Transfer Question

This has been suggested but Jokanovic said he wanted 4 additions, 5 after last night's lacklustre performance and also said he wanted to keep Berge and Ramsdale, so my guess would be no.

I just think we are relying on Prem teams to finalise their squads so that we can get players on loan.
It's shit but it is what it is.

No seeing as we’ve mostly been linked to loans that would seem a very odd state of affairs. I know loans have associated fees but we should be able to cover those with parachute payments. I think if we wanted to massively overhaul the squad then we would’ve had to sell the Crown Jewels. As things stand we’re linked to viera (loan to buy) Davies (loan) garner (loan) Doyle (loan) and Kirk (500k). All that should be achievable for united without sales I also think it’s a case of Doyle or garner not both. And the new 5th one Slav has added on probably hasn’t hit the press yet.

I think we just need to get a couple wages of the books. Not necessarily needing to sell to make money

it should be within our capabilities yogi but ive a hunch at least 1 of either rammy or berge have to be sold before we can bring these 4 or 5 in i would like to see us bring viera garner and doyle in we need young legs in midfield both garner and doyle look as though they can carry the ball through midfield to open things up and thats somat norwood and fleck cant do im afraid

sell rammers , get the 6m keeper form OPR and spend the £24m on the CB we DESPERATELY need and the MF we need to replace

They’d be gone already if we did. I also don’t think a self respecting manager would take a job and have the the temerity to speak about promotion in the knowledge that he’s hamstrung.
Only a hunch but if the Prince had told Slav he can take the job but he's got to wheel and deal I think he would have told him to shove it.

Maybe the replacement for Ramsdale is already at the club, he did well out on loan at the end of last season. I think we could perhaps live with losing Ramsdale, Berge is at the moment our only half decent midfielder.

We’ll see obviously sales can’t be ruled out although if we do sell I think our targets will shift

We will not be signing premiership loans until their teams have confirmed squads.
it is obviously a different ball game if Ramsdale or Berge are sold and I believe both will be if the relevant fees are offered. but do have confidence that the Prince runs a better business model than Mccabe and will only sell if we have others lined up to come in and for that reason will not leave it too late.

I would swap the QPR keeper for Freeman. Double win
We ain't getting much for Freeman , we couldn't even sell him last summer and had to loan him when Wilder had got bored with him. Rammers ain't all that , snatch the Gooners' £30m whilst he's just been in England squad by default - he won't get in it again - another goal bounced over his late dive on Saturday

He's a legend at QPR though and clearly wants to leave. If we did go for the QPR keeper it would make sense to throw him in to any deal.

We should have enough at the club already really. It's up to the manager to get the best out of them.
Nope.
JoC is crocked.
Mousset is made of biscuits.
Things go in cycles - Baldock , Stevens , Fleck & Norwood have faded badly.
Sharp & Didsy are the best two strikers but too old now.
Ossi will get physically overpowered at LB.
We have ONE decent CB who can play in a two.
Bash & Robinson can't.
Wilder bought a load of crap in Burke , Brewster & to some extent McBurnie.
Berge is excellent but not built for a physical scrap in the EFL.
The decent young striker is Jebbo who hasn't even got a squad number.
The way we got bullied Saturday suggests a continued downward slide.
We need a physically commanding CB or 2 if Lopata is not considered ready.
We need at least 2 MF with some energy & forward thinking guile.
We need to wake up + smell the coffee with Burke & Brewster , set aside Wilder's blunders + either play Jebbo or get someone in who looks like a goalscorer.
Major surgery required to set up a "new cycle" of the team.
It's tough for the Prince , but he knows in his heart that Wilder wasted all the PL income.
Norwich didn't spend a penny + got re-promoted.
No wonder Wilder left through embarrassment after an abject season in which he called his own acquisitions "Championship Players" after spending £120m.
He's left us in a right mess.
And we don't even play the positive players like Bogle & Jebbo - bizarre.

He had no chance with Brums goal.
Only superman would have stopped it .
Come on ! Be fair to the lad!!

Does anyone think the delay in signing players is we have to sell before we can bring anyone in ? Just a thought
Star yesterday:

“But there are suspicions United’s hierarchy are unlikely to conclude a deal for the midfielder, who started his career with Leeds before being bought by Sampdoria, unless Berge is sold.”

To some extent I understand that loan players from premier league clubs will take longer due to squad confirmation.

However, I don’t buy it. If this was a real issue how has business already been done by other clubs? and secondarily are players like Doyle and Garner realistic going to be able to force their way into starting 11s that contain world multI-million pound players? I think not.

As much as I don’t like placing blame, I think we are making excuses for a whole preseason (fixtures, signings, etc) that has been poorly planned out, putting us on the back foot and we are now playing catch-up. Questions need to asked.

He's a lovely lad but he ain't £30m or England keeper - snatch the Gooners money whilst it's there + buy a midfield with some legs & guile.
He’s also possibly more suited to the premiership than the championship. Look at B’ham on Saturday they lumped it to their strikers at every opportunity and put pressure on Ramsdale, Robinson and Osborn when they could. This will happen on a weekly basis.

If we need money from sales then let’s move him on for £30m plus, but it’s vital we replace him immediately. We cannot go forward with Verrips & Fodringham

The board have a very difficult decision to make:
  1. Stop playing hard ball and accept offers for players in order to restructure/freshen the team so slav haves what he needs to mount a promotion challenge.
  2. Keep hold of the players, and hope Slav can work some magic in the transfer market, although after spending time away from England what contacts does he have and where
The issue with option one is if teams aren’t offering us the money needed to sell these players so we are better off and can re-invest their is very little point in selling anyone, it’s an act of self harm, financially and performance wise. Option two relies on one of two things either Slav is able to work within a set a parameters or the board need to magic up some money from somewhere. The problem with signing players when your on the back-foot and a few weeks behind everyone else is your going to be at the back of a queue.

All this talk of a new midfielder, when we have one in Belgium, who, according to PurpleRain is more than good enough to play championship football and is available to bring back if needed (last reported) is something I find strange, especially when we are chasing a very similar player in Vieira. I remember after Doncaster we were close, so, whats the recruitment team saying to put people off.

Our squad is still light years ahead of 95% of the other squads in this league. Saturday belongs to the manager. A back four and a front three are you kidding me? Fleck on the right 🤪 Robinson and Osborn in a back four? A team set up to get the best from Burke? Not Sharp, Brewster, Mcgoldrick, Mcburnie Jebbison, Mousset. A Norwood and Berge partnership?
Nobody wants to say it, but SJ shit his first game as United manager. You could have asked somebody on the Kop to put a team out and they couldn't have done worse. I can only assume he doesn't know our players and has never watched us.Let's hope he's a quick learner.

There are very big holes in the squad. Too many for automatic promotion.

I also don’t see a playoff campaign with this bunch.

As things stand we're one player off a ninth place premier League finish and automatic promotion. With Berge and better forward options. At a push we have Freeman for Duffy and Bogle for Kieron Freeman. I don't get all this doom and gloom. We need a bit of midfield depth if Slater isn't up to it, and a left sided centre back for our back three.

The collapse in form of half a dozen players and the general poor to mediocre quality of those who replaced them drives my concern.

and I do not agree we have better forward options than 2018-19 Sharp and McGoldrick.

People need to remember that Robinson is a left back by trade, only playing CB because of last season. So in effect we have one CB at the club that can play in a two. Which in itself is shockingly bad squad management.
