I must admit to having been extremely impressed with the start our new manager has made.
He is a man of obvious pedigree
He has brought in three v good assistants who
bring fresh ideas and experience to the club
He has made all the right noises about recruitment in what is largely believed to be the right areas of the team
The right noises about our two main assets and values to be attributed to any player if he were to be sold.

all in all, he has made a wonderful start, making all the right noises. Obviously the proof of the pudding is in the eating but the foundations are being laid

Did you notice David Wear never lost a night match because of his nightwear
IMO the best manager we ever had was a quietly spoken Scotsman John Harris.
If he can produce the likes of Currie or Woody he'll do for me but he really does need to liven things up a bit.

Where have I complained about his language or his nationality, all I said was his interviews could do with being a bit more lively. He was at Chelsea, Watford and Fulham so its not as though he's not been here before.

He’s speaking a foreign language. The fact that he can conduct an interview at all makes him more adept at English than most English people are at a foreign language.

Come to think of it, probably more adept at English than a lot of English people are at English.

I like him. I will like him even more when I see who he brings in, but I do think we will play very direct, aggressive quick football with pace out wide.

I predict he will play 523. No Overlapping CBs, but 3 solid CBs, 2 wide attacking wing backs, 2 central midfielders, probably fleck and hopefully berge, then one up front with two wide men either side. We will still get the overlaps out wide but it will come from the winger and full back rather than a roaming centre back.

I think we probably need:
2 or 3 more centre halves. Sign two, loan one.
A new central midfielder that can do a bit of everything. Probably loan James Garner to play with Fleck or Berge.
I think he will bring in at least one really quick winger, preferably 2. Perhaps buy one, loan one. Then utilise Mcgoldrick and Freeman as wide creative players. We would line up like this:

Ramsdale/Verrips

New CB/Robinson
Egan/loan centre half (harwood bellis maybe?)
Basham/Sanderson

Bogle/Baldock
RND/Stevens

Fleck/Osborne
Berge/Garner

Loan winger (preferably Sessegnon)/Freeman
Brewster/Mcburnie
New winger (ideally Dembele from Posh)/Didz

That still leaves Sharp, Norwood, Lowe, Mousset, Burke, and all the kids.

I think that gets us back up, right?

Oh you’ll get a good idea well before then. How we set up, how well we play and if he can get a lazy bugger like the Moose (our most talented striker) firing again...He’ll do for me.

I prefer to judge him on who he brings in, if any, and what success the team has on the pitch rather than criticise his use of English which is better than my language skills.

We need to be winning games as well of course, but last season was so awful to watch that this coming season has got to be an improvement. We do need to bring in some quality in midfield and central defence though.

Training was fairly "full tilt" under Wilder in training. He has said he will keep some of the things Wilder has put in place and build on that. Intense training sessions will still be one of them judging by what they went through when they first came back.

It's obviously not his first language. Yes interviews are part and parcel of the game, but it's incredibly difficult to understand regional accents, I struggle as a language graduate and an expat of 10 years, so I sympathise if the interviews feel more of a chore to SJ. As you say, let's let the football do the talking.

What do you mean by livening it up!.
Looked like the players were being pushed all the way to me which is what pre- season is all about.
His english is not the greatest so thoughtful in picking his words which is better than gabbling along in broken english and losing credibility along the way.

From Norwoods interview in particular he refers to a new style of play that the lads need to get used to. It will be interesting to witness this over the next few friendlies.

I just want to see attacking free flowing football again instead of the negative stuff we’ve witnessed for the past year.
