I agree 100% but what are those 3 worth? And would they leave us cash in the bank to strengthen? We’d get them off the wage list which would be the most beneficial thing but I don’t think we’d get anywhere near £5m-£10m for any of them. Huge loss of Moose/ Mcburnie
True, however I think we should take those losses and be happy with anything we get (around 10 million for Norwood & Moose/McBurnie combined should be possible) because with this squad (even with Berge & Ramsdale) I don't see how we could go from terrible football to Championship contender with just a change of the manager.

If we really need 40 million before we can buy new players, I would be really happy if we could sell Ramsdale for 24+6, sell some of the players above for the remaining 10-15 so we have enough room in our wages budget to loan/buy some fresh players that can impact our team.

They are buying homegrown potential, and simply put that comes at a MASSIVE premium. Based on current ability, he's not a world beater - but GKs with 2 years Premier League and experience at his age aren't too common.

If the reported figures are true then think we've done well to get top end of his market 'value', so credit to the board

If Aaron fulfils his potential at Arsenal, then they will have done well and have an excellent value for money signing.

Calculated gamble.
He could become the next Pickford, he could become the next Butland.

You should never gamble on promotion, especially since we're talking about the Championship the most unpredictable league in Europe.

However, we should try option 3 where we sell our not essential players like Norwood, Mousset, McBurnie and try to keep Berge and add some solid talents.

We'd be worse off I reckon if we sold those lot. We've no choice but to hope some of these players turn it around because their values have tanked.

Norwood, 30, Championship pedigree but dangerously off the boil, best case £3-5m - £1-3m profit

Mousset, currently injured, never played 90 minutes in England, bit of a sicknote, not disruptive but attitude problems, last year of contract. Best case £3m, £3-7m loss depending on who you believe.

McBurnie, championship pedigree, not shown much in the Prem if you're looking for players to grow with you, bit of an unknown really with form and injuries. Best case £8-12m if we're lucky, £5-9m loss.

What a waste? Waste of money too. £25m plus for a second choice keeper is just bizarre.

Not necessarily. £25m on a young established GK. his standing at n the pecking order is irrelevant at this point if he’s to becomes 1st choice within a year. He will
Be 24 and have 10 years in him..

Well he is going to be first choice in a year so not really.
And that’s 100% guaranteed? If Leno has an unbelievable season he gets dropped because the promised Aaron?

It’s the name Arsenal that appeals to him and nothing else.

They’re not the team they once were, no other club is interested in him. Wolves, Watford, Southampton, Brighton have been rumoured to want a new first choice keeper and probably run a mile at the price we want.

It’s irrelevant to us but do you not think £25m of their budget should go on or towards something that will improve their team immediately.

They had one of the better defences (top 10 I believe) last season but couldn’t win games.

Have you ever tried selling things that no one wants to buy? Mousse is in the last year of his contract, not completed 90 minutes for us or Bournemouth and appears injury prone or just down right unlucky, McB has hardly set the game alight with his goals or performances in the PL, likewise Norwood, add on his age etc just who are banging on the doors to sign them? No one in the PL, so how many clubs in the Championship can afford them and their wages?

Fans wanting to sell ramsdale so we can finance a QPR keeper and a 500k winger from Crewe is finest example of we never think like a big club.
Because we’re not a big club. We’re a championship club that has to sell its assets to fund the future. Unless we get some billionaire take us over this is the way it will be. Look at the financial troubles over 50% of this league are in from financial mismanagement.

Ramsdale’s stock has never been higher.

I’ve just got everything crossed we identified a replacement for him already and that bid has been submitted.

50%, after increase due to new contracts so still more than we were paying last time we were here, significantly more. Also didn’t the wage bill last time include all the promotion bonus’ so it’s inflated. Closer to £20M wasn’t it?

Its also relevant that last time we were in the Championship the owner was subsiding the club as we could afford the wage bill we had and here we are again with a much larger wage bill. It’s not hard to see where them money is going and that’s before we get into the Covid losses.
£45m parachute payments this season alone.

I understand that .It’s just the people making out it’s something to be celebrated losing a star player and assuming we will spend all of the profit on incomings.

Leno will be in the last year of his contract.

Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale looks to be heading to north London as Arsenal are in advanced talks to purchase the 23-year-old, according to Football London’s
The 23-year-old was left out of the Blades squad against Carlisle United in the Carabao Cup last night and now it appears that a deal is close to being sealed for his services.
Arsenal have already had two bids rejected for Ramsdale this summer, but an improved off of an initial £24 million, rising to £30 million with add-ons and that is what Arsenal are expected to pay.
This “left out of the Blades squad last night” thing is lazy journalism to the point of imbecility. We had 11 changes from Saturday FFS. Does this mean they’re all leaving?

'Completely panicking!' - Arsenal fans fume amid latest Aaron Ramsdale transfer update

The English goalkeeper has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium for the majority of the summer and Arsenal are now understood to be closing in on signing the Sheffield United man

Any best guesstimate of where our likely wage bill is going to be? Within a similar ball park?

Also the obvious point is those parachute payments drop pretty quickly yet contracts don’t.

The first half of the season he didn't look like a 2.4 million goalkeeper. Second half he improved but the damage was done for many.

Who has suggested this....

Ah, nobody.
