I definitely accept our style doesn’t / didn’t suit Brewster. But I’m also stunned at how little his all round game offers. He’s lazily described as quick, and he isn’t even that.

We’ve paid a tonne of money for a potential finisher who doesn’t yet appear able to do anything else.

I honestly think he has in it him, he just doesn't want to play for our club.

I know that may be a harsh accusation, but look at it from his perspective, came from one of the biggest clubs in the world with a CL medal in hand, to a team losing week in, week out and rock bottom for the entire PL season. Lets face it, he didn't look particularly chuffed to sign in the videos on Transfer day.

Add in to the face that he was signed by a manager who insisted on the same negative tactics with no chances on offer who left 4 months into him arriving. He also played in a soulless BDTBL with not a fan in sight (not our fault i know).

My point is, he can't have seen many positives about our club in his time here, hopefully there are more to come and he'll fall in love with the club, or else he'll be shipped out.

Those who describe him as quick/pacey/rapid haven’t actually watched him play for us, Liverpool or England like you say it’s a bit of a lazy stereotype. What he does extremely well is he strikes a very clean ball either from open play or dead ball situations very Beattie/Evans like it’s his elite attribute. I was astounded he wasn’t our free kick taker last year as he was for England ahead of sancho, foden and Hudson odoi.

However his issues are also obvious he’s too lightweight and nesh to be an effective 6 yard box striker at prem level. His work rate and inexperience mean he isn’t going to displace didzy as a deep lying creator. We shouldn’t have paid what we did for him but we put ourselves over that barrel by saying what we did in the press.

He and we need to pick one role for him in the side and hone him to just play that. Simplify the game for him and then add other things on later to build from there treat him like we would any other top young prospect.

i tend to agree with you on this one he hasnt looked like he wanted to be here from day 1 but our negative tactics under wilder didnt help him maybe playing wide left in a front 3 might just suit him better but he wont get away with the type of lacklustre performances he put in last season under this manager think its 50/50 on whether he will be a success here

Did he though? We were very effectual the season before - so the idea that Wilder expected a big wider game changing input is a bit far off for me. We just wanted to finish more of what we created (which was very low, accepted).

The problem arose that our overall game broke down, and we created even less. That then really exposed Brewster's shortcomings.

I do agree he’s got an absolute strike on him. He needs to work on his movement from what I’ve seen though, better positions and he’ll score plenty.

He reminds me a little bit of a raw Billy Sharp the first time we re-signed him, everyone knew he was a goal scorer but he didn’t get in and around the box to score!

I expected him to run around a bit, he didn't really do that did he? I felt a bit sorry for him, he looks way out of his depth. I dont expect much from him this season or any season. Hope I'm wrong as he seems like a decent lad who wants to do well.
