, Real Madrid or possibly Man U. Even huge clubs like Man U and Liverpool have had to do it. What matters is how you react: Liverpool sold Coutinho and used the proceeds to fix their major weaknesses at centre half (van Dijk) and goalkeeper (Alisson). Chelsea sold Hazard and improved. Leicester sold Maguire and improved. Brentford sold Watkins and improved. Our issue historically is that we've sold our best players then bought dross.

Yes, it's how you react
Seven versatile cover players that can't unshirt the shit that's already holding the shirt is my bet.

It was a question 🤣
I wasn't sure all the PL money has been spent/accounted for, that was/is my counter-argument...

You do know that we have a different manager don't you? And that the owner wasn't a fan of the previous manager's recruitment.

Fair enough, it came across as the kind of leading question a barrister would ask whilst knowing the answer. In that case, sorry for the dig.

I don’t know if it has or hasn’t but a quick look at the accounts indicates that it’s quite feasible that it has been spent. Even with the relegation clauses, our wage bill could be close to £40m and then we’ve got the rest of the running costs on top. We may have some money spare, it seems no one outside the club knows for sure but I just don’t really understand why people are incredulous about the possibility that we’ve spent it all.

As others have pointed out, almost every club that’s been relegated has had to sell players to ease the financial situation so it shouldn’t be that surprising if we have to. And the fact we haven’t signed anyone at all despite the season starting is quite unusual.

I do wonder if PA is holding back some of the money in case there’s another lockdown and we lose out on gate money and have to give partial refunds to ST holders.

Yes, I know
But we should stick to what we're good at, seven versatile cart horses is the way forward.

It never works well when we sign somebody who is supposed to be good.

Two of them will be world beaters to our fans because they will achieve stone cold average levels of performance, and be rewarded with a cheap sale to Birmingham or Forest or somebody.

The other five will end up at Stenhousemuir or Airdrie

Still, the two that move to the Championship giants will have made the exercise worthwhile
