40 million is the we don’t want or need to sell price so either pay this overinflated fee or go away. That’s very positive in a few ways one shows we’ve finally realised that we can play hard ball and two shows we’re on a secure financial footing at least in the short term.

The ethos of the club had to change, we couldn't keep rolling over and having our tummy tickled every time a club came in for our players.

I just know with McCabe as owner, commentators at the Euro's would already be saying: "Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is on the bench"

I think other clubs will be aware now that those days are over. They will have to work much harder to get our players.

It was just the financial reality of where we were after so long outside of the top table and with an old fashioned local owner at a time when foreign investment in football left us well behind.

However McCabe did many good things for the club including shirecliffe which gives us the foundation to really kick on now.

With new investment and a new facility coupled with the fabulous staff and reputation we have there’s a real chance we can establish ourself as a consistent producer of top talent. Which if we can hold on to it for longer could see us becoming established as a Southampton type side which probably should be a realistic ambition for us.

The way we shit our pants over potentially missing out on 2.5m when selling Maguire was the real low, especially when you see the player he has become.

yeah agreed prince abdullah aint as stupid as king kev still think theres a possibility with both rammy and berge that slav might fancy a cash plus player deal even if its only season long loans dont think we can stop either player going if they really want to but we have to make sure its the best deal possible for us as well

I think if there had been any murmurs from ramsdale about agitating for a move we would have negotiated doesn’t suit us to make a player stay.

i think rammy would be happy staying here but money and agents talk hard to turn down a move to the premier league and probably trebeling your salary i wouldnt blame him if he wanted to go

Yep but it look like he’s said he wants to stay and help us back up that’s what’s being reported also arsenal want to sign a back up so sitting on the bench probably doesn’t appeal

Yep
But nothing wrong with both players staying if they believe we can go back up again next season

It doesn't matter how agitated they become, the price is the price.

Players aren't stupid, they know they'll get their move if they do the business.

If they sulk, create a bad atmosphere, don't play and toss it off their big money move will go down the toilet, just like Lundstrams

suppose it depends if theres any truth in the vibes that we need to bring 40m in on sales to balance the books but yeah both might decide to stay here while january at least and see if were in contention

Arsenal will be putting on offer on the table for around £25m in a week or so. Ramsdale is happy to stay put but once the offers on the table, that may change. Blades are expected to hold out for around £30m and then up to Ramsdale if he wants to leave. Jokanovic doesn’t wanna sell. The euros are holding all this up. Expect more news in a week in this

Any tid bits on incomings or is it as barren as it seems ATM. ⚔️

Arsenal turning their attention to Johnstone now, according to some media outlets. Would be doubly good for us if they get him. We keep Rammers and our promotion rivals lose a key man.

Sounds to me like Arsenal want Ramsdale as their number 1 target but are trying to get it out there that they have other targets (Johnstone) so that they don't look desperate and have all their eggs in one basket. Didn't our own Chairman criticise CW for only going to the board with one target rather than a few names as it made the negotiations much harder?

They are trying to low ball Utd and Utd need to stay strong and say this is our asking price, pay it or no deal and the lads going nowhere. If they want him bad enough they can find enough money to make it happen so over to your Arsenal.

£30m and 20% of any future sale or £35m and 10%
Depends on our cash flow position and the overall deal depends on if he wants to go.
Only our management team know our overall budget but I would be tempted to keep him for another 12 months and then sell if we do not go up

Amazed how Arsenal let a perfectly decent keeper in Martinez go and are now scrabbling round for a replacement.

Sun reporting that it's virtually a done deal , just a question of the fee.

Not disputing what you are saying is in the Current Bun, but that makes absolutely sod all sense.

Im sure that agents of each club and perhaps even the player will speak to each other before a formal bid is launched, to try and gauge availability, interest from the player, and selling club price, but I've no idea how anything can be 'nearly done' until a fee is all but agreed, and that's not including structure of the payment etc. Fact is, he's under contract to the club and he's going nowhere unless the club receive a transfer offer that is acceptable.

As of yesterday apparently, there was no formal bids on the table for either Ramsdale or Berge. Cant help but think this is more agent mischief trying to unsettle a player. Probably instigated from the Arsenal side.

There's no player unsettling going on. I think it's known that Ramsdale wants Premier League football to boost his England prospects and is ready to go.

Arsenal were reported to be going to make a bid when Ramsdale returned from the Euros.
they were however reported to not being prepared to go beyond £25m and we were reported to want in excess of £35m.
they either think we will cave in, the player will demand the move or Arsenal so far up themselves

Arsenal are so far up themselves.
The sooner they realise they are just a mid table Premiership side now the better.

Not saying it’s the case in this situation but it could be that a rough figure has been verbally agreed upon but the exact details still need to be ironed out. It’s a fairly common occurrence for transfers to happen that way

Well you must be very naive then if you that there is no agent activity involved. Of course there is. In fact I've already read previously that there was discussions ongoing between the agents of both clubs. It's in Arsenal's (and their agents) interests to leak out that things are developing. It does unsettle players and helps the buying clubs cause, as well as the players agent who is also probably after a very nice agent fee for greasing the wheels of any transfer.
